[It's true. Zara is a small sliver of home, and somehow that's comforting even if the rabbit is not a wolf. And Guillan isn't entirely sure he can really be trusted.

Because what is trust for anyone outside his pack, anyway?

[Are people sick? He scoots closer to Zara now, warily, but, hrm.] It's weird. All of this is really weird. 's it bad here?

[ he tries not to let Guillan inching nearer make him more nervous. He's just looking for comfort, right? It's that childlike nature of his. If Zara thinks of it that way, it seems a little bit easier to deal with - after all, he's used to dealing with kids. Then again, Pearl and Richie weren't violent and proficient with weapons.

[Zara has it right. Of course it doesn't mean that Guillan's mood won't shift back to dangerous, but for the moment he doesn't see any reason to mess with the other. After all, the way the Rabbit is talking, he's got way more in common with him than anyone else in this place.

All Huma. Seriously. His ears lower, mouth shaping itself into a frown.] How could they never heard of it? You mean they only got huma where they're from? Did they kill all the other kinds?

[But he's distracted from that question by what Zara says next.] That don't make no sense! Bad but better? What do you mean? How's it an improvement??

at his barrage of questions, he shakes his head rapidly, gesturing gently for him to calm down. ]

N -- No, nothing like that. I have no idea why there are only humans in their worlds... Just chance, I suppose. [ probably not a satisfactory explanation, but he literally can't do any better. ] The improvements are what I mentioned earlier - there's no prejudice here, nor any Zodiva. And no sign of Weblin's royal family, either.

[ in the past, he wouldn't have dared to speak so glibly against the twins in public, but he's been here long enough to feel confident that they aren't here and can't do anything to him. ]

[A world with only humans. Guillan takes a moment to think about it and makes a face like he's just swallowed something sour. No, he doesn't like it at all.]

... I don't know. [ an honest answer. According to CERES, they've all been destroyed. But he thinks CERES is full of it. That, and he absolutely refuses to believe that Fiona is gone. It just couldn't happen. For his own sanity, it couldn't have happened. ]

I want to believe that they're all right, but I've no evidence of anything. That all of us are here and alive is encouraging, at least.

[Guillan might be annoyed by the lack of substantive answers, but he appreciates the honesty anyway. He doesn't want to believe that everyone back home is gone either. He won't believe it!]

[ good attempt, Guillan. Zara wishes he could be so optimistic. Simple-mindedness might be a blessing in this case. But even though he thinks that, in truth, his own train of thought on the matter isn't so different. If Fiona isn't all right, he doesn't know what he'd do. He's afraid to even think of it. Therefore, she has to be all right. ]

... Yes. For the time being, it would probably be best to believe so. Worrying and mourning them won't help us or them.

[It's denial. Pure and simple. Thinking about his entire pack being gone -- it's too much. They've been clinging to survival for so long, against all sorts of odds, to have the entire world torn away from him without even knowing it... he can't even think of it.]

Fiona and his friends are one thing - the people who kidnapped him and took him away from her are another. As long as Guillan doesn't go after the other civilians... ]

It certainly is. [ months of dealing with them, and he still doesn't really understand them. He sure as hell isn't about to try explaining it to Guillan, either. ] You... get used to it, eventually. Perhaps someone will be able to help you.
