Tampering with creatures that they did not understand. Creatures they understood that weren't docile but nevertheless they would experiment on them. And to what ends? Curiosity? Because they could?

[It's almost as foolish as trying to wipe out a race without understanding the whole story.

Yet what is a species without curiosity and ambition? How would it grow without facing the unknown and tampering with what they believe to be the very laws that govern their own worlds?

...I am not blind to the repercussions of excess, of course. Excess may beget hubris, which begets nemesis.

[Which begets a fuckload of Administrators trying to kill you, really. There's a fine line between a species completely dominating others and a species growing unchecked. It pretty much depends on which species believes itself deserving of sitting at the top. For Alcor, humans do.]

Profit is also another possible reason.

It is possible for a species to grow too far. And then, everything in that world they believe falls under their dominion, that they may do as they wish without repercussion. Whether their acts are for pleasure, or profit.

Or both, or something else.

[Not that he's thinking about fucking cats from back home or anything.

I mean. Of course not.]


They may one day come to regret what they have done. Actions should have consequences, else something will not truly learn.
