It is like being stuck in the house of a very eccentric rich man usually. Though sometimes it becomes a closed off world, because they can make barriers.

And the people range anywhere from monsters with animal heads to normal looking human beings. The atmosphere is just weird. Much... lighter almost.

[Most of what he's saying, except for the talk about monsters with animal heads, makes no sense to Yona, being far outside her personal experience. She settles for asking about his last comment.]

What do you mean, "lighter"?

[notsolomon]

It is hard to describe, but it's almost thin? Like mountain air? But there's a different quality to it then that. Something very not of this world.

[It was something he had only begun to notice though, since he was usually dealing with other problems down there.]

Ooooh. [She still doesn't quite get it, but it sounds remarkable! She wants to ask him more questions —

Then her stomach grumbles, loudly, and she blushes.]

Would you like to get something to eat?

[notsolomon]

[It's not exactly gentlemanly of him, but he laughs.]

Sure. It is about that time of the day anyways. If you do not mind, I shall even buy for you.

[dawnsprincess]

Oh no, please, I can pay! [After her exile and the rude awakening to her own privilege, Yona doesn't want to take advantage of anyone's kindness.]

[notsolomon]

How about we split the cost then?

[He's old fashioned enough to not like a girl paying at all, but this is the modern era, so that seems like a fair compromise. Hopefully.]

[dawnsprincess]

[Okay, that's fair. Yona nods and looks around for some place to eat.] How about there?

[She points to a stall — and doesn't notice the sign saying Spiciest food in all of Cerealia!]

[notsolomon]

[He does notice that sign, but well if the lady is game for it, then who is William to question. And now he's curious anyways. Kevin would never be able to try any of this with him.]

Very well then then let us try some.

[But as they approach the booth he does have a moment's trepidation, because do they mean human standard spicy, or what is considered spicy in Tellus? Because that could be a frightening proposition.]

[dawnsprincess]

[We'll soon find out, won't we.

After examining the menu a moment, she asks —] Could I get an order of ma po tofu? [Then, to William —] What would you like?

[notsolomon]

I will have some of the same.

[Tofu wasn't awful in his experience. Not great, but not awful. How bad could this be.]

It smells good at least.

[and yes, he has a feeling about this. A painful one, but he's locked in now that he's handed over his money.]

[dawnsprincess]

[Yona hands over her money as well, and grabs a pair of disposable chopsticks.]

Let's dig in! [She shovels a big piece into her mouth in a very unladylike manner (almost a year on the run has ruined her table manners)] Mmm!

[After a moment —] MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!! [Her face turns red and she starts sputtering. HOT HOT HOT!]

[notsolomon]

[He'd taken a bit just a little after Yona and yes... this is... unpleasant. So unpleasant.]

Bloody hell... [He muttered, reaching over for the large cup of water he'd had the foresight to order. This was so awful. It tasted good. Well in theory it did, but you couldn't sense that through all the heat.]

[dawnsprincess]

[Yona thinks about doing that. But she's hungry and she doesn't want to go through a cycle of burning and cooling, burning and cooling. So she shovels the rest of it into her mouth, whimpering as it burns but determined to eat! (And then drink all of the water in this entire carnival before she spontaneously combusts.)]

[notsolomon]

[And he's still eating it, because hell no, he's not going to lose to food. Not ever. And it's not so bad. Not really. Though that might be because his mouth is nearly numb.

Never let anyone say that he has no will power.]

[dawnsprincess]

[These are the two will-power-iest people to ever power the will. Yona finishes her meal and hurls the bowl away from her.]

WATER! I NEED WATER!

[SOME MERCIFUL SOUL PLEASE HELP HER!!!!]

[notsolomon]

[Wow she eats fast! He's impressed. And as much as he loathes to part with that gian cup of water, William passes it over to her, because one should always render assistance to a Lady in a time of need. Especially when her mouth is on fire.

He can finish these last few mouthfuls. Probably.]

Hurry! Please!

[dawnsprincess]

[Yona pours all of the water into her mouth — sorry William — though a fair amount of it ends up on her blouse.]

I need more ... [She jumps up and runs over to the booth.] Water please!

[The laughing cashier hands her a pitcher and two large cups to bring back over to William.]

[notsolomon]

Good thinking...

[And he's going to take that cup of water the moment she's over there and chug it right down. Fortunately, he's finished his plate by now. Yeah, he's gonna be feeling this heat for a while.

Never again. You have his admiration, good food vendor.]

[dawnsprincess]

Whew! [She shakes her head and tries to cool the remaining heat by breathing through her mouth. It doesn't work too well, but at least she no longer feels like she's going to die.]

Are you all right?

[notsolomon]

I think I will be.

[He can just barely feel his mouth, though at least it's not unbearably hot any more. But ouch.]

That was a hair raising experience. And not a repeatable one.
