Ahh, I get it. They really do thing differently around here, I guess.

[He still doesn't trust this place at all, but at least he won't be totally repressed while he's looking for a way to save his world. As she continues, though, his flirty look takes on a hint of more "above the belt" interest.]

What, mermaids don't use money? Guess you must not do much business with humans, then. Can't see how you could if you're only bartering.

[He shrugs, grin widening as he speaks. He doesn't see a single thing wrong with speaking so frankly with Oona, since she's doing the same right back. It's nice to be so honest with someone.]

So, that kind of fun and killing people are your favorites, huh? Don't meet too many girls like you back home, but I gotta say, I wish I did. You're pretty cool, after all!

[Oona's eyes narrow and her mouth pulls back in a sneer] There is nothing humans could offer us that we would need. Humans do not need to know we exist, they only ruin what they contact.

[SOMEONE'S BITTER don't mind her. She huffs lightly, because his assertion that she's cool and unique and all does wonders to soothe ruffled egos.] There is no one else like me. [Arrogant, maybe, but she grins broadly] And I do not lie, so it must be true!

[She's sort of teasing around, but she also knows there's no other mermaids just like her here--sure there was Keimi or whatever, but even she was totally different from Oona.]

[That gets a full laugh out of him. For some reason, her sneer is just really funny, and the way she huffs about humans being awful just makes it worse.]

Harsh~! You know you're surrounded by humans here, from what I've seen, right?

[He doesn't say that as a threat. He's just trying to see exactly how deep that hate goes and how she uses it.]

Only problem with bein' unique is that there aren't enough people who get you. But I like those sorts of people, so as long as you leave my people alone, you can hate whoever you want. Fair?

[She sniffs disdainfully] Unfortunate, yes. But, many of those humans can do things beyond what normal humans do. So, they are not as bad as could be.

[Her eyes narrow slightly at his comment-- leave his people alone, hate whoever she wants? What the fuck, she's going to do what she wants!!] Who are you to give me such orders, child? Will hate whoever I want regardless!

Besides, if your people do not try to capture me or harm me or people actually care for, then, there will not be problem, yes? I only, eh... what is the word Retaliate? Against those who harm me first! Usually. [You know, unless they really deserve it. She huffs a little, as if insulted] Giving me such orders, as if I would ever... Hmph!

It ain't an order. It's a warning.

[He stares at her, still grinning, but it's more of an attempt to bare his teeth than smile. His voice is light still, but he's on an edge where he could easily slip into cruel and brutal.]

You can kill whoever you want, and I'll even cheer you on, if they deserve it like you say. But I don't let others put their hands on my family and my men. I'm sure you've got a few people you'd do the same for, right?

[She might not be human, but he doesn't think her heart is all that different from his. He's trying to make it clear: hurt what's mine, and you won't walk away.]

I don't want to have to see which of us is better with a blade, that's all~! Especially 'cause I'm one of those "humans can do things that others can't".
