Learning is Fundamental! Let's play CERESLearn

ViViD's usual worlds are unfortunately down for maintenance. While CERES' programmers work on getting it back up and running, all new entrees this round will be going through a different level than usual. Only a single world is accessible at the moment, a simple one entitled 'CERESLearn.' "What the $%@& is this?" you must be thinking. Well, it's simple!

It's a study program, of course! CERES' advanced AI technology is here to make sure you learn and that you learn sexily. Whether or not you pay attention to the actual content is up to you, the player. Please enjoy it while it lasts. They're here to teach you a variety of subjects and also to make you feel vaguely uncomfortable all over.

New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves in a classroom with a new operator greeting them rather than Vidia.

"Greetings and welcome to Cerealia! It's nice of you to join us at last. As you can see, we're just about to get started!

Here are the instructions:

♥ Choose your subject of choice. They include things like medicine, math, CERES economics, CERES history, fun facts about Julius, engineering, and science!
♥ Choose your tutor. You can hire Astor, Hilda, or UN-Zippy
♥ They'll teach you slowly, deliberately, sensually. Then after that, they'll drill you hard and without stopping.
♥ Just when you think you've had enough, they'll quiz you all over until you're sweating and panting.
♥ For those of you who pass, you'll be welcomed well into Cerealia and be given a free voucher for a McCERES Mildly Content meal. Please enjoy!"

PHASE I

[ xxxx ] Once you choose your lesson and your tutor, you will be transported to a classroom where you and a few other players who decide to choose the same lesson will sit with your tutor after school, getting knowledge taught to you by someone who seems more intent on learning what's under your clothes than filling your head with knowledge. They will be awkwardly stretching, dropping pencils by 'accident' on the floor, and bending down slowly to pick them up. Certain things might be spilling out of their clothes. Awkward things. They will breathe down your neck and make sure you are well-versed in their anatomy by the end of the lesson.

Fortunately, it won't last long as their bodies start to flicker erratically.

PHASE II

[ xxxx ] Just as things begin to escalate, the flickering will grow intense until your tutor will start to morph before your eyes. What takes their place is something that is anything but friendly. And yes, it will continue to breathe down your neck and speak in a sweet, soft, alluring voice while reaching out with its 'hands' to try and touch you.

This will be your cue to run through the halls of the school while That Thing chases you in every single direction imaginable. There will be others joining you as everyone starts bolting out of their classrooms.

PHASE III

[ xxxx ] Feeling tired already? Well, don't stop and rest now! For those who successfully murder their own tutor, they will get their food voucher and a lovely welcome into CERES. You've officially passed! Everyone will be allowed to mingle around the game room in the CERES Research Tower before being directed into McCERES just across the street. For those who were already in the colony, you will also receive a voucher and directions to McCERES at the end of the game in case you want to go meet up with the newcomers there or just eat some artery-killing fast food.

PHASE IV

[ xxxx ] For those who get eaten by That Thing or don't pass their quizzes and upset their tutors, they will be forced to endure the Price of Failure. This means being sent to the gym with the other 'failures' to endure a painfully slow and erotic striptease by UN-Zippy. Once that is over, they will then be logged out and allowed to have their complimentary McCERES voucher.

BONUS

[ whyo'clock ] Congratulations on surviving CERESLearn! Here's your complimentary voucher for a free Mildly Content Meal at McCERES. This month's special is also the McKnight Burger. Characters are immediately invited to take a load off and enjoy some good ol' fashion fast food of questionable origin. Those who decide to order and eat here will also get a special toy included inside their Mildly Content Meals.

[ Mary's concerned — either this is a ploy to fool her into going into that corner or it's someone who's shy and afraid to talk to people. She hopes it's the latter, because that's something she can deal with... and also understands.

She doesn't peek over the corner, but remains in her spot instead. The last thing she wants to do is scare her off or make her feel intimidated. ]

Ah are... are you alright?

[This is an expression that can certainly be described as "deer in the headlights". On the one hand? Chizuru wants absolutely nothing to do with the McKnight Burgers. She's heard enough questionable things about them.

On the other... just saying no seems unkind... so she looks between Oz and the voucher with mild distress.]

Ah, um...! That's... ["I don't want it." Just say it, Chizuru!]

I'm not going to!

[ Who do you take him for? He's not weak, you know. Give him some credit.

Which he proves by cutting right through the monster's head, impaling it and locking it to the floor. He pulls out one sword, and cuts it in its mouth. It groans and twitches, and starts to die where it lays flailing. ]

Eh?

[Well, that's a loaded question if Chizuru's ever heard one. "I was in a creepy-ass city where our captors performed experiments on us" is probably not the answer Tenten wants to hear, but actually being at home seems like it was such a long time ago, she can't really count it as being "before ending up here".

She'll focus on her second question, instead.]

I would hope that most people here don't take everything these people say at face value...

[If you thought Chizuru wasn't going to flip her lid upon seeing a small injured child, you were absolutely mistaken. Hope you wanted a babysitter, because you sure as hell are about to get one as soon as she's done staring at him in shock.

Here she is coming over now...!]

Are you alright? Um— Your injuries, and that... weird welcome...

[She's not wording things very well at all, is she.]

[The acceptance of that hidden compliment is met only with a shy smile and no verbal acknowledgement, but it seems well-received nevertheless. The rest of what Vincent says also seems to go over well, and Kaoru's expression shifts to accommodate each current feature of discussion seamlessly. Understanding for being totally lost with technology, amiability for his suggestion to meet later, mild sympathy for a understandable case of wanting familiarity in a very unfamiliar situation...

By the end, Kaoru's head dips once more in a shallow but polite bow.]

It flatters me to hear such kind words, sir. If you wouldn't mind it, then I'll gladly see you when your time is free once more. [Straightening again, Kaoru's hands re-fold, smile returning to its placid amiability.]

[Chizuru is blissfully oblivious to Russia's intimidating aura. What she's not so oblivious to? ...the torn-up pieces of that voucher which, as they are lost to the breeze, end up fluttering into her face.]

[WELL THAT WAS A SURPRISE... she brushes the pieces away with one and and looks in the direction they came from, and then she shrinks back a little bit... but she doesn't recognize him and he has a voucher, so he must have just arrived here.]

Was— Was the food they offered so terrible...?

[ Hirari continues behind the monster after him, climbing up on its back to stab it in the neck, cutting right into the cervical spine. It collapses to the ground, dying instantly. ]

[ He's not entirely convinced that he's not faking his age yet, but this time it's more teasing than anything else. ]

[ Unfortunately, this outlaw lacks a lot in the self preservation department. ]

[ He hasn't, but it's mostly because it really looks... anything but tasty. Worse than fish with a lot of bones.

He looks up at the girl, just about to lift the food upside down to check if it looked better from that angle. ]

[ He figures he should say it now while the creatures haven't caught up to them yet. ]

They're handing out meals to people and to be frank, they're terrible. [He's not ready to receive the worst stomach ache from eating this trash.]

I don't recommend getting one if you know what's good for you. [That's some advice he can offer at least.]

Um, well, I don't know if they fixed it, but I heard there was a problem with that kind of food not too long ago... it made people act strangely.

There are safer places to eat from, but they probably aren't free.

[ People sure seemed disturbed by some simple bug-shaped toys. He really can't see why. ]

[ To be fair, there are way too many people that suits that description. You know, you meet a lot of people when you're sort of over a century old and work as a teacher in the afterlife. ]

I can think of a lot of people but they're probably not the one you're looking for.

[She didn't ask for this! First, Dahlia didn't know how or why but she was out of prison, in a strange classroom and being taught by this strange man who kept asking her History questions, having things spill out of his clothes and almost coming too close for her comfort.

Then suddenly, he turned into a horrible monster. This had to be a horrible dream - it must be! Either way, Dahlia was running out of the classroom, truly terrified for her life. She may be a heartless murderer but she's not a fighter!
