While CERES' programmers work on getting it back up and running, all new entrees this round will be going through a different level than usual. Only a single world is accessible at the moment, a simple one entitled 'CERESLearn.' "What the $%@& is this?" you must be thinking. Well, it's simple! It's a study program, of course! CERES' advanced AI technology is here to make sure you learn and that you learn sexily. Whether or not you pay attention to the actual content is up to you, the player. Please enjoy it while it lasts. They're here to teach you a variety of subjects and also to make you feel vaguely uncomfortable all over. New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves in a classroom with a new operator greeting them rather than Vidia. "Greetings and welcome to Cerealia! It's nice of you to join us at last. As you can see, we're just about to get started! Here are the instructions: ♥ Choose your subject of choice. They include things like medicine, math, CERES economics, CERES history, fun facts about Julius, engineering, and science! ♥ Choose your tutor. You can hire Astor, Hilda, or UN-Zippy ♥ They'll teach you slowly, deliberately, sensually. Then after that, they'll drill you hard and without stopping. ♥ Just when you think you've had enough, they'll quiz you all over until you're sweating and panting. ♥ For those of you who pass, you'll be welcomed well into Cerealia and be given a free voucher for a McCERES Mildly Content meal. Please enjoy!"

//SCENARIOS.EXE PHASE I [ xxxx ] Once you choose your lesson and your tutor, you will be transported to a classroom where you and a few other players who decide to choose the same lesson will sit with your tutor after school, getting knowledge taught to you by someone who seems more intent on learning what's under your clothes than filling your head with knowledge. They will be awkwardly stretching, dropping pencils by 'accident' on the floor, and bending down slowly to pick them up. Certain things might be spilling out of their clothes. Awkward things. They will breathe down your neck and make sure you are well-versed in their anatomy by the end of the lesson. Fortunately, it won't last long as their bodies start to flicker erratically. PHASE II [ xxxx ] Just as things begin to escalate, the flickering will grow intense until your tutor will start to morph before your eyes. What takes their place is something that is anything but friendly. And yes, it will continue to breathe down your neck and speak in a sweet, soft, alluring voice while reaching out with its 'hands' to try and touch you. This will be your cue to run through the halls of the school while That Thing chases you in every single direction imaginable. There will be others joining you as everyone starts bolting out of their classrooms. PHASE III [ xxxx ] Feeling tired already? Well, don't stop and rest now! For those who successfully murder their own tutor, they will get their food voucher and a lovely welcome into CERES. You've officially passed! Everyone will be allowed to mingle around the game room in the CERES Research Tower before being directed into McCERES just across the street. For those who were already in the colony, you will also receive a voucher and directions to McCERES at the end of the game in case you want to go meet up with the newcomers there or just eat some artery-killing fast food. PHASE IV [ xxxx ] For those who get eaten by That Thing or don't pass their quizzes and upset their tutors, they will be forced to endure the Price of Failure. This means being sent to the gym with the other 'failures' to endure a painfully slow and erotic striptease by UN-Zippy. Once that is over, they will then be logged out and allowed to have their complimentary McCERES voucher. BONUS [ whyo'clock ] Congratulations on surviving CERESLearn! Here's your complimentary voucher for a free Mildly Content Meal at McCERES. This month's special is also the McKnight Burger. Characters are immediately invited to take a load off and enjoy some good ol' fashion fast food of questionable origin. Those who decide to order and eat here will also get a special toy included inside their Mildly Content Meals. [ It is when Ciel was (naively) under the assumption that the people in the park were a bit more normal than they actually were. He makes a huffy little noise, then shakes his head. ]

Never mind! Just know that I can't do anything like that.

[ What you saw at the park was pretty much what you get... ]

[ Ciel gives her a grateful look as Rider draws her attention away, but as Rider pretty much vaults her across the room, he makes a noise of surprise, then looks at Rider incredulously. ]

[ Really strong? Or more than that, not human, he thinks, but he also doesn't have time to wonder about that, since Hilda didn't exactly appreciate that, so her form is starting to flicker a la Phase II. That gets Ciel to stand up, and though he hesitates, he offers a hand to Rider, even though he's pretty sure she definitely doesn't need it. ]

Er, I think we should go now!

[He nods once.]

You're absolutely right. In these situations we shouldn't take any unnecessary risks. [They need to be careful more than ever. ]

Yeah, they did. What's the deal there? [It looked dreadfully important.]

[ at the voice, russia turns his head to glance behind himself—just as hilda tries to struggle to her skittery bug legs amongst the mess of glass shards. before she can, russia swings his pipe like a golfer's club, the business end smashing into hilda's 'face' with a sickening crunch. that done: ]

Ah, thank you!

[ is that... the appropriate response to a comment like that? it is now. hilda does her best to get up again, but russia steps back, turning bright eyes on his new audience. like shihoudou, he hasn't quite managed to escape getting flecked with blood. ]

Much more fun than sitting in a classroom, yes?

[ he sounds way too calm about this. ]

[ The way this man talks is irritating, Ciel decides quite soundly. That confident, flippant way of talking is definitely reminiscent of Sebastian. ]

Shut up. I have no intention of getting killed by a damned bug!

[He scowls as he follow along, since he's at least hoping that this stranger will have a better idea of how to navigate this building. It's completely strange and foreign to him, since school buildings of his time period aren't laid out like this at all. ]

the atmosphere might be crushing, but the vacant smile accompanying russia's response is probably a little more unsettling. ]

[ He can't help but yelp in alarm as he's pretty much scooped up onto an... animal's (???) back, because this is strange! This is terribly, awfully, completely bizarrely strange, and he's so taken aback by that for the moment that he forgets to be grateful, but he'll get to it... Eventually... ]

[ Ciel had his eyes closed (he was resting them, thank you, not taking a nap), but they quickly open as soon as it's clear that he's the one being addressed. It takes him a moment to catch up to what she's saying, but... Oh. Well, it's not hard to guess where her concern is coming from, so he looks down at himself. The injuries are all at least more patched up thanks to CERES rather than simply making do with what was at the amusement park, but it's definitely clear that it was quickly done too. ]

Er— That is...

[ He trails off softly, feeling a little awkward in the face of kindness, and not sure what to say. ]

What do you mean by help, exactly?

he doesn't even turn to look at her, instead continuing to stare at the establishment in question like it's personally offended him somehow. ]

Oh, [ and it's said with probably the most warped version of cheer you'll ever hear in your life, ] I assume so. But I couldn't know for certain. I am not in the habit of taste-testing garbage.

[ He says that much confidently and without missing a beat, since Ciel has a real talent for business and he knows it. He's not exactly modest when it comes to this topic either, but that's also because it doesn't really work for business either. ]

I've established several new branches of the company since I took over. It started out as a cover for my family's real work, but I made it more legitimate.

the short answer is no, but he couldn't possibly explain. in fact, he'd be perfectly content putting the whole thing from his mind—but unfortunately, it's all still very fresh, and employing that particular coping mechanism would be an insult to all he's lost.

[ this time, he does turn to look at her—now with something that might be carefully hidden surprise. he can count the number of times someone has seriously offered to take him out for food on one hand, and yet a young woman he'd just met (one of japan's, if he's not mistaken) is offering to feed him!

a little bit of the macabre aura ebbs away, retreating back into the frozen hellhole from which it came. he's not very hungry, but he can't turn down such a generous offer. ]

That is very kind of you. [ still kind of in creepy voice mode, though. so... partial success? ]

What type of restaurant?

[ not that it really matters, as long as it's not another mcceres. ]

[If it sounds like there's something she isn't telling him, that's because there is; she doesn't want to advertise the fact that she works at a cosplay café, though he'll figure it out soon enough once they get there.]

There are pastries, and... some lighter foods, too. Sandwiches and soups...

[ Of course, Soujirou will go for actively engage! Is this unwise? Probably! But he's already taken care of his tutor as well, having immediately beheaded it as soon as its form started to flicker, since Soujirou has at least been here long enough to know not to play around.

His sword is slick with blood as he walks out into the hallway because of that, but seeing the display there... He can only laugh, since it's definitely overkill. ]

I don't think it will, actually! If you wanted it to take responsibility, you shouldn't have killed it so soon.

[ it's probably a testament to his own sanity that this doesn't phase russia at all. considering he's covered liberally in monster blood and seems completely unaffected by... everything—at least outwardly—this isn't all that surprising. brightly: ]

[ Soujirou actually wouldn't have had much trouble with the now much grosser instructor, and there's something of that implied in the sword at his side. He had been careful to stay out of the path of Vincent's gun, but once that's clearly done, Soujirou had taken that as his cue to finish. His hand hovered over the hilt of his blade, since he was ready to draw it quickly as he bolted forward to behead the monster without much trouble, but—

An odd creature comes to do the work for him. Soujirou's eyes widen in surprise and wonder, but there's no alarm. His hand drops, since he imagines with that appearance, it'll certainly be enough, and he's right.

Deimos is messy though, so it's not just Vincent that gets innards on his face, though like Vincent, the young man doesn't seem terribly bothered by it, not even reaching up to wipe it away. He figures there will be more, so why bother? ]

My, my! You have a pretty interesting companion to help you out, Sir.

[That plea for help is very familiar to Shirou. He's so angry because Sakura's in trouble. She's been through so much hardship in her life and there's still more waiting for her. This legitimately annoys Shirou so much to the point where he grits his teeth together to deal with it. ]

Sakura!!!! Come here!

[Naturally Shirou rushes out to help Sakura and grabs her hand. He promised he'd be Sakura's superhero. They need to go somewhere safe. Lord help them.]

...well, at least he was smiling.. Even if Butch is pretty sure he's not alright. ]

[ He looks down at what he's riding on in more surprise, but... Ultimately, he decides that for now? It's better to just go with it. He can question it later, or just not question it at all, because who knows... ]
