Learning is Fundamental! Let's play CERESLearn

ViViD's usual worlds are unfortunately down for maintenance. While CERES' programmers work on getting it back up and running, all new entrees this round will be going through a different level than usual. Only a single world is accessible at the moment, a simple one entitled 'CERESLearn.' "What the $%@& is this?" you must be thinking. Well, it's simple!

It's a study program, of course! CERES' advanced AI technology is here to make sure you learn and that you learn sexily. Whether or not you pay attention to the actual content is up to you, the player. Please enjoy it while it lasts. They're here to teach you a variety of subjects and also to make you feel vaguely uncomfortable all over.

New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves in a classroom with a new operator greeting them rather than Vidia.
"Greetings and welcome to Cerealia! It's nice of you to join us at last. As you can see, we're just about to get started!

Here are the instructions:

♥ Choose your subject of choice. They include things like medicine, math, CERES economics, CERES history, fun facts about Julius, engineering, and science!
♥ Choose your tutor. You can hire Astor, Hilda, or UN-Zippy
♥ They'll teach you slowly, deliberately, sensually. Then after that, they'll drill you hard and without stopping.
♥ Just when you think you've had enough, they'll quiz you all over until you're sweating and panting.
♥ For those of you who pass, you'll be welcomed well into Cerealia and be given a free voucher for a McCERES Mildly Content meal. Please enjoy!"

//SCENARIOS.EXE
PHASE I
[ xx:xx ] Once you choose your lesson and your tutor, you will be transported to a classroom where you and a few other players who decide to choose the same lesson will sit with your tutor after school, getting knowledge taught to you by someone who seems more intent on learning what's under your clothes than filling your head with knowledge. They will be awkwardly stretching, dropping pencils by 'accident' on the floor, and bending down slowly to pick them up. Certain things might be spilling out of their clothes. Awkward things. They will breathe down your neck and make sure you are well-versed in their anatomy by the end of the lesson.

Fortunately, it won't last long as their bodies start to flicker erratically.
PHASE II
[ xx:xx ] Just as things begin to escalate, the flickering will grow intense until your tutor will start to morph before your eyes. What takes their place is something that is anything but friendly. And yes, it will continue to breathe down your neck and speak in a sweet, soft, alluring voice while reaching out with its 'hands' to try and touch you.

This will be your cue to run through the halls of the school while That Thing chases you in every single direction imaginable. There will be others joining you as everyone starts bolting out of their classrooms.
PHASE III
[ xx:xx ] Feeling tired already? Well, don't stop and rest now! For those who successfully murder their own tutor, they will get their food voucher and a lovely welcome into CERES. You've officially passed! Everyone will be allowed to mingle around the game room in the CERES Research Tower before being directed into McCERES just across the street. For those who were already in the colony, you will also receive a voucher and directions to McCERES at the end of the game in case you want to go meet up with the newcomers there or just eat some artery-killing fast food.

PHASE IV
[ xx:xx ] For those who get eaten by That Thing or don't pass their quizzes and upset their tutors, they will be forced to endure the Price of Failure. This means being sent to the gym with the other 'failures' to endure a painfully slow and erotic striptease by UN-Zippy. Once that is over, they will then be logged out and allowed to have their complimentary McCERES voucher.

BONUS
[ why:o'clock ] Congratulations on surviving CERESLearn! Here's your complimentary voucher for a free Mildly Content Meal at McCERES. This month's special is also the McKnight Burger. Characters are immediately invited to take a load off and enjoy some good ol' fashion fast food of questionable origin. Those who decide to order and eat here will also get a special toy included inside their Mildly Content Meals.
[ Remember to apply proper warnings on threads with trigger-y or inappropriate material and do let a mod know if your thread careens off into maiming or canoodling so we can lock the log. ]

//RUN.EXE
Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post. For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing everyone's usual arrival experience (which is not entirely applicable this round for reasons stated above^) and a FAQ that should explain everything in more detail. Please read them thoroughly before playing. Thank you!

[He wasn't intending to go into the virtual game. It's...not something he enjoys, but upon realizing that there are newcomers in trouble in it, he has to at least see what's happening.

Bugs chasing little girls through hallways is not what he was expecting, but at least it doesn't take him any time at all to react.

He steps forward, drawing his sword, and sidesteps the bug in an easy movement. It's not hard--it's still intent on Sakura, and then quite neatly, his sword shears through the skin keeping its head attached to its body. He knows this is all virtual, but...well, he'll never quite understand how it can feel so real...

Regardless, he turns then, stepping away from the bug (it's still moving, which is disgusting, but not enough to be a threat).]

Are you unharmed?
springful: (quietly resents rin in the corner)

[personal profile] springful 2014-11-17 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
[As soon as the bug drops to the floor, she lets out a sigh of relief. It's still pretty gross honestly, but it doesn't look like it'll be coming after her again. Turning to the stranger who came to her aid, she bows slightly in gratitude.]

Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for helping me, sir.
deontology: (VII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-11-17 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah... well, she's polite. Especially after such a startling show as that. Sousei just turns away from the insect (he highly doubts it's getting back up), answering her with a nod.]

There's no need to thank me. It is not your fault that you've been put in this situation.

[He is glad that she's safe, though.]

It is probably not safe to remain in this place, though.
springful: (her ribbon's on the left!!)

[personal profile] springful 2014-11-19 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[She's used to extreme displays of strength and monsters at least... As unfortunate as that is, but. She nods back at his words though; the sooner she got out of... Well, wherever this was, the better.]

Do you know where the exit is? Although I'm... not entirely sure of how I got here in the first place.
deontology: (XI.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-11-22 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[The exit...which is probably not what she wants it to be, alas. He'll be honest about it too, because he's that blunt sort of person.]

There is a way out of this simulation, though I'm not certain yet what it is.

[...]

A way to return to our proper home hasn't been found yet.
springful: (tfw no senpai)

[personal profile] springful 2014-11-24 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
[The more he says, the more confused she gets. Simulation? Proper home? What was he talking about? She doesn't know how she ended up here, but this is just a school... isn't it?]

Um, I'm sorry for this, but I'm not sure I understand. What do you mean by "simulation" and "proper home"?
deontology: (XV.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-11-25 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Sadly, part of his failure to communicate is because he doesn't know exactly how it works himself. It's a hard life, being from ye olden days.

Still, his pause is minimal, as he tries to figure out how to explain.]

This...is not real. It is a program that may be accessed by the people in this city. [whatever...that means. He's only fuzzily clear on the details.]

The city outside of this simulation is not your home.
springful: (eating people feels kinda good)

[personal profile] springful 2014-11-26 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not my home—? [Which, as impossible as it sounds, makes sense given how strange everything here is. Unfortunately, that only brings up more problems, and she grows worried.] Then, how did I get here?! Where is here anyways?
deontology: (I.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-11-28 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sousei sure is great at explaining these things--and at not worrying people.

Not.]

We've been brought here, or so we've been told. [...he's not bringing up the destroyed worlds thing, mostly because he doesn't believe it, and she seems anxious enough.] We are currently inside a program called ViViD.

...Calm down. There are ways to return to our proper place. It is simply a matter of finding them.
springful: (perpetually silent and gloomy)

[personal profile] springful 2014-11-30 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
[The reassurance is just overflowing here....

But she knows he's right and takes a deep breath as she tries to calm herself. So... she's not in Fuyuki City. She doesn't know how she ended up in a program, or whether that even means something like a virtual reality or something else, but one thing at a time, right? For now, getting out of here seemed like the best idea.]

Okay. Um, where do we go from here?
deontology: (VIII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-02 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Right...getting out of here. If only that was as easy as it should be. Except that he'd suspected it wouldn't be, and he isn't surprised about that.]

We are unable to... "log out" at the moment. [Computer terminology is so hard.] There must be a task that we still need to complete.

[Or fail.

Probably because the bug is still alive.]
springful: (senpai shut the fuck up)

[personal profile] springful 2014-12-06 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
A task we still need to complete? [But what would that even be when they're in a school with weird hologram teachers and giant bugs??

Oh, that sure is the previously-dead bug moving behind him.]

Ah, behind you—!
deontology: (LI.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-07 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[That...would do it. Probably the bug, then? Probably the bug. It seems to fit this place.

Thankfully, Sousei was not particularly surprised by that. He's got plenty of combat experience in and out of this place, and he turns on his heel quickly, lifting his sword with a flick of his wrist to rid the bug of the claw that had been coming towards him.

Okay...time to test this.

It's only the work of a moment for Sousei to step forward, taking advantage of the bug's momentary flinch, and rid it of its head. Gross.]
springful: (her ribbon's on the left!!)

[personal profile] springful 2014-12-11 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Farewell for good, bug... He's certainly skilled though, and while Sakura's glad for it, she also can't help but feel bad for (what she sees as) making him do all the work in this. She really needs to fix her own uselessness after this somehow.]

Thank you, again. [Feelings of inadequacy aside though, decapitation definitely did the trick! The voucher suddenly appears, startling her. She doesn't really understand what this is for, or how it appeared, but...] Does this mean it's over?
deontology: (LXXV.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-12 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[There, there, Sakura... you're a civilian, he figures, it's only fair.

But he glances around as they get that voucher and the virtual reality fades away to leave them in Cerealia proper. He stares at the voucher for a short moment, before folding it simply and tossing it into the first trash can in his sight.

Yeah right, like he's trusting that.]

Yes, you should be safe until the next incident. [Isn't that comforting...]
springful: (perpetually silent and gloomy)

[personal profile] springful 2014-12-13 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's still not right even for a civilian!! Even if she isn't really just an ordinary citizen.

But wow where are they now??? She takes her own voucher, but she still looks around the area in confusion. This... certainly isn't the school anymore, and she's glad for that at least.]

The next incident... [Yeah, she's not sure what to think about that. More importantly though!] So this is the "real" world now, right?
deontology: (XLIX.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-14 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
[That's...such a difficult question to answer. He's still not entirely certain that this city is real, and after all of the virtual reality things he's seen, he's even less sure. But...well, it's as close to reality as they've got, right...? (He was not made for this sort of thinking.)]

...Yes. This is currently where we are living.

[Welcome to your new home, Sakura...]

It doesn't appear as if we can leave elsewhere.
springful: (fuck takeuchi ufotable is here)

[personal profile] springful 2014-12-14 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I see... [Except not really there are so many questions. She's already asked him so much though, and she'd feel bad if all she did after he helped her so much was play twenty questions. It'll be repeating herself a bit, but she bows slightly and gives a small smile.]

But thank you so much for all of your help, sir. You saved me twice in there.
deontology: (LXIV.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-15 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, she's polite...which is a bit more along the lines of what he's used to back home, instead of all of these crazy foreign people. He doesn't bow in return, but he does incline his head in acknowledgement.]

It was no trouble. To immediately place newcomers into danger is not only uncalled for, but also unfair.

[She might be competent any other time, who knows--it's hard to be competent when you're immediately tossed into that sort of situation without somewhat expecting it.]

I'm aware you must be confused, but I won't have any of the answers you're looking for. [Sadly... still, he'll at least lay it all out pretty bluntly.]
springful: (the kohaku smile)

[personal profile] springful 2014-12-15 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Being polite is the least she can do!! And yeah, as unfortunate as that is to hear, at least she knows.]

It's alright, I understand. I'll just try asking for answers elsewhere. [And probably not get a lot of answers oops... But now that she's out of danger, there's people she needs to look for.] If you'll excuse me then, and again, thank you!
deontology: (XV.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-15 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[He has no problems with excusing her, though it does strike him that if she needs help again, it might help to introduce himself.

So he nods in response, but tacks on--]

My name is Abe no Sousei. [just...don't mind the ridiculously outdated naming scheme.] If there are further problems, do not be afraid to contact me.

[Problems of the sort of...giant evil bugs. Sousei takes "putting a dent in CERES' day" very seriously.]
springful: (the totally a normal girl smile)

[personal profile] springful 2014-12-16 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Hella outdated tbh... Given how weird everything else has been though, she almost wonders if he's from the past or something like that. But no, that'd just be too crazy, right??]

I'll be sure to keep that in mind. [Whether she actually takes him up on it or not is another question... It's better not to bother people!! Even for problems of the giant bug variety...... That aside though.] And my name is Sakura Matou. Until next time.

[And with another polite nod, she'll be off.]
