Learning is Fundamental! Let's play CERESLearn

ViViD's usual worlds are unfortunately down for maintenance. While CERES' programmers work on getting it back up and running, all new entrees this round will be going through a different level than usual. Only a single world is accessible at the moment, a simple one entitled 'CERESLearn.' "What the $%@& is this?" you must be thinking. Well, it's simple!

It's a study program, of course! CERES' advanced AI technology is here to make sure you learn and that you learn sexily. Whether or not you pay attention to the actual content is up to you, the player. Please enjoy it while it lasts. They're here to teach you a variety of subjects and also to make you feel vaguely uncomfortable all over.

New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves in a classroom with a new operator greeting them rather than Vidia.
"Greetings and welcome to Cerealia! It's nice of you to join us at last. As you can see, we're just about to get started!

Here are the instructions:

♥ Choose your subject of choice. They include things like medicine, math, CERES economics, CERES history, fun facts about Julius, engineering, and science!
♥ Choose your tutor. You can hire Astor, Hilda, or UN-Zippy
♥ They'll teach you slowly, deliberately, sensually. Then after that, they'll drill you hard and without stopping.
♥ Just when you think you've had enough, they'll quiz you all over until you're sweating and panting.
♥ For those of you who pass, you'll be welcomed well into Cerealia and be given a free voucher for a McCERES Mildly Content meal. Please enjoy!"

//SCENARIOS.EXE
PHASE I
[ xx:xx ] Once you choose your lesson and your tutor, you will be transported to a classroom where you and a few other players who decide to choose the same lesson will sit with your tutor after school, getting knowledge taught to you by someone who seems more intent on learning what's under your clothes than filling your head with knowledge. They will be awkwardly stretching, dropping pencils by 'accident' on the floor, and bending down slowly to pick them up. Certain things might be spilling out of their clothes. Awkward things. They will breathe down your neck and make sure you are well-versed in their anatomy by the end of the lesson.

Fortunately, it won't last long as their bodies start to flicker erratically.
PHASE II
[ xx:xx ] Just as things begin to escalate, the flickering will grow intense until your tutor will start to morph before your eyes. What takes their place is something that is anything but friendly. And yes, it will continue to breathe down your neck and speak in a sweet, soft, alluring voice while reaching out with its 'hands' to try and touch you.

This will be your cue to run through the halls of the school while That Thing chases you in every single direction imaginable. There will be others joining you as everyone starts bolting out of their classrooms.
PHASE III
[ xx:xx ] Feeling tired already? Well, don't stop and rest now! For those who successfully murder their own tutor, they will get their food voucher and a lovely welcome into CERES. You've officially passed! Everyone will be allowed to mingle around the game room in the CERES Research Tower before being directed into McCERES just across the street. For those who were already in the colony, you will also receive a voucher and directions to McCERES at the end of the game in case you want to go meet up with the newcomers there or just eat some artery-killing fast food.

PHASE IV
[ xx:xx ] For those who get eaten by That Thing or don't pass their quizzes and upset their tutors, they will be forced to endure the Price of Failure. This means being sent to the gym with the other 'failures' to endure a painfully slow and erotic striptease by UN-Zippy. Once that is over, they will then be logged out and allowed to have their complimentary McCERES voucher.

BONUS
[ why:o'clock ] Congratulations on surviving CERESLearn! Here's your complimentary voucher for a free Mildly Content Meal at McCERES. This month's special is also the McKnight Burger. Characters are immediately invited to take a load off and enjoy some good ol' fashion fast food of questionable origin. Those who decide to order and eat here will also get a special toy included inside their Mildly Content Meals.
[ Remember to apply proper warnings on threads with trigger-y or inappropriate material and do let a mod know if your thread careens off into maiming or canoodling so we can lock the log. ]

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post. For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing everyone's usual arrival experience (which is not entirely applicable this round for reasons stated above^) and a FAQ that should explain everything in more detail. Please read them thoroughly before playing. Thank you!

It...may be.

[Sousei's got no idea, honestly, but here's here to rain on your meal anyway.

You know. Just in case you were thinking of enjoying it.]

Though I would not trust food they have offered us for free regardless. They have used our food before as a method of slipping questionable substances to people.

[you're welcome]
sewayaku: (what are you wearing)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-11-18 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
-- Excuse me?

[ not directed towards you, friend, but what you just said. His ears immediately seem to go more rigid than before, alert and none-too-happy, and he stares at Sousei in disbelief. Yeah, this burger is going nowhere near his lips now. ]

Please, tell me the details.
deontology: (I.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-11-19 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
[It's okay, he knows. It's nonsense, and Sousei at least doesn't hesitate to tell Zara exactly that.]

I believe it was the exact same food item as this--it caused people to attempt to harm each other, I've been told, though I wasn't present.

I was present for the second incident, where a drug was slipping into many peoples' food, in an attempt to make them lose their inhibitions.

[inhibitions of any sort....]
sewayaku: (fuck off)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-11-19 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ he could ask for details on what "lose their inhibitions" means, but considering what he's already seen, he thinks he has a pretty good idea... and nothing could make him drop that fast food wrapper on the table faster. Oh, no. Absolutely not. That's pretty much the highest indignity a man of his station could face. Zara looks disgusted. ]

... I truly don't understand the meaning of all this...
deontology: (XI.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-11-23 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah it's really gross, don't trust them at all. Sousei sure doesn't.

Though he understands and sympathizes to an extent, it probably can't actually be seen on his face, and he's as blunt as ever. Sorry, bunny.]

You will find that there are few answers thus far. Focus on caution and survival to begin.
sewayaku: (A CAN OF FIZZ)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-11-27 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ few answers? Wonderful. He can't just sit here and wait for them to appear while Fiona might be in danger, though - so while he nods in response, he disagrees quietly in his head. ]

Of course. [ that way of life had been his for the past few days before coming here, anyway. ] I suppose there's actual danger present here, as well? Aside from turning us against each other, I ran into... some kind of monster earlier.
deontology: (I.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-11-28 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, there's that, yes...]

...Yes. [virtual danger, real danger...it sort of all blends together.] It is difficult to predict, however. The source of danger changes often.
sewayaku: (ey how you doin lil mama)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-10 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Are they so incapable of defending the city themselves?

[ even the cat princes did a better job protecting the capital, for the most part!! ]
deontology: (LXXVI.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-11 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
They are.

[QUITE FRANKLY.]

Either they are incompetent or malicious. There is no excusing their behavior otherwise.
sewayaku: (A CAN OF FIZZ)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-12 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ zara doesn't know what's worse. ]

... I'd like to imagine it's the former. If they had ill intentions towards us, it seems they would have already killed us by now.
deontology: (LXXV.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-13 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Assuming that death is the end-game for them, which Sousei is less certain of after talking to Hinata and all of his jamjar paranoia....but for now, Sousei just inclines his head in acknowledgement.

Not like it's worth stirring up panic over what is just suspicions.]

If it is the former, then they have no intentions of improving, from the looks of things.

[...]

It doesn't matter much at the moment, though. Just be certain to keep your guard up.
sewayaku: (this science is very anachronistic)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-13 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[ that's not very comforting, but he's sure it's good advice. After being chased around by giant bug(s) all morning, he's not feeling particularly inclined to let his guard down in the first place. ]

I'd say it matters quite a bit, actually. Understanding our captors is the first step to getting back home.
deontology: (LXVII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-14 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
[It does matter very much--if only for what they should think of their captors and what they should prepare for. But Sousei still doesn't think that considering proofless theories is their top priority at the moment.

Regardless, he's not going to argue the point either.]

I agree that that is our most important goal at present. Still, it may save time in the future if you focus first on acclimating.

[Once you have a house and food and stuff, then help the rest of them find a way out.]
sewayaku: (2hot4me)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-15 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. There's nothing much I can do right now, regardless.

[ other than not eat this suspicious burger, which is an activity he's going to continue to partake in. Acclimate... Zara had lived in the same place for almost 10 years, but before that, he'd moved around a lot. Rabbits were a nomadic people. Surely, he can acclimate to this place, too.

Even if it feels impossible right now. His long purple ears quiver. ]

I assume they do not always provide food like this for us?
deontology: (XXVIII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-15 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
[A very wise activity, Sousei approves. Nonetheless, he nods simply in response, because at least it's easy when the person catches on quick.

(He's trying very hard to not stare at those ears. So far, he's being successful.

It wouldn't do to be rude to someone non-human just because they look different......)]

That's correct. Food, lodgings and the like will have to be obtained on your own. It isn't difficult to earn money here, though it...can be troublesome.

[Working for them, he means.]
sewayaku: ([ruffles flutter angrily])

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-17 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Troublesome...? Is the work difficult?

[ several options race through his mind. Life had seemed civilian enough here, based on what he'd seen, but he hasn't forgotten their supposed purpose in being here - to fight some kind of battle against an unknown but dangerous enemy. What they do could range anywhere from stocking and supplying to actual front-line fighting. ]
deontology: (LIX.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-17 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...No. On occasion they offer jobs that are humiliating, likely to be just that, but they don't force you to take them.

[He just...doesn't like working for their kidnappers.]

It is the circumstances that leave a bad taste in my mouth.
sewayaku: (the dank stank)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-18 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ humiliating jobs. Again, Zara doesn't need to ask to understand what he means by that, and he nods rather grimly. ]

... Understandable. If what they say about our worlds is true, they're doing us a favor. But if it's not...

[ then they're just being taken advantage of completely. ]
deontology: (LVIII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-18 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
...Yes, that is correct.

[He hears the unspoken and agrees with it. If it's not, then they're really just pawns for whatever nonsense they're doing.]

You seem to have a solid grasp on the situation. Do you have further questions?
sewayaku: (hello. it's me.)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-19 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
None that I can think of. Thank you for your help, sir.

[ he says, with some air of finality - then seems to realize something, a small smile appearing on his formerly-solemn face. ]

Actually, just one thing. Could I have your name?
deontology: (XXVII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-19 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. My name is Abe no Sousei. And yours?

[He doesn't smile in return, but that's just because he's a killjoy--he at least seems to lighten up a bit now that they're not discussing their captors.]
sewayaku: (ey how you doin lil mama)

[personal profile] sewayaku 2014-12-20 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ that's a very foreign name. Zara's not sure how to parse it, which is a little bit embarrassing - but he can't be too hard on himself. There's only one way to learn. ]

Zara Skeens - but just Zara is fine. What should I call you? Sir Abe?
deontology: (LVIII.)

[personal profile] deontology 2014-12-21 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Someday he'll stop introducing himself this way. He probably should. Nobody ever knows what to do with his name.

(he won't, because he's a stubborn nerd when he wants to be.)]

That is fine. Zara, then.

If I discover further answers, I will tell you. [It's no hardship to let other people who are competent in on what he finds out, after all.]
