While CERES' programmers work on getting it back up and running, all new entrees this round will be going through a different level than usual. Only a single world is accessible at the moment, a simple one entitled 'CERESLearn.' "What the $%@& is this?" you must be thinking. Well, it's simple! It's a study program, of course! CERES' advanced AI technology is here to make sure you learn and that you learn sexily. Whether or not you pay attention to the actual content is up to you, the player. Please enjoy it while it lasts. They're here to teach you a variety of subjects and also to make you feel vaguely uncomfortable all over. New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves in a classroom with a new operator greeting them rather than Vidia. "Greetings and welcome to Cerealia! It's nice of you to join us at last. As you can see, we're just about to get started! Here are the instructions: ♥ Choose your subject of choice. They include things like medicine, math, CERES economics, CERES history, fun facts about Julius, engineering, and science! ♥ Choose your tutor. You can hire Astor, Hilda, or UN-Zippy ♥ They'll teach you slowly, deliberately, sensually. Then after that, they'll drill you hard and without stopping. ♥ Just when you think you've had enough, they'll quiz you all over until you're sweating and panting. ♥ For those of you who pass, you'll be welcomed well into Cerealia and be given a free voucher for a McCERES Mildly Content meal. Please enjoy!"

//SCENARIOS.EXE PHASE I [ xxxx ] Once you choose your lesson and your tutor, you will be transported to a classroom where you and a few other players who decide to choose the same lesson will sit with your tutor after school, getting knowledge taught to you by someone who seems more intent on learning what's under your clothes than filling your head with knowledge. They will be awkwardly stretching, dropping pencils by 'accident' on the floor, and bending down slowly to pick them up. Certain things might be spilling out of their clothes. Awkward things. They will breathe down your neck and make sure you are well-versed in their anatomy by the end of the lesson. Fortunately, it won't last long as their bodies start to flicker erratically. PHASE II [ xxxx ] Just as things begin to escalate, the flickering will grow intense until your tutor will start to morph before your eyes. What takes their place is something that is anything but friendly. And yes, it will continue to breathe down your neck and speak in a sweet, soft, alluring voice while reaching out with its 'hands' to try and touch you. This will be your cue to run through the halls of the school while That Thing chases you in every single direction imaginable. There will be others joining you as everyone starts bolting out of their classrooms. PHASE III [ xxxx ] Feeling tired already? Well, don't stop and rest now! For those who successfully murder their own tutor, they will get their food voucher and a lovely welcome into CERES. You've officially passed! Everyone will be allowed to mingle around the game room in the CERES Research Tower before being directed into McCERES just across the street. For those who were already in the colony, you will also receive a voucher and directions to McCERES at the end of the game in case you want to go meet up with the newcomers there or just eat some artery-killing fast food. PHASE IV [ xxxx ] For those who get eaten by That Thing or don't pass their quizzes and upset their tutors, they will be forced to endure the Price of Failure. This means being sent to the gym with the other 'failures' to endure a painfully slow and erotic striptease by UN-Zippy. Once that is over, they will then be logged out and allowed to have their complimentary McCERES voucher. BONUS [ whyo'clock ] Congratulations on surviving CERESLearn! Here's your complimentary voucher for a free Mildly Content Meal at McCERES. This month's special is also the McKnight Burger. Characters are immediately invited to take a load off and enjoy some good ol' fashion fast food of questionable origin. Those who decide to order and eat here will also get a special toy included inside their Mildly Content Meals. [Nesso is used to fighting with others, and he knows Zara well enough -- he likes to think anyway -- that it's not too hard to remain aware of him, where he is, the direction he's taken even as he concentrates on bringing his sword to bear against the creature's leg.

It shrieks, as much as a bug can shriek, and Nesso doesn't hesitate before going for another.

That's right, isn't it? They're just bringing it within range for a killing blow at this point in time, but with a foe this big, there's little choice. Luckily, battle is the only thing that's made much sense since he wound up here, so he falls into it easily, the familiar dance of swordplay.

Also slicing things is making him feel better in general. But by now they've managed to unbalance it.] Zara, be careful!

[Do not get squashed by the bug Nesso can't handle the irony.]

[ and likewise, Zara is as familiar with Nesso's fighting style as anyone might be, having been the one to spar with him for most of his life. The two of them make a good match, and with the bug having no special powers in particular that might give it the advantage other than its size, their victory seems guaranteed.

That doesn't mean he can't get squished. He's careful enough, and Nesso's warning is nothing more than extra incentive to take a few long steps out of the bug's shadow as it topples to the side. ]

Now, Nesso!

[Guaranteed victory would be excellent, but Nesso is realistic enough to not count his chickens before they hatch. So once he's sure that Zara is clear, he's wheeling about on the downed creature.

He brings his sword in a wide arc, aiming for the thing's head -- aiming for what he thinks is the thing's head -- and brings it down hard, enough to make quite a mess. Monster guts everywhere, but after a few violent spasms, the thing stops moving and Nesso draws his sword free, not yet sheathing it.

His eyes go immediately to Zara.] Are you all right? [And then,] Where's Fiona? Have you seen her? [She has to be here too, right?]

[ that's gross, and Zara is thankful that he stepped well enough away from the thing to receive only minor splatters, but that's the reality of battle. He's seen worse in his life.

Once he's certain that it's not going to get back up, he moves to conceal his weapon again, but barely finishes before Nesso runs up to him. He knows what he's going to say. After all, it's the same thing that he's been thinking. Grim-faced, he shakes his head. ]

I'm fine, but I've seen no sign of the young lady. She may have been in another classroom -- we need to keep looking.

[sisconning]

[Knight life, Zara. It's a messy existence. Nesso will need to discover dry cleaners soon. For now though he'll suffice with wiping the gore from his blade even as he listens hopefully to Zara's answer.

Which is the one he was afraid of.

But okay, a nod.] Then we'll check every room.

[Ahem. He's not done speaking though, because even if he's obsessive and worried and a little frantic about finding Fiona, he is good at being a complete bantering dork even in the worst situations.] If her tutor is half as inappropriate as the woman leading my class... aah, I don't even like thinking about it. [Because yeah someone hitting on Fiona is the trouble here, Nesso. Not that it's secretly a giant angry insect.]

[ sadly for the rest of us, Zara sees absolutely nothing objectionable about searching every single room here for Fiona. It's what he was expecting from Nesso - and even if Nesso hadn't said so, he would have done it himself. The thought of her being scared and alone somewhere made his hair stand on end, and... well, Nesso covered the rest of it. He wrinkles his nose in displeasure. ]

... We'd better find her quickly. [ he's not sure what's worse to imagine - a giant bug coming after her or some strange man getting handsy with her. ] Which way did you come from?

[Well they're on the same page then, which is good. And not surprising. He's known Zara long enough that he knows how the other man thinks; he's fully aware that the rabbit's affection for Fiona is as strong as his own.]

Agreed.

[But yeah he doesn't want to imagine either thing god he can't he'll wind up crying if he thinks too hard about it.]

That direction. [A gesture off one of the smaller hallways.] And you?

[sewayaku]

[ he responds with a curt nod over his shoulder, indicating the long open way behind him - where a few people can still be seen scuttling away. ]

I didn't check every room. Should we start there and go forward?

[ yes. every room. ]

[No arguments from Nesso. So he ducks his head in a quick nod, making sure he's got a hold of his sword. Any bugs stand in his way, he'll take them down. They could be between him and Fiona, after all.

And nothing gets between him and Fiona.]

Stay sharp, Zara. There may be more of those things.

[This place really sucks. But even as he starts off to begin checking the first door, he glances back.] Somehow though, I do feel better now that we've run into each other here. I'm glad to have you with me.

[Now come on, they have a precious princess to find and rescue.]
