![]() ViViD's usual worlds are unfortunately down for maintenance. While CERES' programmers work on getting it back up and running, all new entrees this round will be going through a different level than usual. Only a single world is accessible at the moment, a simple one entitled 'CERESLearn.' "What the $%@& is this?" you must be thinking. Well, it's simple! It's a study program, of course! CERES' advanced AI technology is here to make sure you learn and that you learn sexily. Whether or not you pay attention to the actual content is up to you, the player. Please enjoy it while it lasts. They're here to teach you a variety of subjects and also to make you feel vaguely uncomfortable all over. New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves in a classroom with a new operator greeting them rather than Vidia.

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post. For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing everyone's usual arrival experience (which is not entirely applicable this round for reasons stated above^) and a FAQ that should explain everything in more detail. Please read them thoroughly before playing. Thank you! |

But he lapses into momentary silence at the question, since there isn't really an answer he can give.]
Mm... I don't really know what the world was called. We didn't see much of it - just an amusement park called Dreamland and an abandoned warehouse a few miles away from it.
no subject
I see. I have never heard of it, my apologies. [ There are many other worlds besides the ones he has visited, after all. ] I did visit a nexus point between worlds, too - but I doubt it is the same as yours. [ Oz could have appeared outside the dome, but it's highly unlikely. ]
Such places do give us many opportunities to learn about other cultures.
no subject
[Because if he had, he probably went through the same thing, and that's an experience Oz wouldn't even wish on Jack. BUT, he'd much rather focus on the good rather than the overwhelming bad, like the friends that he managed to make and as Takakage has said, the different learning opportunities.]
I learned a lot of things while I was there, it's true. Things like TVs and music videos and movies and Blue Velvet... Oh— and cell phones! Was it the same for you?
no subject
He covers up the slight lapse with a nod. ] Likewise. I met those of the future, and they showed me many things that had been created since I passed on.
[ And he's smiling now, thinking about all the time he's spent reading and catching up. ]
After all that time, there are still people who hold books in high regard. It's wonderful.
no subject
I guess no matter how many things might change, there will always be a few that stay the same. It's comforting, isn't it? No matter how much of the world becomes unrecognizable, those little pieces will still exist.
no subject
[ But back to books. ]
Do you like books, Oz? [ Dear lord there better be people who can still appreciate the beauty of literature in this place. ]
no subject
I do! I haven't really had the chance to read anything in a while, but it's one of my favorite things to spend my time on. Nothing can beat sitting down and getting lost in a good book!
no subject
Beautiful. I am so glad that there are still individuals who can appreciate books in this time and place. [ His voice gets a little condescending here. ] There is a library here, but the majority of their books have been degraded into mere text files.
But! If you are interested in books, I have a small collection that you can peruse.
no subject
The collection does indeed seem to pique his interest, though! His expression brightens a little and he nods once.]
Would that be all right? If it really would, I'd love to!
no subject
[ BUT YES. BOOKS. ]
Of course! [ Books are meant to be shared. ] I have esoteric interests, so not everything may be to your taste. What genres do you prefer?
no subject
I'm not too picky, though! Historical texts, novels, biographies... But if I'm honest, my favorite books are fantasy. [HOLY KNIGHT.]
no subject
Wonderful. [ He says this evenly, beaming. ] I have them, yes. Have you heard of the Lord of the Rings series? It was written by an Earth human - a main trilogy that spawned many, many books set in the same setting. There is also the Harry Potter series, again, written by an Earth woman. Not only a bestseller, but a book entrancing children and adults alike. I have the whole set.
[ And a lot, a lot, more. ]
no subject
I've never read anything that comes from Earth before. [Being from a weird fantasy rendition of pseudo-Victorian Europe and all on some unidentified vague planet...] So if you suggest those, I can start there! How many books are in the Harry Potter series? Oh—! And do you know if they have Holy Knight here?
no subject
Seven. Regrettably the authoress has not had as productive a writing career as the man who painted the Lord of the Rings, but it does come with a few supplementary materails. [ But of Holy Knight... ] I'm afraid I haven't heard of it. [ Even with his extensive reading. ] But since this is a nexus city, they should have it somewhere...
[ He taps his chin thoughtfully. ]
I'll look around, and see if I can find any.
no subject
Thank you! I hope they have it... It's my very favorite series, so if they do, I suggest that you give it a read!
[In exchange for the recommendations he's been given so far and all!!]
no subject
[ But to bring the topic all the way back to what he had originally intended to ask... ]
By the by, do you have your access card with you, and know where your apartment is?
[ Some of the new arrivals don't just yet. ]
no subject
I think so... Ah! This thing, right? [And he extracts his card, looking up curiously and holding it out.]
no subject
Yes, this. It serves as your identity card here. Please don't lose it. [ Getting a new one is quite a hassle, too. ] It's also a credit card - it carries your virtual money so you don't have to put bills in a wallet.
[ Personally, he preferred paper money, but oh well. ]
You get a free house here, too. That card will be the key.
no subject
A free house is nice, too! Those are all in the housing district, right? I heard someone talking about the apartments earlier.
no subject
They certainly look after the basics quite well. That being said, if you find the devices inside puzzling, you can contact me. I can explain them to you.
[ He himself didn't rely on much technology, but he certainly knows how they work. ]
no subject
Thanks! I think I'll go take a look at the apartments first, but once I get settled, maybe we can meet again?
no subject
[ But speaking of messages. ]
Ah, by the way - sometimes unnecessary and irrelevant mail may end up in your inbox. Might I suggest tweaking the privacy settings of your messages? I filtered mine so that only humans can access it.
[ So far nothing has bypassed the barrier, but you never know. ]
no subject
I think that I might need some help figuring that out later, but I'll save it for after I'm done with everything else. Thanks for letting me know! You've really been a lot of help.
no subject
[ But he's taken up a lot of Oz's time, already. ] Shall I see you around, then?
no subject
But he'll nod at that.]
Mm! Take care until then! [And with a parting wave, HE'S OFF, probably to go collect his dumb roommate.]
