You gotta stick together in horror movies [Closed]
Who: Lapis Fathalla
oneirism & Cyrus Crautz
soulist
When: IC: 1/16
Where: Lapis' apartment!
What: Two dorks have a bad horror movie night.
Rating/Warning: None!
[It's been a while since Lapis has actually sat down and watched movies, so when she had brought up this idea to Cyrus, she found herself happy that he was okay with a bad movie night. Of course she couldn't really find the exact movie they had talked about before, but it looks like Cerealia had something similar – if "Night Terror on Oak Road" and it's many sequels was any indication of that.
Luckily working two jobs means she has the credits to get a few good, or more like bad, horror movies. Along with some popcorn and cookies she baked (which are actually normal-sized instead of that huge one), and they're pretty much set. Except they haven't decided which movie to start with yet.
So on the tv screen there's a few selections, such as same of the movies from the “Night Terror on Oak Road” series, as well as some from the “Thursday the 14th” and “The Western Buzz Saw Slaughter” series, among others. Lapis scrolls through some of them, her expression vaguely thoughtful, before glancing over at Cyrus from where she's parked herself on the arm of the sofa.]

But he was getting used to taking things slow and to actually enjoy his time here, regardless of how messed up and strange this place was. For all it was cracked up to be there was something inherently foreboding about this place that he couldn't shake off. But those thoughts and ideas were put on hold as he sat in Lapis' living room staring at the screen with incredulity written all over his face. He had brought some food of his own too, mostly drinks for them to share and have alongside the popcorn and whatever else Lapis had cooked up. ]
...they all sound kind of terrible. I guess Night Terror on Oak Road?
[ Does it even really matter? His tone suggests that he's not too picky on what terrible horror movies they watch. ] I can't really imagine any of them being that much better than the other.

... Alright, then.
[So she plays that movie, not really playing attention to the pretty cheesy opening as she nods in agreement and sips her drink.] They all pretty much scream 'this movie is awful'. Especially since they sound like bad rip-offs of the the movies from home.

It's not really as effective when you've seen things ten times worse, you know? [ Out of all the people Lapis is probably extremely familiar with that sort of thing. ]
But I guess the effort shouldn't go unnoticed.

... Some have almost got there, but then they ruin it by the end. [She raises her eyebrows as she watches the bad acting and the character acting like an idiot for a moment, before looking back at Cyrus.]
Mmhm, that's true. It's even worse when they get things completely wrong, so it's hard to take it seriously at all. [Lapis always judges ghost movies intensely.]
At least they're creative... Even if most of the characters are pretty stupid.

[ He'll continue to watch, extremely unimpressed by this whole thing to be honest. But his eyes do narrow when that sudden spooky music plays and the killer, obscured by shadows, pops up on the screen. ]
It's so cliche...and bad. [ He coughs again as he shakes his head. ] Let me guess she's not going to run away? [ And truth be told the woman actually doesn't run away but goes to investigate the clearly spooky dark hallway and extremely dangerous situation. ]

[Lapis is unimpressed too, and the spooky music just makes her judge even harder, since she's a huge music nerd. She shifts to rest her chin on her hands, humming in agreement before huffing in amusement at how he's totally right.]
... I can confirm that some people do actually do that. [She watches as the killer creeps up on the girl, 'hrm'-ing as the music starts to build up and try to make it all seem ominous.] When I ask them why, they said that they wanted to investigate. So then I show them a ghost, and then they finally get smart and run away.

I can honestly say that's not too surprising. People, humans or otherwise, all have something in common. Curiosity. I guess it's just built into everyone's system throughout the universe. [ There next comes the part where the killer takes his first victim and the opening credits begin to roll. ]
At least if people had supernatural powers I could understand them investigating. But these normal humans don't stand a chance most of the time. [ People were just dumb as hell he guessed, more so in cheesy horror movies it seemed. ]

She watches the opening credits and then it starts with a scene with the teenage main characters talking about the weird death and how they need to investigate it, and so on.]
I guess they just want to get a chance to see something they might never see again. Or to investigate something they really shouldn't, like in the movie. [She pauses to shove a cookie into her mouth, humming to herself in thought for a moment.]
At least some movies give them plot devices to bail them out at the last second.
