Who: abe no "i'm so gloomy now" sousei & all of you people
When: IC: 1/21-23 || OOC: 6/17-20ish WHENEVER
Where: Various, catch him wherever suits!
What: What do you do when your partner's gone missing? Do dumb things and check on all of his adopted children, naturally.
Rating/Warning: None!
a. open - around the shopping district;
[At first, he didn't really think anything was wrong. Tenka going missing was naturally concerning, but he could've been at work, or the like. But as the day drags on and he doesn't show up, Sousei actually picks up his phone to call him.

That's...that's very bad. Don't mind Sousei just standing in the middle of the sidewalk staring down at the CereVice in his hand.
At least, until he snaps back into action, turns abruptly, and starts going in the other direction. Too bad he didn't look where he was going first, hopefully his abrupt stop and equally abrupt direction change didn't cause any traffic jams.
Otherwise he can be found poking his head into shops and through alleyways and possibly even opening up and peering into trash cans. What does he think he's going to find there? Who knows. He has to give it a try, though. Even if he does look ridiculous with a trash can lid held over his head.]
b. open - gym;
[And as it drifts into the next day with still no Tenka, Sousei has to admit what he very much doesn't want to--namely that Tenka's gone, and they have no idea if he'll come back or anything. The city has only just started to run properly again after that entire ghost scare; still, it's hard to really appreciate that when it's becoming starkly obvious that everything is not quite right now.
Which is why he can be found in the gym even before his shift begins, practicing. It's good to practice. It's a good way to stay fit, and sharp, which is necessary after that entire fiasco.
Of course, he may be taking this a little too far, as the time drags on into hours and his breathing comes in short, sharp pants. He should probably take a break, but it doesn't seem like it's all too likely right now.]
c. semi-open: to tenka's close cr/people he adopted/etc;
[If Tenka knew you or was trying to take care of you or wanted to help you in some way or was even just amused by you, chances are he told Sousei. And now, as it edges into the third and four and fifth day and still no sign of Tenka coming back, he has to admit that that's probably the case. It had taken Soramaru two weeks to come back, so it isn't as though there isn't hope--but even so, he can't leave this for two weeks.
So he goes to perform his Not Fun Dad duties (which, for the record, he never signed up for). So if Tenka knew your address, he'll be awkwardly knocking on your door, or if he otherwise sees you around the city, he'll be approaching.
Awkwardly.
Sorry if you've never met him before, but he has a Duty to perform, and that duty is looking out for Tenka's gigantic swarm of adoptees and making sure they're all okay after that entire ViViD and technological fiasco.]
Excuse me.
[Don't mind him. He's just a little more Awkward than Tenka--and he's a little tired, though it's hard to tell from his face.]

Her expression doesn't change much beyond a faint ripple of shock as her eyes search Sousei's face. Considering it's Sousei, she doubts this is a joke.]
Is that... so?
[And even she's surprised by how hesitant her voice is, like someone else is speaking for her.]
You're certain?
no subject
[The shock isn't a surprise; it's...a shock. For anyone. For everyone. It feels like just yesterday Tenka was grabbing his arm and saying they had to do everything together, that "so long as it's you"--
Which is pointless now, of course. Tenka's not here.]
It has been a few days now. I have seen instances of people returning after two weeks, but... there is no guarantee. That is the situation.
[And if he does return, he might not remember--
That's a difficult thought for him to swallow too.]
no subject
[Again, it kind of sounds like an echoing in her ears, like someone's kindly holding a normal conversation in her place while she's still struggling to process it. It's one thing for Souda and Hanamura, classmates she was never particularly close to, to suddenly cease to be an outlying part of her life, but for someone who'd gotten so close in such a short period of time...?
Before she can comment further, there's a high-pitched whistling from within the apartment that jolts her back to herself.]
Ah... I was... making tea. Please, come in.
[Finally remembering her manners, she takes a step back to invite him in. Her apartment doesn't look terribly different from Tenka's and Sousei's, at least since she'd last been over. Hardwood flooring, a couch, and a low table with cushions for seating sit opposite a television. In one corner, there's a small kamidana mounted on the wall, in another, a folding screen with a tiger on it.]
no subject
[...Ah. Well. If she's inviting him in, he'll accept the invitation. It's only polite, after all. And not even Sousei can ditch and run after dropping something like that on Peko.
Quietly, politely, he removes his shoes before stepping in (her decor is as traditional as theirs, and it at least feels good to acknowledge some of the traditions that are specific to their country, rare as it can be) and then he pauses, inspecting the rest of the apartment without...actually physically poking around.
Admittedly, the kamidana is fascinating to him (it would have to be, with his family's background), but he doesn't go prying further. Yet.
Instead, he'll continue the conversation.]
Two of your classmates as well? How recently is this? [There haven't been any patterns so far, but...he can't just give up. He has to try.]
no subject
Yes, [she confirms from the kitchen as she keeps working, doing an impressive job of keeping her voice steady. The tray that she emerges with has a teapot and two small traditional cups on it, along with a box of assorted teabags; her grip on it, while tight, doesn't shake noticeably at all.] Hanamura Teruteru and Souda Kazuichi we only discovered a few days ago, on the 14th. Hinata had wanted to invite them to Jazukure's pool party, but when he tried to contact them...
[She exhales through her nose and sets the tray down, motioning for Sousei to join her as she kneels on one of the cushions at the table.]
I am not certain how long it had been since they... disappeared, however. None of us were in constant contact with them.
no subject
Stop being so cute. But at least he doesn't quite recognize those volumes for what they are (alas) though he's certainly looking around with some curiosity. It keeps his mind off of things. If nothing else, Peko is the person who is most like what he remembers from back home. Poise, discipline, and quiet, those things have been in short supply since coming here.
Sousei doesn't recognize the names, but there's the thought that Tenka might (not that he can ask him now).
He follows suit, settling neatly at the table.]
... I see. It has been three days since Tenka disappeared. [At least living with someone makes it starkly obvious.] I had known people to appear again after those three days, but...
[But Tenka did not. So here he is, to break the bad news.]
... I cannot imagine these disappearances are connected.
no subject
But she just stares at the teapot for a moment before nodding. Three days... she actually feels a little guilty for not having noticed before then, though of course she couldn't really be expected to.
Automatically, she's pulling a bag of oolong tea for herself, pushing the box a little closer to Sousei in case he wants to pick something for himself. There's a good mix of oolong and green teas in there, along with some that are expressly calming? Maybe she got the idea from Mabel getting some for Kuzuryuu. Not a bad idea to keep around for when he comes over.]
There is no pattern that I can see, [she agrees quietly, waiting to see if he'll pick any tea before pouring herself a cup.] Though... there are not many cases that I am aware of to begin forming a pattern.
no subject
But anyway.
Sousei inspects the tea in the box idly, and takes one of the bags of green tea from it through a mixture of politeness and general willingness. He never minds having a proper sit down like this; it's too few and far between for him, as far as things that remind him from home are concerned.
But the subject matter is...still difficult.]
I'm afraid I'm not aware of enough to form a pattern either. As people disappear without warning, I am not sure that there is a good way to keep track enough to find a pattern, if one does exist.
[There are too many questions, not enough answers.
After a moment, he shakes his head. That's not what's important anyway.]
...Regardless, I have also come to tell you that-- [These sorts of things...don't come easily to him, but nonetheless, Tenka's role is now left to him, and he does intend to complete it to the best of his ability.] --Tenka opened the doors of our home to you, and that remains the case regardless of his presence.
[Or lack thereof. But...Sousei can worry about Peko too, so he wants her to know that she still has a place there too.]
no subject
Once he picks a teabag, she leans across the table to pour some water into the cup opposite her own in another vague gesture of hospitality. It's all going through the motions for her, right now, and focusing on investigation rather than sorrow is something she has practice with.]
Perhaps if there were a way to gather reports... attempting to contact every single person present in this city is next to impossible, but some kind of program perhaps...? Hinata may have some ideas.
[And then she's quiet again, working to prepare her own tea. Someone's going to have to tell Hinata about Tenka, if Sousei hasn't already... it's tough to think about, being the bearer of news like that. Abruptly, Sousei gains another level of respect, in her mind, for doing this for her.]
I--
[And then there's visible surprise as she tears her attention away from her tea to instead meet Sousei's eyes.]
I... appreciate that offer. Truly. I do not wish to impose, but... I will keep it in mind. And the same is true of you, of course.
[Her apartment might not have the kind of steady warmth she's come to expect from anywhere Tenka has spent time, but it does have quiet. And in some cases, that may be even more important.]
no subject
They are making great strides and attempts at trying to be socially competent...!!
He wasn't really expecting the return off, though. It's a kind offer, and he blinks. Imposing on her hospitality isn't something he really wants to do, but even so...the offer itself is nice on its own.
He inclines his head simply, and finally sips the tea, putting it down gently.]
Thank you. [It's unlikely he'll take her up on it; not only does he want to impose, but now of all times he wants to keep an eye on the others in his apartment.]
... I will tell the others that Tenka was close to as well about his disappearance. It is better to learn of it this way.
[Than to not be able to contact him when you need him.]
no subject
[Once finished with her own tea, she just holds the small cup in her hands, the weight reassuring and warm enough to keep her hands from shaking. She's used to death, but with Tenka just being gone like this, with no one to exact revenge on... she's not exactly sure what to do or feel.
Instead, she focuses on Sousei himself, giving him a small frown.]
That... will be difficult for you, [she states quietly, lips firming into a thin line as she looks down into her cup.] But... you are right. Thank you, for doing that. I'll let the young master know, but the others...
[There are surely so many people Tenka must have been close to... she doesn't envy Sousei his task at all.]
no subject
[It's an automatic response, even though clearly untrue; Peko probably knows how that goes. To acknowledge weakness of any sort would be, in a way, to give into that weakness, and so it's something Sousei simply cannot do. It will hurt to deliver this news to everyone, yes. It may be beyond his capability to handle (he knows he is not the most comforting person around).
But at the very least, he won't say so out loud.]
I will handle the others, and leave your young master to you. ...Thank you. [She was a patient, helpful listener, and someone who understands him better than the others, which is why she was one of the first he came to.
But he can't exactly say that.]
For your hospitality.
no subject
[She doubts that it won't be any trouble, but she isn't about to say so. Were their positions somehow reversed, she would say the same thing. Instead, she just nods in quiet thanks to him leaving Kuzuryuu to her.
Then she blinks at being thanked herself, meeting his eyes for a moment. Then-- ah. Of course he means for that.]
It is no trouble.
[She can't imagine it's for anything else, really. If he's saying so, that's what it's for, though she can't help but repeat his own words back to him.]
no subject
No, he won't stick around. He has more people to tell regardless.
This is fine. Somehow, they'll both be fine.
So, neatly, he stands.]
Then I will leave you to it, for now.
[He already thanked her for her hospitality, so all that's left is.....to go.
Awkwardly.]no subject
This is fine.
She still hasn't finished her tea by the time Sousei stands, but she sets the cup down and stands as well, nodding again.]
Thank you. And... thank you for stopping by.
[Hang on bro, she'll walk you to the door. That's about all she's got, though.]
