Who: abe no "i'm so gloomy now" sousei & all of you people
When: IC: 1/21-23 || OOC: 6/17-20ish WHENEVER
Where: Various, catch him wherever suits!
What: What do you do when your partner's gone missing? Do dumb things and check on all of his adopted children, naturally.
Rating/Warning: None!
a. open - around the shopping district;
[At first, he didn't really think anything was wrong. Tenka going missing was naturally concerning, but he could've been at work, or the like. But as the day drags on and he doesn't show up, Sousei actually picks up his phone to call him.
User not Registered.
That's...that's very bad. Don't mind Sousei just standing in the middle of the sidewalk staring down at the CereVice in his hand.
At least, until he snaps back into action, turns abruptly, and starts going in the other direction. Too bad he didn't look where he was going first, hopefully his abrupt stop and equally abrupt direction change didn't cause any traffic jams.
Otherwise he can be found poking his head into shops and through alleyways and possibly even opening up and peering into trash cans. What does he think he's going to find there? Who knows. He has to give it a try, though. Even if he does look ridiculous with a trash can lid held over his head.]
b. open - gym;
[And as it drifts into the next day with still no Tenka, Sousei has to admit what he very much doesn't want to--namely that Tenka's gone, and they have no idea if he'll come back or anything. The city has only just started to run properly again after that entire ghost scare; still, it's hard to really appreciate that when it's becoming starkly obvious that everything is not quite right now.
Which is why he can be found in the gym even before his shift begins, practicing. It's good to practice. It's a good way to stay fit, and sharp, which is necessary after that entire fiasco.
Of course, he may be taking this a little too far, as the time drags on into hours and his breathing comes in short, sharp pants. He should probably take a break, but it doesn't seem like it's all too likely right now.]
c. semi-open: to tenka's close cr/people he adopted/etc;
[If Tenka knew you or was trying to take care of you or wanted to help you in some way or was even just amused by you, chances are he told Sousei. And now, as it edges into the third and four and fifth day and still no sign of Tenka coming back, he has to admit that that's probably the case. It had taken Soramaru two weeks to come back, so it isn't as though there isn't hope--but even so, he can't leave this for two weeks.
So he goes to perform his Not Fun Dad duties (which, for the record, he never signed up for). So if Tenka knew your address, he'll be awkwardly knocking on your door, or if he otherwise sees you around the city, he'll be approaching.
Awkwardly.
Sorry if you've never met him before, but he has a Duty to perform, and that duty is looking out for Tenka's gigantic swarm of adoptees and making sure they're all okay after that entire ViViD and technological fiasco.]
Excuse me.
[Don't mind him. He's just a little more Awkward than Tenka--and he's a little tired, though it's hard to tell from his face.]

In fact, she responds to Sousei with a question of her own. ]
You're investigating something, aren't you? I'm a pretty good trespasser and nose-sticker! Maybe I can help.
[ That's the worst way to describe your job, but at least she's honest. ]
no subject
[...Well, she's not wrong. he is investigating. It's just something that they've already gotten "answers" to, he knows that much.
...Hm.]
I am searching for someone. You are familiar with Kumou Tenka, correct? [Most bright and sunny people (which Athena seems to be for sure) are, in the end.]
no subject
[ She immediately brightens at the mention of her acquaintance's name. Truthfully, they aren't very close, but Athena looks up to him for his enthusiasm. Her sudden burst of joy is short-lived when it registers that Sousei is looking for him.
Her reaction is fast: she pulls out her CereVice and checks her contacts list, furiously scrolling through it. She hasn't noticed anybody missing yet, as she's been busy checking up on her close friends and yelling at them if they were injured. Any other day, she'd be refreshing the contacts list like a maniac to see if there's anybody missing.
This whole "code" thing and the issue of worlds being destroyed has clearly gotten her paranoid.
After checking the list two or three times, her shoulders slump, and the necklace she has on suddenly changes colour. It turns from sky blue to purple, and displays a crying emoticon. ]
... Oh.
[ That's it. That's all she can say for now. She barely knows Tenka, but this is still very sad news. ]
no subject
Still...it's not pleasant to see someone so bright and vibrant droop that much. Just another bit of evidence for how much Tenka influenced the world around him, and yet he'd never truly believed it. Sousei had told him that, when Otsu had mourned, and..
He hadn't believed it.
He wonders if Tenka would believe it now.]
...Yes, I know. And I know that we have received an explanation of what happens to those who disappear. [the...Nexus Code, or whatever, he'd paid attention to that broadcast, but even so...]
But I still intend to look. [fruitless as he knows it will be.]
no subject
Athena pokes at her earring, humming as she thinks. It shouldn't be unusual for people to disappear after something strange has happened, although they just seem to go more unnoticed since everyone's preoccupied with other things. Though perhaps Tenka's disappearance could be related to the what had happened the past days?
Her initial thought is to ask where Sousei has looked, but nobody would be searching an odd hiding place like. . . this if he hasn't searched the obvious ones, right? So it's probably best not to ask that for now. ]
Have you tried looking for him in ViViD? [ It doesn't seem like a place people would consider right away, if they wanted to search for people, so Athena brings it up. Not to mention, the ongoings of recent makes her think that there might be people stuck in the game. ]
no subject
Still...that's not a bad point. Sousei hadn't really wanted to return to ViViD, considering the mess it had been before, but if Tenka's lost somewhere in there... he can't imagine why he would be unless things glitched again, but so long as the possibility was there...]
... I will look there next.
[Seems more likely than the trash can, at least. A pause, and he looks her over more thoughtfully.]
Do you have any other suggestions?
no subject
A lot of her friends have gone missing: back to being an incomplete code, or whatever. She doesn't fully believe in what was told to her by CERES, but she considers it as the most probable thing than anything else. It makes her very upset when she realises her friends have gone missing, but she cheers up at the idea that they may come back once their codes have been restored. It's one of the things that keeps her from staying in her room all day and sulking. ]
No, not right now. But I can definitely help you look.
[ And so, she smiles warmly at Sousei in response. He's doing something and isn't just sulking after possibly losing a friend. That's the spirit!!!!!!! GOOD MAN. ATHENA WILL SUPPORT YOU IN EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO. This is who everyone should be embodying!!!!!!!!11
In fact, Athena is so moved by Sousei's actions and emotions that she's tearing up. Look at what you've done.... (Sniff.) ]
no subject
Sousei just stares at her for a long moment, nonplussed, before he clears his throat.
How do you comfort a crying girl......
Can he just...pretend it's not happening.... okay, that's plan a, he's rolling with it.]
If you want to search as well, I won't stop you. There is a lot of ground to cover.
[a pause.]
However, if you are going to go into ViViD, make sure that you have someone else with you regardless of your own combat ability. There is no way of knowing what glitches still remain there.
no subject
No, that's not going to happen.
But she does sniff in between her words. She doesn't mean to get emotional; these tears just come out naturally. And it's good that he's pretending this isn't happening, because she would be in complete denial about it. ]
I'll even draw posters of him if you like! I know what it's like to lose a friend here.
[ Friend is an understatement. More like an entire posse and then some. ]
no subject
But okay... okay, he'll keep pretending like she isn't crying, and Athena can keep acting like everything is normal, and they'll be fine--
Posters, though.
He's quick to shake his head, frowning slightly.]
He had...many friends here. That is not the way anyone should find out that he is gone. [not that Sousei telling people is much better than a missing persons poster, but at least...a little better???
He's trying to be sympathetic here okay.]
no subject
They're bound to find out, anyway. But I don't know Tenka that well, so I suppose I'll leave it to you.
no subject
So he clarifies simply:]
I am aware of that. I will be telling them so.
[At least he's not lacking in a dutiful side.]
no subject
Is there anybody else you're looking for? I'll try to be on the look out for them, too.
no subject
No, there is no one else.
[He's not looking for anyone else.
If nothing else, he has a one-track mind.]
But if there are more people that you know of who have disappeared, I will look for them as well.
no subject
It's fine. They'll be back... so, it's okay.
no subject
Tell me who has disappeared that you know.
If there is a pattern, we may be able to find it. And it does not hurt to search for them as well, when I am already looking for Tenka.
no subject
no subject
[He's not sure how much he buys into that, but at least it removes some of the work he'd otherwise have to do.]
And what else has she confirmed?
no subject
[ She acts like she has it in control now, but it really is something she thinks about very often. ]
She didn't exactly confirm anything, but she compared our codes to our mental health. So if we take care of ourselves, then there's no way we'd get affected.
no subject
But Tenka had been....
Or at least, he'd thought he had.]
...You are sure about that?
[He's not sure if that helps or hurts, in the end, to know.]
no subject
Rin said she was sure, but I'm sure she was just trying to make me feel better.
It does the job though, doesn't it? So when you worry about yourself possibly disappearing, just try to take care of yourself better. It's the right thing to do, anyway.
[ Oh, but she quickly notices that she's deviated from the whole Tenka being missing topic. She brings it back to him again— ] I'm sure Tenka would be upset the same way you are if your code got corrupted.
[ Is she even making sense right now??? Who cares; lawyers hardly make sense anyway? There's that, and she'll say whatever it takes to get someone in a positive disposition again. ]
no subject
[Though he does understand what she's saying. Sousei has a duty to stay present and whole as much as possible while he can, because there are people depending on him here--especially with Tenka gone.
A pause.]
But I will continue to be cautious, to be certain it does not happen.
no subject
Right. That's good to hear.
[ She may not know Sousei very well, but nobody should be taking themselves for granted!! ]
Anyway, I need to go do some shopping of my own. If you need help with investigating or something, please let me know.
no subject
Nonetheless, Sousei simply nods in response to that. He won't ask her, probably, because he's terrible at asking for him and because, quite honestly, they're not going to find Tenka. He knows that. It doesn't matter how many people search.]
Very well then. Do not let me keep you.
[And he won't wait for a response from her, instead continuing on past her neatly. He learned a few things, and he delivered the news, but standing around and doing nothing just makes it worse for him right now.]
