Who: YOU, MY FRIEND & The friendly staff of Thistle Do Nicely, a humble flower shop.
When: IC: 29th January to February 14th (OOC: Starts 3rd July, full month log.)
Where: Thistle Do Nicely, Shopping District.
What: It's nearly Valentine's Day, so there's sales and events! Want to learn how to make chocolate? Look here! Cashing in your coupon for the upcoming Blind Date player event? That's here too! This is a mingle log, so everyone come mingle to your hearts content, and come in anytime, there's no such thing as late.
Rating/Warning: Nothing so far. There might be some future nightmares.
NOTE: There are some forward-dated prompts/part of prompts in this log. This is to coincide with the Blind Date Player Plot this month! More links and updates will be posted here once they come up.
Also if you wanna know how this works, it's just a mingle! An example here, our previous open mingle log. Treat it however you like, open and closed options welcome.
--------
Welcome to Thistle Do Nicely! Make yourself comfortable and browse the grand selection. In spirit of upcoming Valentine's Day, the store is decorated in pink and red, hearts scattered here and there. Sweet soft toys are on display, and there are bargains to be found. The tea shop is also decked out, but there seems to be something extra special happening on that side too.
A: ROSES ARE RED, VIOLETS ARE DISCOUNTED
[Are you here for the flowers? Sure you are, it's a grand tradition that all Valentines must share: the giving of flowers to loved ones. Roses are a definite favourite, but maybe you're after something more unique? Then look no further! Ask one of your friendly staff about it. Or maybe they're coming to you! But if they do, some may have the misfortunate of being told by the mysterious NPC boss to repeat the following: "What can Cupid's assistant do for you today?" Yeah, it's pretty embarrassing.
Or maybe you've bumped into a friend! In that case, buying flowers for Valentine's Day? Are you proud of this, or are you so embarrassed you must hide all evidence.
Alternatively, time has passed and you're now here because you have coupons for an additional price cut on your flowers if you are taking part in the Blind Date event. Blind dates can be particularly nerve-wracking, so let this store make things a little easier for you. You'll thank them for it.]
B: ANYONE WHO HATES CHOCOLATE IS A MONSTER (no we're kidding we still love you)
B.1: KITCHEN NIGHTMARES
[In all walks of life, chocolate is a very popular gift for Valentine's Day. And in some places, even more importance is placed on whether it's homemade or not. A section of the tea shop has been cleared just for this: earthy tables now have small stoves on them and ingredients set out. It's time to learn how to make chocolate. These classes are lead by head chef Shokudaikiri Mitsutada and his (reluctant) chef's assistant Ookurikara, but you can be sure that all the other reliable staff of Thistle Do Nicely are getting in on the action to help out (or learn themselves) too! Maybe Mitsutada and a handful of staff will make this great. The other half...
Everyone interested in these classes will gather round each of these tables, and together you will learn how to make chocolate. It's a team effort, so discuss with each other and work together to perfect it! In the end, you will be given cute little boxes or bags to put your chocolate in so you can give it to those intended. Or yourself, you can eat them too. Alternatively, you were forced into this mess, or have no idea why you're here but you're going to roll with it because it's chocolate.
The classes are free, happening a couple hours a day, but the ingredients require a small donation to keep the classes going. These classes are ongoing, so by the time you've gotten your Blind Date, you don't have to donate if you show them your coupon.]
B.2 CHOCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS
[Or maybe you're not here for the classes, you're spending time on the other half of the tea shop where it's still set for customers. The tea shop half of the entire store is not actually that big, so you might be finding it a bit cramped.
That being said, a treats bar has been set out as a complimentary offer. There's a chocolate fountain in the middle of this bar, and you know you wanna dip some heart shaped marshmallows or fruits in that sucker. There's also these flower shaped gummies. No one actually knows how they got there, but maybe for the sake of science, you want to coat it with chocolate and eat it.
Do it.]
C: WILDCARD.
[Because there's so much more to explore! Or maybe you're just here to visit and laugh at them. Or maybe you wanna use the tea space as a PLACE FOR A DATE, AYYYYYY in which the scene from Lady and the Tramp could happen and there will be a cute musical number (look, I'll have it arranged, I'm not even kidding. Too bad I can't get an Okiayu character to do it though, you might have to make do with a loser girl). Or maybe you've MESSED UP THIS ENTIRE PLACE Vietnam will kill you with her bare hands (unless she likes you, then you will live).]

OTA
[Richter will admit that he's not fond off sweets but other people, mostly children, do. He doesn't exactly have enough money to BUY a whole box of chocolates so upon hearing that he can make his own, as much as he wants, and someone will help or even teach him how to, well, it's a god send.
He follows the instructions pretty well, though he's still struggling with the shape. See that thing that looks like an octopus? But it has a snout.
...Probably not supposed to be an octopus.]
B.2 & C-ish[Valentines Day]
[Outside the shop maybe a little away from it, is a fairly large crowd of people, mostly families and couples, gathered around Richter who's singing with a guitar in hand. At his feet is an open guitar case but no sound of spare change being tossed into the case can be heard, instead if one would investigate, they'd find the case filled with flowers of a valentines day theme(lots of whites, pinks, and reds), and the chocolates he made the day before. There's also a sign that reads "Happy
Single AwarenessVALENTINES Day! Have a flower and a treat if you like my songs! - Trevor".After each song, he bows as the crowd claps and cheers, and tells a short story before starting the next song.]
b2/c
On the other hand, he's not interested in the flowers or chocolate (well he sort of is interested in the chocolate, since he has never had much sweets in his life but....hm.) and he's wondering if there's any other way that you're supposed to show your appreciation. ]
no subject
Now maybe a good time to approach him before he goes.]
no subject
But as the rest of the crowd disperse he comes up to him. ]
Ya're pretty good with that, ain't ya.
no subject
[He looks over his shoulder as he tucks his guitar into the case, putting it down then turning to face him when he finished.]
Ten years in the music industry will do that. [Totally not tooting his own horn.
He extends a hand to shake.]
Trevor Grant. You a fan of cheesy love songs?
no subject
[ He clasps the hand with one of his work and weather worn ones. ]
Roy Maxwell. I dunno, what d'ya consider cheesy?
[ Is there a modern music genre that's about love for cheese? ]
no subject
[He would venerate and glorify the genre that sings about the love of cheese.]
I suppose I'm more....focused than most folks.
[Not to mention talented.]
And you know the type. "I'd chase you to the ends of the earth", "You are my everything", "I knew I loved you before I met you", that kinda cheesy love songs. Not my usual thing but, it's Valentines. A little special service for the fans.
no subject
[ He loved music too, but when you were an outlaw on the run it wasn't that easy to perform everywhere.
”I'd chase you to the ends of the earth”...? That sounded like a very persistant lawman to his ears. ]
It mostly sounds odd t'me. That ain't exactly like the songs I'm used'a hearin' or playin'.
no subject
[He shows particular interest to this since it's a good chance for him to learn about music from different worlds.]
no subject
[ Country because it's sort of like what he's used to, and rock has a great feel in it. ]
But any good arrangement or lyrics'n stuff're great too.
B.1
She looks at the creature that Richter is creating, waiting to see what it's going to be once it's done.]
no subject
...I don't get it. I can picture it in my head to a "T", but it never turns out right.
[He holds up a piece that resembles a squished frog.]
How does this even look like a cat?????
no subject
I think...
[She pauses for a moment.]
...that if you were to look at it from here, [she reaches out to tilt his hand to the right] that it could look a bit like a cat.
[Kind of.]
no subject
....I think I'll just make chocolate balls.
[He knows what he made, or tried to, and even he wouldn't get one of these.]
You're free to have those. It doesn't look like much but I'm pretty sure it tastes just fine.
no subject
Veronica takes one of the little creatures, giving her head a light tilt as she looks at it. It's lopsided and strange, but there's a charm to it that she can see. That, and she's sure he spent a lot of time on it. Credit where credit is due, after all.
She smiles.]
Thank you very much. I will take care of them. [And share them with Kaoru, eventually.]
Is this one a dog? [She points to something that could be a dog. Or might be some kind of four-legged fish.]
no subject
....Yeah. Let's say it is.
[And now making a new batch of chocolates.]
Hmmm, maybe I should put something in the center of these....maybe sea salt caramel or something...
no subject
Alright. Let us say that it is.
[For now. She starts packing the creatures into a box very carefully so they won't get crushed as she watches what he's doing.]
Or perhaps some fruit?
no subject
[He starts looking around for any fruit he could dry.]
I was thinking, strawberries. See any around?
no subject
I have also seen candied fruit peels being used before as well. Although I suppose that will take more planning and work. [Work which she kind of wants to try now, having never candied fruit before.]
no subject
[He pauses for a moment, as he stares at some sliced oranges.]
Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try. Wanna give it a whirl?
no subject
[She assumes that he knows what he's doing since she has no idea whatsoever. But she does see him looking at the oranges...]
Are we using the oranges?
no subject
[It was her suggestion so he should let her make the stuff she might want.]
I'm Trevor by the way. You are?
no subject
Then, I will get some strawberries while you finish.
[She remembers those being used, although more as jam than as preserved fruit. She has faith in him being able to pull this off, though.]
