[After all the fussing he's done over everyone else, of course Kashuu's made sure to look his absolute best today! That'd be bad advertisement or something, overseeing makeovers in a top-end boutique only to show up looking slobbish to his own date... So he's dressed in classy-casual attire - reds and blacks - and has tied his hair back neatly with a red ribbon, taking even more care to be presentable than he usually does (which says a dang lot, because he already spends like a thousand hours in front of the mirror every day).

He's pretty easy to spot, at least; among all the gamers who are just here to kick some ass and win some prizes, he's standing near a claw machine off to the side of the entrance, practically bouncing in excitement. HE'S GETTING TO DO HUMAN THINGS. His first blind date!! His first date in general...! He's so determined to not screw this up, and eagerly scans the crowds for anyone wearing another orange badge.]

[For Atem, this date felt much more like an obligation, the kind that wakes you, unexpectedly, late in the morning with some business or another for which you never asked and which certainly sounds more like a chore than anything fun. He had tried to impress upon Mabel that there had been some mistake but it was too late, the match was made and backing out would only mean disappointing someone, a fact that didn't sit so well with him.

As such, he makes sure to show up, not particularly early but in that just in time fashion that gives the impression that his is not to be wasted. He's dressed no more or less formally than any other day but the gold that trims his clothes probably surpasses a finery that looks deliberate enough for such an occasion.

At least the location was right. It's his first time in this arcade but all it takes is a quick glance at the afternoon crowd and he can already tell they won't be lacking in things to do. He finds his other half for the day without much effort, and approaches amiably enough, though at a loss for what to say. Were they supposed to take this seriously, or was it just for fun?]

Kashuu, right?

[Of course it was right. It says so right on the badge.]

[Atem may be at a loss for what to say, but Kashuu is a motormouth and filled with so much social energy that he could probably shoulder every single Severe Lineface in Cerealia... Clearly this isn't going to be a difficult task for him at all! After all, Atem took the effort to show up and start off the conversation. That's already better than what some people here can manage...]

Mmmhm, that's me! And you're Atem, yeah? [A quick glance toward his badge just to double-check, and then, after a once-over:] —Wow! You're really pretty. [This is terrible, because he's not even flirting. This is just the way he is... Kashuu Kiyomitsu: connoisseur of Aesthetic™. He's diggin the gold in particular; the tsuba of the sword at his hip is also gold, and he's always found things cast in that metal to be warm and pleasant to look at.

—Right, that's a thing, too. He definitely has a sword with him. Maybe he talked security into letting him keep it?! (Maybe they just haven't caught him yet he's too sneaky.)]

With all the people I had to help, I was getting kinda worried, y'know? Like, no one here knows how to dress themselves or something. It's nice to see a change! [A self-satisfied nod.] A-ny-way, I brought you something.

[And from his bag he pulls... a little charm! One of the small cloth bags with a bell attached, signifying good fortune. It's a simple gift, not particularly romantic, but he isn't really here for romance despite his general enthusiasm. It's decorated like it was sold for Valentine's Day, though, all in soft pinks and whites.]

[P-pretty?? Atem isn't exactly unused to such compliments but those are usually simpering adulations that fall from the mouths of courtiers and anyone else looking to benefit from rubbing shoulders with the king. The culture of deceit that once surrounded him is far more comfortable and easy to navigate than what faces him now.

Kashuu, one the other hand, who seems to regard him in complete earnest, has no reason for such dishonesty. Flirting or not, Atem is still stumbling for a response. Perhaps he could return the favor? On second glance, he can admit that the other is rather attractive. There's a certain refinement to his charm and it's clear that he takes great care in putting himself together, which he can respect. But before the pharaoh can put that together in just as many words, he's already left in the rhetorical dust.]

Ah... Thank you. [He finally accepts the gift with a bit of a delayed response as it adds one more layer to the puzzle of this date. Was he supposed to bring something too? Mabel hadn't mentioned anything about that. Maybe he was just supposed to know about it. The whole thing already felt a bit like a crash course in social situations from which he had been completely deprived. With good reason but that didn't help him much now.]

You will have to forgive me. I am not familiar with these customs.

[On another day, this might be the point where he'd mention that he actually has no experience with any of this either, what with kind of being an inanimate object for hundreds of years and all... but he's trying to be impressive here! Admitting to the fact that he only knows what he knows because he binge-read dating magazines would ruin some of the charm he's trying to project.

So instead, he just gently steps around the topic. No one needs to know...]

You must be from another country or time, right? [He says that easily, at least. Being part of a time-traveling army has its perks when it comes to figuring out time shenanigans in jamjars... With how popular Valentine's day seems to be in the current time, it's an easy 2+2 to put together.]

You can tell me what you already know about this stuff and we can just start from there!

[A little of column a, a little of column b. He simply nods to both. Perhaps if there had been more time to prepare he could have... no, who is he kidding? If he were going to expend any energy at all, it would have been on figuring out how to get out of this.

Although, it could be far worse and Atem does his best to smile in earnest as he gives the proposal some serious consideration. Sixteen years old and he had never been on the ancient equivalent of a date, not that it was necessary when you were one of the most important people in the world. Still, even without the practical experience, it's not like he can't figure it out. To start, they're practically strangers and that's a dilemma that would have to be resolved before anything else could commence.]

Well, we're supposed to get to know each other. [He decides this rather emphatically.

What comes as an afterthought is the fact that this exchange goes both ways but a tentative glance around serves as a reminder that they lucked out with the perfect location to explore such a notion. By his standards anyway.]

[Being a social butterfly and all, that sort of thing just tends to happen naturally during the progression of a conversation (or several) with him. He never really goes out of his way to get to know someone; he basically just realizes one day that he's learned a lot.

At the question, he glances around the arcade, and then points vaguely inward and toward the left of the first floor.]

I've played a racing game before - it was over that way. Some fighting ones, too! [His little player character got their ass kicked by Sayo's and he hasn't been back since...] Buuut I don't really know a whole lot about video games or arcade stuff. This is only the second time I've been here.
