[This might take a while, she supposes. She'll look around some more, but predictably, since she's literally surrounded by food, she's... quickly distracted.]

Oh, wow!

[Catching sight of a crowded restaurant opening where a chef is showing off his abilities for a cheering public, Leia dashes towards the commotion with a grin stretching her face. It smells good, too...

What is he cooking?]

[Rio, being as socially savvy as she is, is clearly dressed for a date. A red halter top, a black pencil skirt, thigh-highs, and darker red flats -- bold but palatable. Her eyes keep glancing over name badges, looking for one similar, but finding no luck. Her brother's date went smashingly, as far as she can tell (she made him sputter in embarrassment not five minutes in, and that's all a sister could ask for), so she's got fairly high hopes for hers.

The clanging of metal utensils hitting an equally metal griddle and people laughing and cheering catches her ears, so she puts her search on hold to peer over Leia's shoulder at the spectacle, not being able to see her tag from this angle.]

It looks like a hibachi chef, doesn't it? Hmm... in that case, let's see something more interesting.

[She raises her hand and calls out, hoping to grab his attention.]

Pardon me, sir! If you haven't already done so, please show me how you crack the egg with the spatula, if you wouldn't mind? [Pause.] That move where you toss the egg around a bit and then crack it in mid-air? Surely you know of it?

[Her voice certainly succeeds in getting her attention at least. Leia turns in surprise (as do some others of the crowd), catching sight of her lovely blue hair, but immediately turns back to the chef to see his reaction. Because that sounds awesome.

The chef assures Rio that he's done it before, but that he'll happily oblige for such a pretty lady.

He cracks the egg with precision, tosses it a few more times to split the shell--and then its contents land neatly in the pan in front of him with a sizzle. Meanwhile the broken remains of the shell get caught and discarded in the trash can beside him.

He's well-practiced. She looks approvingly at Rio, turning with excitement.]

Hey, that was awesome!

[...it's about then that her eyes land on Rio's name tag. It looks familiar, and her eyes widen at the realization.]

Wait a sec. You're--

[Rio claps a few times, nodding to Leia, then pausing as she does. She has to follow her gaze to her chest, then connects the dots a short moment later, doing a double take when she checks the colors.]

Ah.

[Then she clasps her hands together in front of her face and gives her a friendly grin. She hadn't been expecting another girl, but it doesn't bother her any.]

How fortunate! I suppose it is safe to say, then-- [a quick wink to the chef,] that I am taken for today. Were you waiting long?

[Judging by the way Leia laughs at the gesture, she doesn't seem to be bothered either. She shakes her head.]

Not at all. I was just having a look around.

[Reading the three letters off her tag again, she nods her head in the direction of the store's entrance.]

You wanna grab some seats, Rio?

Certainly! I'd also like to try a few things while we're here, but I suppose a proper introduction is in order first.

[Before sitting down, she does a shallow bow, starting to move towards the nearest open table.]

Rio Kamishiro; pleased to meet you. And you are... [pause,] Leia, correct?

[Easily, she nods, flashing that nametag proudly. Since Rio gave her last name, it's only polite to do the same.]

That's right. Leia Rolando.

[She follows Rio to a table by the window that remained magically untouched.]

I work at the Game Center in the entertainment district, and I also write for the Cerealia Times.

Ah, that sounds interesting! You are a journalist?

[Taking a seat, she nods politely, steepling her hands in front of her.]

At the moment, I am both a student, and I work part-time at the cosplay cafe here. It is a bit of a jump for me, but I don't mind it so much.

[Leia takes the seat across from her, nodding proudly as they wait to be serviced. Not that it feels much like a wait at all. She seems rather excited to get to know her date.]

Keeping busy is important! And the cosplay cafe is a lot of fun...

Do you know Athena?

We've spoken, naturally, but I don't know her very well on a personal level. And while I had considered the job a bit of a... reach at first, I've found it isn't so bad in practice.

[Now, that leads to her next question. Rio leans forward, warming to the topic of conversation.]

As for yourself, are you fond of writing, or was it simply an aside you took up here?

[Leia nods. She simply asks because Athena is a good friend of hers; but she's content to flow with the conversation when Rio moves on.]

Oh, no, I love writing! It's sort of a recent thing for me, but I used to work for a super reputable newspaper back home, and my boss was really starting to warm up to my stuff. [She grins proudly, though she supposes it's a bit sad, too... to not have that anymore.]

The Cerealia Times is... different, but it's fun in its own way, too.

That's good! What do you normally write, then? Is it all journalism and nonfiction, or do you also write stories?

[The extent of Rio's writing capability is school essays and little else, so it's somewhat interesting to hear about someone who can take it to the next level like that.]

Perhaps I'll pick up a copy the next time I find the opportunity, then.

I mostly do the journalism thing! ...I've never tried to write my own stories before.

[It sounds like she's intrigued by the idea, though; and by her expression, she's clearly hopeful about gaining a possible new audience for her work.

She wonders if there's a place for fiction in their paper?]

I bet it'd be fun. I could use my friends as inspiration.
