He's never been here, of course. Moreover, he's never been anywhere like here. This is so Western . . . But he feels at ease at once, to his relief. The atmosphere's good and comfortable in a sort of alien way. (A literally alien way, but that's beside the point.) And the nice thing about having a reservation is that he doesn't have to feel awkward about trying to figure out where to sit or shouting for a "Trucy" in this crowd; the hostess just asks for his name and then leads him back into the forest of booths.
That twelve-year-old really deserved a gift basket or something for setting all this up.
Leon follows the waitress through the aisles, taking in all of the decor and sneaking peeks at people's food as they pass the (many) occupied tables. That's so much food! Man, this's gonna cost me . . . looks good, though. Who eats that much beef at once? Probably not girls, right? They're idle thoughts as he keeps his eye out for booths with lone girls sitting at them, assuming she'd gotten here first.
Hope she's cute . . .
He's not dressed up fancy or anything; it's just not him, and while he wants to impress his date, he's pretty sure he'd end up looking kinda stupid if he tried doing it by dressing up totally differently. But he is put together more carefully and less casually than usual. Hopefully that'll be enough for the mysterious Trucy.]

She's bothered to dress up, because she did after all sign herself up for this. A blue floral-patterned spaghetti-strap dress that went to just above her knees (because she did have a father who had said goodbye to her that evening). Her hair, usually twisted back under her hat, is simply down and neatly brushed for once. Though it would be wrong to assume she didn't have props hidden on her person, she for once doesn't look like a magician.
She'd pinned the badge to her chest upon arrival, and is simply people-watching to pass the time, a smile firmly in place. ]

SHE'SSSSSSSS SO CUTE!
Leon doesn't need to try and smile at her when he takes his seat; he'd probably have to try not to. And he's not sure he could manage it if he did. Score! This girl's freaking adorable! He hadn't known what to expect, with nothing but a name to go on, and a foreign name he's never heard anyone have before at that. Of course, that's the point of a blind date, but this is Leon's first of those--plenty of dates, never a blind one. It's a new experience. Geez, he got lucky!
He sits down across from Trucy and beams across the table at her as the hostess heads back to the front, with a promise that their waitress will be with them soon. (She'd been cute too, and maybe if Leon hadn't lucked out . . . but nevermind that now!)]
Ah, heeeey! You're Trucy! You look totally amazing! I didn't keep you long, right? Sorry 'bout that!

First dates were supposed to be fun, weren't they? Granted, she hadn't really had anyone to ask about that, since she was pretty sure everyone would make a big deal about it, and the ones who might be more low-key hadn't ever dated to her knowledge...
Her world was full of eccentrics. She adored it, but it made it hard to get actual advice on actual teenage girl things, sometimes. ]
You look nice, too! Leon...what's your full name? I'm Trucy Wright!
no subject
[First name first, huh . . . he's starting to get used to that here. In his opinion, his name sounds pretty cool that way, anyway.
Leon gets comfortable, folding his arms on the table and taking a quick look around the restaurant again before making eye contact. It's a nice place that he probably never would have thought to take a date to himself, so if it's her thing, he'll have to keep that in mind . . . and if it's not, it's not his fault, so that's a weight off his chest. But so far, he's highly approving of everything Mabel set up for him. Damn, what a cute face!]
Heh, this's my first blind date! How about you? You look pretty chill with it.
[Of course, so does he, despite that.]
That's the way to be! You just have fun and go with the flow, right?
no subject
She's a loving daughter, really. ]
This is my first date ever, actually! [ Which doesn't seem to bug her in the least. She's seventeen now, as of a few days ago ICly, but she's never really had the time for romance. There's been way too much stage magicianing and helping to solve murders and schoolwork and being CEO (until Daddy took over again, of course) to bother with boys. But in Cerealia she...
Well, she still does her magic and schoolwork, but she's not a CEO and she isn't playing murder-solving assistant, so her schedule is just a little freer. ]
I agree, though!! It's always best to try to have fun and go with things as they happen! Otherwise you'll stress yourself out waaaaaay too much. Polly never really got that...oh, he's one of my employees back home.
no subject
[He'd been about to protest the "first date" thing. That's crazy! How could a girl this cute never go on a date? But then there's the answer, and it's a hundred times more surprising than never having dated before. Isn't this girl around his age? (A little younger, right; he has to remind himself of that, still. But whatever, close enough.) How could she have employees?
Leon grabs the menu to look at, but he's too busy with this first to think yet about the food.]
What kinda job d'you have where you hire people?
no subject
[ The Talent branch consists 100% of Trucy Wright at the moment, but she never mentions that part because it sounds so much less impressive than just pointing out she's the head of the talent branch, okay... ]
Polly was with our Legal branch, but I took time out of my work to help him out a bit as necessary! Anyway, almost everyone from home who's here is from the Legal branch...
no subject
Well, she'd implied she wasn't, sure, but still! This is starting to get weird!]
--Wait, you know a girl named Athena?
[Maybe it's at least the same agency. That'd be a little less coincidental . . . or would it be more coincidental? It might at least explain the age thing. Teenage girls in that world sure do get a lot of really important-sounding jobs, like lawyer and CEO.]
no subject
Athena Cykes? Yeah, of course! She's one of the Agency's employees, too! Legal branch. Though I bet she'd do well in the Talent branch, too! She'd make a great lovely assistant to the magician...
[ Especially because practically all lawyers are really good at voice projection. Which is key in assistant-ing, so far as Trucy is concerned. ]
So you're one of Athena's friends?
no subject
[Close enough. They've met a couple times, and he has a date with her in three days, which is probably not a thing you mention on a date. Still, friends seems--well, Leon would like that, but they're still pretty new to one another, and he's not sure how Athena feels about it.
He laughs, dragging his water over with one hand for when he wants it. Which is soon, but not while talking.]
I met her when she threw an alien at me? Ha ha! So yeah, I know her. I knew she was a lawyer, and she said there were a bunch o' others here too. Ah, you know Larry? I know him too! We went out to lunch!
[That one was so not a date.]
Wait a sec, what magician? You're a magic law firm?
no subject
Uncle Larry? Yeah, I've known him since I was little! Although he's from before he ever met me, so he only knows me from here. [ He's not her actual uncle, but as good as... ]
As to the magic...I'm definitely a magician! But we're not a magic law firm. Like I said, I'm the head of the Talent branch - you know, like entertainment? I'm actually really popular back home, and my show is doing well here, too! But it's pretty much completely separate from the Legal Branch, even if I do help them out sometimes!
[ Mostly because she enjoys spending time with Apollo and her dad. Trucy shrugs a little, hooking some hair behind her ear as she considers it. ]
Althooooooough when I say "Anything", I mean it! We take on all sorts of jobs, really. I contract a lot of them still even though Daddy took over as CEO, and, well, a lot of people do just come to us on their own. Or they did at home, anyway. We have the best defense lawyers around!
no subject
She's not getting less cute, either; he's briefly distracted by the playing with her hair, taking a sip of his water and nodding. He ought to be looking at the menu, but whatever! The point of a date's not the food, unless it's a bad date!]
Sooo you're lawyers but you've got talent too? Is that how it works in America? That's kinda cool. Like, you think of law stuff as real stuffy and boring, right? Just a bunch of older dudes in suits and ties arguin' all day? I was real surprised when I met Athena, and now you're like, tellin' me you put on shows too! That's totally a game-changer!
no subject
[ Sometimes in conjunction with a cute fortune-teller named Pearl. Trucy occasionally adds "special effects" to Pearl's love-fortunes, which means a lot of smoke and glitter and images in the crystal ball... ]
And law definitely isn't stuffy or boring! Geeze, I dunno where you got that impression? The courtroom is always a battleground...sometimes actually literally. Prosecutor Blackquill seems to think so, anyway...he's been known to set his bird on people as a distraction.
[ the aa legal world makes no damn sense ]
no subject
[He is so here for this. Why hasn't he ever gone to see a lawyer movie before, damn! He always assumed they'd be about, like, the law and stuff! Leon leans across the table excitedly:]
You ever, like, help out by usin' magic as a distraction? You could pull a bird out of a hat or somethin'! Or maybe an explosion . . . ahhh, that'd be aaawesome! I'd one thousand percent go see that movie!
[He's kind of forgotten there are actual legal battles involved at this point.
He's leaning on the drink menu, though, and glances down at it when it shifts under his arms. Hmmmm.]
Hey, so, if you know about legal stuff, d'you know what the drinking age is here?
