The threatened person was my friend Athena Cykes. She approached me and told me someone threatened her life if I didn't stop writing "defaming articles," which I never wrote in the first place. Also I had to apologize for being mad at Archer and venting at him a bit privately over the network. She told me I couldn't write about it in the paper or tell the police. But you're a detective, so that should be fine.

Whoever threatened her to affect me must be someone who really cares about what people think about Archer, but she says it wasn't Archer himself, and in fact he didn't know about that. It also must have been a hacker or cracker because they knew about this private talk I had with Archer, and only Archer and me should have known.

I had suspicions about Aura Blackquill, since she's a known hacker and she seems to have some connection to Athena, but they're both very tight-lipped on the subject. I suspect she's not involved with Archer, though.

The anonymous hacker who posted everyone's files also denied responsibility.

Whatever you're planning on doing, don't just ask Athena about it or give her the idea I'm investigating it. I've already tried asking her, and that wasn't enough. So... don't do anything that would threaten my friendship with her, okay?

So, that's pretty much it, any questions?

[Shiho narrows her eyes. So they threatened Athena, huh.]

I won't need to ask her about it, so don't worry. The names are enough for me to start, so you can just sit back and wait for the good news.

[The waiter chooses to come by at this moment with Shiho's tea and cake, and Myriam's glass of water (with a slice of lemon).]

[Athena's a friend, and Shiho's sure Kaoru would be off to destroy anyone who would threaten someone she considered a friend.]

[The waiter stops, stares for a moment before smiling and taking the water to bring her a new glass without lemon.]

[The cake is flavoured with the feeling of artificially created milk, chocolate, eggs and butter, with the simmering stress of the chef who had baked it just this morning, as well as the cool efficiency of their waiter as he walked back and forth to bring them their food.

Shiho takes another forkful and chews thoughtfully.]

Hm. It's not bad.

[Could do with more suffering and drama. But it wasn't poisoned or anything which was always a plus.]

[Shiho pouts briefly before shrugging. She wasn't too invested in Myriam eating this in the first place but it was worth a try.]
