[Not too long ago, a monstrous tsunami toppled the colony of Cerealia and left the city in ruins. Today…. the city is still in ruins. Watch your step! Hopefully you weren’t headed anywhere important today because--]

You there! Where do you think you’re going?!

[-- you’re about to be dragged into something much bigger than getting a sandwich or your CyBuddy’s hair appointment.

You’ve been spotted by Natalia and you are about to get an earful.]

Once Natalia gives the spiel to whatever poor bystander was walking about, they’re given a hardhat along with their instructions. Then they’re set off to work and they have quite the range of places that they can see to attend to.

I » THE RUBBLE The Residential District took the hardest toll after the tsunami. Where a block of apartments once stood, there’s now only rubble and ruin – as well as fallen pieces of the platform that had just added salt to the wound. Those in this area will be given face masks as well, to accommodate for the dust, and are tasked with moving the rubble over to a sectioned off area that will be considered a new scrapyard. Take a look at the fallen tech if you’d like, just be careful not to exhaust yourselves too much!

II » THE SCHOOL Plenty of the water has receded from the school area, but it would appear that the remains of flooding are still in effect. Try not to turn the halls into a slip and slide just yet! Even though the whiteboards beg to be written on, you’re obviously here to do work…. right? Well, there’s probably something about visiting a school that can make people itch to feel young again anyway.

III » THE APARTMENTS What apartments remained have a high chance of dealing with water damage, especially those on the bottom flowers. They’re just begging to be revamped. Maybe you even find an empty one that you like and decide to claim it for yourself! Aside from that, Natalia’s left paints upon paints for a mural on the outside of the building if you feel like doing some benevolent vandalism. Please don’t draw any genitalia.

IV » THE SKYBRIDGES High above the city, others are still put to work. The standing building in the residential district (and those that are eventually rebuilt) need a more convenient way of movement, Natalia’s decided. So here’s where people are building sky bridges to connect the apartments – but for the love of god, watch your step up there or else we’ll be dealing with cleaning you up off the cement too.

V » THE GYM The once magnificent place for GAINS and and PROTEIN and BROSEPHS honing one’s strength and maintaining the temple of one’s body unfortunately caved in during the disaster. Entirely. The place is another pile of rubble and rock, but if nothing else, exercise equipment has been ordered and people who hopefully know their way around a gym have been placed in charge of restoring the gym to its former glory. It’s like its own workout just to fix it!

VI » THE SANCTUARY Hidden away in the Residential District, there’s a new, nondescript building. Upon even stepping into the premises, you’re asked to leave your CereVice at the door. However once you’re determined unbugged by CERES, there’s much hustle and bustle in here. Wire work is being done to maintain generators, tests are being run, and then there are some people making sure that the curtains match the color scheme of the couches. At least there’s apparently a buffet provided inside for all volunteers! Chill during your break time. You’ve earned it.

[Even if she's mildly embarrassed she's standing by everything she said and that's enough for him. People who're confident in their goals and their dreams are people he resonates with and even though he never thought she'd give up, it sort of pumps him up a little, too. It's contagious. Magnetic. It's...kinda like covalent bonding. The shared interest in helping people and becoming a hero are the figurative electrons. Having those electrons shared between the two of them allows for both the positive and negative aspects of themselves to balance out...of course that analogy sort of falls through because so far Ruby doesn't really have negative aspects unless you count being overenthused, but that's not exactly a bad thing.

Like I'd let you give up anyway. [He rolls his eyes in a good-natured manner.] Even if it takes you eighty-four tries to catch your next bad guy...I know you're going to keep trying. [He blinks suddenly, not entirely sure what to make of that. The answer's obvious. People have to stick together here...and they work well as a team. He's good with strategy and she's good with physical combat. It's a lot like how he and Baymax function if he thinks about it, and without realizing it he's grinning to himself.]

Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. We could probably both use the training anyway, huh? Plus it'll be kinda fun and Baymax doesn't mind. [He assumes. Probably. Sorry bud, you get no choice.]

[... It's nice to hear. That he knows that she's not going to give up, and that he knows that in the end, she'll always catch her baddie. The fact that he believes in her enough to make it sound that certain...

Well. It's nice. "Nice", yeah, that's a good word for it, she thinks (words, when describing people, are not exactly easy).]

Good! [Baymax doesn't mind, Hiro doesn't mind--it's perfect. She reaches over to pat Baymax's arm before offering Hiro a fistbump, because naturally that's what you do when you're making hero partnership pacts...?? It seems right, roll with it.]

Then...let's be hero partners! [Weiss is Ruby's partner-partner, naturally, but there's nothing wrong with Hiro being her hero-partner, right?] And... Baymax can come too, of course! [His title is now: third wheel.]

[Everything is nice and friendshippy. That's pretty much all that matters and for a moment he looks at Ruby's hand…and there's a very large grin. Girls don't fistbump usually. Don't mind him leaning over to solidly connect his fist with hers.]

Hero partners it is. [Do you see this, Ruby? Do you see this stupid gap-tooth grin because he's suddenly kind of pleased with how this turned out. At his name, Baymax also chimes in.]

We will make a great team. [He also holds up a fist. Ruby. The robot wants a fistbump, too. At least everybody's on the same page, and while Baymax is left hanging waiting, Hiro leans back and eyes the rest of his lunch instead.]

But…maybe we can start tomorrow. Sound good?

[!!! Fistbumps with Baymax, this is getting better and better. First a fistbump with Hiro, now a fistbump with Baymax. She definitely won't leave him hanging, instead reaching out to rap her fists against his soft, plushy, marshmallow-y fist.

She can't quite help the way she whispers under her breath--]

Yeaaaaaahhhh!!

[It's a good day, okay.

Either way, right, they've both done more than enough work today, and Ruby can feel the exhaustion herself; it must be even worse for Hiro after all of that talk.]

Tomorrow is good. Tomorrow's definitely really good, I think today we should definitely rest. [A nod, confirming.] Rest is definitely something that I think we both need a lot of right now.

[And while Ruby whispers to herself, Baymax pushes his fist against hers and reacts just the way Hiro taught him.] Ba-la-la-la-la-la-la.

[Someday Hiro will teach him that that part isn't necessary. Today isn't that day. They've done plenty to help with the rebuilding and judging by the fact that his eyes are half-closed it's clear he agrees with the resting sentiment. He watches her for a moment, still not entirely sure how they got from point A to point B but glad for it nevertheless. And really, there's only one thing left to say.]
