It’s been a few days in the jungle now and hopefully you haven’t managed to die just yet – after all, the fun’s just begun.
On the seventh day of trekking the wilderness, each character who has Air in their heart will suddenly find themselves pausing in the middle of the day. Suddenly they’re able to feel the patterns of the wind in the air. A chill passes through them as a breeze will kick up.
Then without warning, they’re lifted right off the ground and cast up into the sky. At least they don’t have time to be scared as they suddenly lose consciousness after floating for a few seconds.
Don’t worry. It’ll get better. When they wake up, they hear the following message in a wispy way, carried along by the breeze itself –
 It is not the correct time to be sleeping. You must awaken.
There is something that needs to be done.
You need to be the one to do it.

PHASE I [ day one ] Anyone here with a fear of heights? Yes? Well, that’s too bad. When air characters awaken, they’ll find themselves cast right into the mountains of Tellus. It’s rocky, the path is minimal at best and non-existent at worse, and there are screeches of something dangerous and angry calling in the distance.
Caeli demonstrates his poor sense of direction once again as characters wake up and find themselves on a mountainous ledge. There is no apparent path -– except for across a dangerous ravine that dips down to the base of the mountain. There is no end in sight when one looks down, instead only pure black depths.
The cloud waits on the other side, floating patiently. Caeli gives one instruction: “Jump.”
But try not to fall in, that would be a sad start to the trip. Thankfully, the distance across isn't really too far, and Caeli might give those who can't quite make the jump a little boost -- but you still have to be brave enough to make the jump or be left behind.
PHASE II [ day one ] Well, one way or another, you seemed to have made it. From there, it’s just one long hike where you’re stuck following a cloud that simply doesn’t feel like responding to your calls for attention. The hours drag on and the sun sets across the horizon as you are left climbing this mountain, no end in sight.
But as you climb higher and higher, the temperature drops. The hour grows later and slowly but surely, white flecks begin to fall from the sky. Cold? Hopefully you were dressed appropriately seeing as now the thick layers of snow are building and building and building – making it harder to climb as the movement now requires trudging through three to four feet of snow.
Did you want to take a break? Have fun catching hypothermia if you do!
There's definitely not much in the way of shelter, but you can try to make something out of the scant trees remaining, or create a fire. Either way, you definitely don't want to be left behind, so don't lose sight of everyone else.
PHASE III [ day two ] Whether you felt like standing guard or were fast asleep, a piercing screech will act in the place of an alarm clock.
All too soon, a flight of winged creatures will descend upon the mountain travelers, looking none too friendly. Caeli descends to offer helpfully, “Griffins. They were once mine.” To which, the beasts merely emit another piercing screech before baring their claws and moving to attack the party. They are fearsome creatures and will not fall until they are killed, consistently trying to get back on their feet even when injured.
If no one manages to lose an eye and the griffins are subdued, characters will find upon their fallen bodies that they have areas where tufts of fur are missing, leaving a clean injection spot. There are small machine implants at the back of their necks, beeping ominously. Each is branded with a different number identification. Caeli is nowhere to be found.
PHASE IV [ day three ] The summit of the mountain is typically considered the most beautiful place. For those who are seeking solace, the peak of this adventure is safely above the clouds and the sun is slowly rising in the distance. Acting as a moment of peace, it is truly beautiful.
For those who do not rest so easy, there is more to be found near the top of the mountain. One run-down shack can be found, plated with steel and amenities found inside such as blankets and coats to fight off the snow.
More worryingly, there is an operating table in the middle of the room. A white cloth drapes over it, stained with red and operating instruments resting on the edges, the gleaming metal darkened with old blood. The same tufts of feathers and fur that could be found on the griffons are scattered on the floor, claw marks digging deep into the metal of the walls.
Be careful not to touch anything. If a character comes into contact with some of the blood that stains the table or the instruments, they will immediately begin to feel hints of aggression. There will be an intense need to pick fights with those around them and the feeling will not disappear until they are knocked out (or killed, but who would want that?).

Thankfully, there is one such person right there and ready (or, well, sort of. She's still in training, but hey, close enough, right? Who's counting in situations like these--), and as that griffin turns to face them, there's the stark, distinct noise of a scythe cutting through cold, thin air.
Ruby uses the momentum of her fall to slice right through one of those wings (brutally, really), and lands neatly in the snow with a thump. The griffin hits the ground behind her with a shriek.
And then she blinks at them and straightens and smiles.]
Oh, hi, Hiro! Aaaand...Hiro's friend! [..... her scythe is totally dripping blood, she's just going to shift that...a little off to the side...] ...Sup?

She's a little overwhelmed and kind of scooting closer to Hiro, because that sure is blood. ]

[ WORDS. ]

10/10, Miss Rose. Color him sort of impressed. He watches the griffin for a moment and winces at the shrieking sound.]
Nice timing. [Blood what blood who's bothered by blood? (Okay, maybe he is a little but there are other things to focus on here.)] You're really good at sneaking up on people, aren't you? [He frowns at the griffin slightly as it continues to screech and try to rise from the snow. Ruby may or may not recognize Tadashi's glove on his hand (because who knows who he's shown them to) and he gestures for Mary to stay behind him as he moves closer to fire another electric shock to put the griffin out of its misery.
So much for being designed not to kill anything. He can have a crisis about that later. From his place near the bird he looks between the two girls, using his gauntlet-covered hand to gesture between them even as he walks back to Mary to make sure she's not too shocked by everything.] Ruby, Mary. Mary, this is Ruby. She's a monster hunter.
[Apparently that's important to share.] Everybody okay? I think the other one took off after I shot it. [But he's definitely keeping his eyes peeled just in case.]

[The look on Mary's face is kind of concerning, really! Ruby doesn't entirely know what to do about it beyond...awkwardly waving as Hiro introduces them. Have an awkward, little wave.]

As for the griffin and Hiro, she just shrugs, finally reaching up to start cleaning Crescent Rose with a cloth. It's gross, but Crescent Rose is more important, so she will deal with the blood.]
It took me that long to get over here. This mountain is huuuuge! [She honestly had no idea it was Hiro, she just went after the griffin that was menacing people.] Are you okay?

Instead though, he's taking that gauntlet back and taking off Tadashi's glove to tuck into his gadget belt of his armor. With the gauntlet on he's…actually sort of ignoring Ruby's question, waving a hand again in a gesture of "yeah, I'm fine" as suddenly picks up on a sound now that the screeching's died down.
Beeping. It's some kind of mechanical beeping and he moves closer to the griffin, crouching next to its body to take a closer look.]
Think we're safe for now…but I think I'd be pretty mad too if I were them. [A hand comes down to move some fur out of the way to try and figure out how the chip's embedded.] Take a look at this.

[She peers at it, but as much as she likes robotics and building, she's not so familiar with the fine-tuned, tinier technology.]

[ She shades her eyes with one hand, glancing up at the sky. ] Maybe all the other ones have those too?

The answer's obvious the longer he looks at it, but it definitely makes him uncomfortable to think about.]
See the numbers? [He's not exactly touching it yet, but he's pointing to show the clearly ID.] I think...they're tracking devices of some kind, maybe. Back home we have these things called GPS devices which are basically devices that you can use to track people and pinpoint their position anywhere in the world. [Little does he know that Tadashi has been sewing tracking devices into his sweaters for who knows how long.] If they all have chips and they all have numbers they have to coordinate to a matching set. Whoever installed these has to be following them for some reason...but I don't know why. And think about what Caeli said. "They were once mine."
[...oh.] ...if CERES was able to capture the Bridge and lock up some of the other spirits in Tellus, what's stopping them from capturing and tracking monsters? [...screw the snow. He's plopping to sit down and rest his chin in his hands, ignoring the small shivers from the cold. Focus. Focusing on this problem helps him ignore everything else.] Do either of you know anything about how griffins usually behave? Or...monsters in general, I guess.

[Just...everything about this is very, very bad. She steps closer to inspect the ID, but as he asks his second question, she shrugs.]
Just Grimm, but Grimm all act differently too depending on what kind of...Grimm... I mean, they all want to hunt and eat people, but some of them are smarter than others.
This sort of thing, where they all just attacked us out of the blue... I don't think it's very normal.

Capturing monsters... strikes a little too close to home, and she's paler than usual (which could again be mistaken for being cold, since she is) when she looks down at the griffin again. The faint sadness, though? That's new. ]
Maybe they just wanted to be left alone... I don't know if they're the kind of monsters who would attack people, but maybe if they were, there wouldn't be a need to put anything inside them.

We should find Caeli and ask what happened that made him lose the griffins. If they were once his he's gotta know what actually happened to them. Right now? It kinda looks like somebody wanted to really make sure people stayed off this mountain.

[She rubs her hands together (brrrr it's cold), before looking back at Mary.]
Do you want to come with us? I mean, it'll probably still be pretty dangerous, because I think the best way we can go is...well, up! [She'll just point......up and up and up towards the summit of the mountain.]

[ She's already feeling sorry for the griffins, if this is out of their control. But if they attack, there's nothing she can do-- it's better to stay with the people who know what they're doing. ] And maybe Caeli knows how to help them... if there's a way.

If all three of us go and look for Caeli maybe he'll actually show up and talk to us instead of trying by ourselves. And anyway he's a cloud. He probably floated to the top already and now he's sitting up there laughing at us.

[She'll protect Mary (and Hiro) with her life. Not that it'll probably come to that but she's determined anyway. She inspects the chip for a moment, thoughtful, before she nods.]
I guess we could always come back for it if we can remember where this particular patch of mountain is amongst all of the other patches of mountain.

But I could see that! I think going to the top is our best bet, so... let's get hiking, guys!
