It’s been a few days in the jungle now and hopefully you haven’t managed to die just yet – after all, the fun’s just begun.

On the seventh day of trekking the wilderness, each character who has Air in their heart will suddenly find themselves pausing in the middle of the day. Suddenly they’re able to feel the patterns of the wind in the air. A chill passes through them as a breeze will kick up.

Then without warning, they’re lifted right off the ground and cast up into the sky. At least they don’t have time to be scared as they suddenly lose consciousness after floating for a few seconds.

Don’t worry. It’ll get better. When they wake up, they hear the following message in a wispy way, carried along by the breeze itself –

It is not the correct time to be sleeping. You must awaken.

There is something that needs to be done.

You need to be the one to do it.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ day one ] Anyone here with a fear of heights? Yes? Well, that’s too bad. When air characters awaken, they’ll find themselves cast right into the mountains of Tellus. It’s rocky, the path is minimal at best and non-existent at worse, and there are screeches of something dangerous and angry calling in the distance.

Caeli demonstrates his poor sense of direction once again as characters wake up and find themselves on a mountainous ledge. There is no apparent path -– except for across a dangerous ravine that dips down to the base of the mountain. There is no end in sight when one looks down, instead only pure black depths.

The cloud waits on the other side, floating patiently. Caeli gives one instruction: “Jump.”

But try not to fall in, that would be a sad start to the trip. Thankfully, the distance across isn't really too far, and Caeli might give those who can't quite make the jump a little boost -- but you still have to be brave enough to make the jump or be left behind.

PHASE II

[ day one ] Well, one way or another, you seemed to have made it. From there, it’s just one long hike where you’re stuck following a cloud that simply doesn’t feel like responding to your calls for attention. The hours drag on and the sun sets across the horizon as you are left climbing this mountain, no end in sight.

But as you climb higher and higher, the temperature drops. The hour grows later and slowly but surely, white flecks begin to fall from the sky. Cold? Hopefully you were dressed appropriately seeing as now the thick layers of snow are building and building and building – making it harder to climb as the movement now requires trudging through three to four feet of snow.

Did you want to take a break? Have fun catching hypothermia if you do!

There's definitely not much in the way of shelter, but you can try to make something out of the scant trees remaining, or create a fire. Either way, you definitely don't want to be left behind, so don't lose sight of everyone else.

PHASE III

[ day two ] Whether you felt like standing guard or were fast asleep, a piercing screech will act in the place of an alarm clock.

All too soon, a flight of winged creatures will descend upon the mountain travelers, looking none too friendly. Caeli descends to offer helpfully, “Griffins. They were once mine.” To which, the beasts merely emit another piercing screech before baring their claws and moving to attack the party. They are fearsome creatures and will not fall until they are killed, consistently trying to get back on their feet even when injured.

If no one manages to lose an eye and the griffins are subdued, characters will find upon their fallen bodies that they have areas where tufts of fur are missing, leaving a clean injection spot. There are small machine implants at the back of their necks, beeping ominously. Each is branded with a different number identification. Caeli is nowhere to be found.

PHASE IV

[ day three ] The summit of the mountain is typically considered the most beautiful place. For those who are seeking solace, the peak of this adventure is safely above the clouds and the sun is slowly rising in the distance. Acting as a moment of peace, it is truly beautiful.

For those who do not rest so easy, there is more to be found near the top of the mountain. One run-down shack can be found, plated with steel and amenities found inside such as blankets and coats to fight off the snow.

More worryingly, there is an operating table in the middle of the room. A white cloth drapes over it, stained with red and operating instruments resting on the edges, the gleaming metal darkened with old blood. The same tufts of feathers and fur that could be found on the griffons are scattered on the floor, claw marks digging deep into the metal of the walls.

Be careful not to touch anything. If a character comes into contact with some of the blood that stains the table or the instruments, they will immediately begin to feel hints of aggression. There will be an intense need to pick fights with those around them and the feeling will not disappear until they are knocked out (or killed, but who would want that?).

Welcome to your new home.

[Inquiring minds sure do want to know. But he doesn't respond even if he looks a tiny bit displeased by Yuri's obvious amusement. His eyes widen at the way the sword flips and even moreso at how Yuri catches it without any sort of effort. Okay, so the guy's also sort of a showoff. That's fine, too, but he notices the dog moving immediately and it's about then Hiro Hamada realizes he may have made a tiny mistake asking for this.

The arte's performed then and...no. No, this wasn't a mistake because it's actually very cool despite its simplicity. It's another kind of magic he's never seen before and he briefly starts for a moment toward Repede when he's knocked back. But the dog settles again and Yuri rests the sword on his shoulder, leaving Hiro to just...kinda gawk at him.]

...way, way cooler than being an artist. [What the hell.] Can anybody learn how to use artes, or are you just that special?

[repede's fine, and he'll make his way back to yuri's side after a moment—it's like they're old pros. though maybe it's not worth it to worry about a dog who carries a dagger and a pipe, huh? oh well.]

If you have the right stuff, sure. [he motions towards his left wrist with his free hand, pointing out the somewhat flashy looking gold bracelet.]

It's called a bodhi blastia. I haven't seen anyone else use them aside from people from my world, but it's what enables us to use artes. [he shrugs, though.] Some other words have similar artes but I don't think they work the same.

[hell, he's honestly not even sure how his works without all of the normal world mechanics that enable it. is there even aer on this planet? yuri has no idea, he's no scientist.]
zerotohiro: (Do you trust me?)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2015-11-17 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[He recognizes partners in sync. He and Baymax are similar and okay, maybe Repede is a weird dog but he's still a dog and Hiro's still a teenager. He has concerns about fluffy four-legged creatures okay? Still, that's no longer his point of focus once the blastia comes into play and he shuffles closer to get a better look. His eyes go wide as he leans in to examine the finer details without getting too close to Yuri's personal space.]

Definitely never heard of a blastia before. [Sounds fake, but obviously it's something Yuri utilizes well.] So then it's just a conductor for the magic or whatever artes use. [...and then there's a thought. And a veeeery slow grin.] Which means that if a person made a blastia or something they could start working with artes, too, right? Based on that I mean.

If you had a core, then sure.

[he motions towards the red, diamond shaped gem in the center of the bracelet.] Blastia cores are pretty tough to come by where I'm from. Haven't seen anything like it since I've gotten here at all, actually.

[which makes sense, considering the fact that they come from such a very specific and rare resource. yuri's not the person with the most understanding of how it all works from a scientific perspective, but he knows enough.] But without it, all you've got is a dead blastia. Pretty, but useless.
zerotohiro: (That's disturbing)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2015-11-19 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't there some kind of alternative power source? Even we have back-up generators and stuff back home so we're not relying on one single core. [He sort of wants to touch the gem. Don't touch the gem, Hiro, that's rude.] I guess you could use it as a bludgeoning weapon or something but you're right. Pretty useless.

[That's...close enough to what he said, right?] And how'd you get so lucky to get a core?
fatalstriker: (pic#8055998)

[personal profile] fatalstriker 2015-11-19 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't found one yet. I can't say I'd be good at explaining the finer details, but the stuff that makes up blastia cores is kind of a big problem. But until we find something else, our hands our tied, since most of the world runs on using 'em.

[illumination, travel, fighting, barriers to keep monsters out of the city—there's just not an easy fix for it. it's a huge, huge problem that plagues the world, but yuri's not much of a scientist, mage... or even just good at explaining things at all.

yuri sighs; trying to explain the finer points of blastia cores and what they're made of is just not something he wants to deal with.]

I got my bodhi blastia back when I joined the knights. It's pretty standard issue, for situations like that, but they don't just go handing 'em out to anyone who wants one.
zerotohiro: (I'm so sorry)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2015-11-23 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[That raises even more questions, but even Hiro knows better than to press when they're all already stressed out thanks to Caeli kidnapping them. The sigh clues him in as a cue to change the subject (though he's keeping all of it in mind for later.)]

And...you just kept it all this time? [Because Yuri doesn't seem like an artist, but Yuri also doesn't seem like a knight. Aren't knights supposed to be regal and good and stuff? But he doesn't think it's a good idea to tell Yuri he's not a knight in case he really is somehow.] Way to use it to your advantage. Let's just hope CERES doesn't decide to do something with it to cause it to glitch out.

[They've rounded a small portion of the cliffside now and haven't found anything useful, and Hiro's frowning in thought.] This mountain's totally deserted. I can't believe he actually brought us here.
fatalstriker: (pic#8055995)

[personal profile] fatalstriker 2015-11-23 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Once you have it, it's yours. That's the way it works. Believe me, if they wanted to take it back, they'd find a way to. [they as in the knights, but ceres probably isn't all that different in this case.] Let's not jinx what CERES will or won't do with it.

[he kind of needs his blastia to keep working, so he'd rather not delve into the dangerous territory of somehow giving them ideas.

but whatever. maybe that's not as important as dealing with what's in front of them... or more specifically, the lack of anything in front of them.]
I can. Cloudman's not exactly helpful about anything. And after that little jungle adventure, I can't say I'm expecting too much of this but trying to avoid frostbitten toes.
zerotohiro: (Spider-monkey)

[personal profile] zerotohiro 2015-11-25 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Good call. [Jinxing themselves is probably not the best way to go. But he's less than pleased with what Caeli's done to them and in the end he settles on nodding. What else can they do? It's not like they're going to find anything super useful up on an abandoned mountain.

Oh, wait. But Hiro doesn't know that yet so instead he's scoping out their territory.]

Let's find a point and jump off then. Once we're on the other side we can figure out if it's better to climb up or down. [Go with it, Yuri. Hiro's already moving whether he follows or not. It's off for more mountain-y adventures.]
