![]() You were always warned about the little things that go bump in the night, but you didn't believe them, did you? After all, ghosts don't exist, and things aren't really out to get you in the dark. As the month draws nearer to its final days, however, you're going to want to double check that belief of yours. On the eve of the 20th, continuing on, you'll feel the signs. It'll begin with a flicker, something barely noticeable. Conveniently, that day, the cinemas will start showing some creepy movies (maybe you'll have seen similar ones back home, or have you?) and you can access Ceres' TV stations- amazing show and movie line-up on their devices or TV screen. All seems to be normal, really... except for the weather that seems somewhat chilly and dismal throughout, with chances of storms every now and then. 'tis the season to be spooky, after all. It's just the weather being weird... Until you get the feeling that something is in your house... and you sure as heck didn't invite it in. How will you know? Well, you might hear it, whispering in your ear, or maybe see it as just appearing as part of that movie, or on a Holo-screen you're walking by, and disappearing as quickly as you hear or see it...

It is no ghost, rest assured. More of a projection from my mind, if you will. [ So no external supernatural origins... unlike the ones they were attacked with. ] I can explain later, if you wish to know more.
[ But on to the more pertinent questions. ] Have you met anyone else in this place?
no subject
As for the other question: ]
I have. I'm not the only one stuck here, although not everyone is in my... situation.
no subject
I see. Well, we are in a ViViD setting, which means that our clothes now may not translate to what we are wearing in reality. [ This could go both ways. ] But I understand. I suppose our priorities now would be to, ah, find something better to cover ourselves with?
[ The robot attendants here are surprisingly mild, which is a good thing.
But before that... ] I forget my manners. Could I have your name?
no subject
[ apparently, he wasn't aware of that. At first, he's relieved to think that he's not actually stuck wearing women's smallclothes, but then he realizes it makes almost no difference, seeing as he was seen by and interacted with others here in the exact same way he would in the real world. His face lights up for a sad, brief moment before going back to embarrassed again. ]
... Right. My name is Zara Skeens... [ clears his throat. ] ... Please don't spread what you've seen today around. I've a reputation to uphold.
no subject
[ He replies immediately, frowning slightly. Zara's sentiments are something he very much understands, after all. He, too, has a reputation. ]
I am Takakage Kobayakawa, from the Land of the Rising Sun. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. [ He hasn't seen Zara around, though that is easily explained by the sheer size of the city and the various events that had been happening. ]
no subject
Mister... Kobayakawa? [ he pronounces it slowly, but mostly correctly! Good job, Zara. ] That's quite a mouthful. But yes... Thank you. It seems I'm in your debt.
no subject
Don't worry about it; it's the least I could do. [ At least, it is what he expects every sane person to do, if they were in his situation.
But anyway. ] Shall we go?
[ To find something better to cover themselves with, he means. That is quite high on his priority list right now. ]
no subject
[ takakage also sounds hard to pronounce. But Zara just waves a hand dismissively; he'll learn to pronounce it. It's not a big deal for someone like him. Besides, he has more important problems to solve - like getting out of here and finding pants. ]
Yes, let's. The exit can't be too difficult to find. This is... a garden of some kind?
[ in that case, they should just be able to walk out. ]
no subject
[ But even then... ] It might be more prudent to look around here first. If I am not mistaken, this ViViD platform in particular is supposed to be relaxing. [ Though with the choice of clothes it obviously isn't too relaxing. ] There may be some attendants here that we can ask, or at least supplies that we can take.
[ Which hopefully includes pants. ]
no subject
... Right. This is "virtual." [ he still has a hard time figuring out where the virtual world ends and the real one begins. Honestly, he's just glad he (even vaguely) understands what a "virtual world" is. ] There must be some way to get out. Being trapped is hardly relaxing.
no subject
There should be. I suppose there is a criteria that we will need to fulfil before we are allowed to leave. [ But he hasn't been informed of what it is yet. ] I presume such information was not given to you?
no subject
[ clothes were barely given to him. They defeated that monster, so what else could there possibly be to do? Zara sighs, fidgeting uncomfortably in his slip. ]
I have to believe we've already completed the bulk of what they wanted us to do... Perhaps we simply have to find the exit.
no subject
[ Unless, of course, they had other nasty surprises planned... it wouldn't be completely out of expectation. ]
But before that, we would need something to, ah, preserve our modesty with. [ It's a good thing that there isn't anyone else in the vicinity. He wouldn't want to accidentally disrespect a woman, or have someone do the same to him... ]
I did pass by some couches for sleeping. Perhaps we can take those sheets.
no subject
It's worth a try. Lead the way?
[ he hasn't moved more than a few steps in this place since waking up, and all of those steps were in the direction of the bush he was just hiding in... ]
no subject
So he nods slightly, and begins heading down the way he had came. ]
Let us proceed, then.
[ It takes a few minutes, but they end up walking around a few swimming pools before reaching the sunbathing area. There are futons put at the poolside, and some of them have bedsheets (for some strange reason). There are also some towels hanging to the side, if any of the intended swimmers wished to dry off. ]
There isn't anyone here, so I suppose we can just take them.
no subject
Fortunately, his eternity only lasts a couple of minutes (and he manages to avoid falling into said pools) before they reach something usable. The poor rabbit perks up immediately when he sees the towels. ]
Even if there were others here, I'm certain they'd understand... [ he is not taking no for an answer here. Zara is quick to walk out in front, grabbing the first towel he can get his hands on and quickly wrapping it around his waist. It's a little uncomfortable on the tail, but it's better than nothing - or essentially nothing, as it happens. ] Oh, thank goodness... I thought I'd be stripped of all dignity.
no subject
He ends up draping it around him in a vague imitation of a Roman toga, only turning around once he can be sure that Zara is ready as well. ]
I feared the same as well. [ This is said with a slightly heavier sigh. ] I suppose 'tis fortunate that we have our lives back, but this is something entirely unnecessary.
no subject
[ it takes him a moment to understand what Takakage is talking about; some surprise dawns on him when he does, clearly showing on his face. ]
You truly believe that they saved us by bringing us here, then?
[ not that Zara has another explanation for what happened - he's just hesitant to accept that he's going to die. Or anything else that they tell him, really. ]
no subject
No, not that. If you refer to the tale they fed us about the Flamines, I do not believe it fully either. The probability of it being false still exists. [ He can't quite accept that a being as powerful as Philemon could be thwarted by some mere aliens. ] I had meant that they were able to revive us after our deaths at the hand of that invincible ghost.
[ He shakes his head slightly at this point. ]
Unless I am mistaken? Did you make it out alive as well?
no subject
[ against his desire to keep an open mind, he finds himself slightly relieved that Takakage doesn't buy the Flamines story, either, but that's not the point. He crosses his arms across his chest. ]
You're not mistaken, but this is all "virtual," correct? We were never in real danger.
[ even if it hurt like real danger. ]
no subject
If you mean this ViViD platform, then yes. It is virtual. But the world in which we currently live in - the CERES colony - is very much real.
I do not know where this planet is relative to our worlds, but suffices to say that we are on a different plane altogether. The dangers we had faced, such as the robots and the ghost - they are real.
[ Quite lamentably, indeed. ]
Please, be careful.
no subject
... If we appeared here, though, then surely when we were "killed" by that monster, we were already out of the real world? It's impossible to truly bring the dead back to life.
[ what a jamjar noob you are, zara ]
no subject
It is possible to bring the dead to life. I am technically dead in my homeland. In exchange for living beyond my predestined time, I paid the price of exile. I can no longer return home.
[ He says this evenly, as if it meant little to him. Which it did. It was only the natural course of events, after all. Philemon is indeed a multiversal being, but it did not strike him as impossible to reverse the biological processes of death.
Not to mention that if they were truly code, restoring from a backup would solve the problem. ]
no subject
But you aren't truly a resurrected corpse... You couldn't possibly mean that, could you?
no subject
I am not concretely sure of the circumstance, but I presume you can say that, yes. A greater being healed my fatal affliction.
[ He even knows what it is called - or at least, will be called in modernity. ]
