My Puzzle Life's Complete
Who: Mikleo
a_meebo & Sorey
unwaverings
When: OOC: 11/17; IC: 4/8
Where: The Zesty apartment
What: Sorey has promised to give Mikleo more info on what's going on in this house. Also, he needs a goddamn haircut.
Rating/Warning: Pretty major spoilers for Tales of Zestiria, C for Cute
[Mikleo really hadn't taken a good look around the apartment the previous day. He'd been more inclined to just lie down in bed with Sorey and decompress after talking to so many people, a marvel in and of itself. It had all been a lot to process, and he really didn't think that adding to it with what Sorey needed to say would help him.
It's the early morning when he wakes up. Sorey is still asleep, though that doesn't surprise him at all. Carefully and quietly, Mikleo slips out of bed without disturbing his friend and heads out into the main room. He feels like reading until Sorey wakes up, but something catches his eye.
Leaning against the wall near the couch is a staff. Not just any staff. It's painfully familiar, and he automatically walks towards it. Mikleo picks it up like it might turn to dust in his hands.
Muse's staff. The one thing he has left of his birth mother, other than a painful and horrific memory.
As he holds it in his hands, Mikleo just...doesn't know what to do with it. He's not sure where to put it that's out of the way of anyone trying to walk through the living room. For once, the water seraph is at a loss.]

He's too sleepy to notice much first thing upon waking up, so instead he just notices his best friend standing there for now. ]
Morning, Mikleo.
[ Streeetching a little. ]
no subject
Morning, Sorey. I didn't wake you up, did I?
[He probably did. Oops.]
no subject
What are you doing up?
[ Loooking his friend over. He's holding something, though Sorey isn't exactly very clear on what. ]
no subject
I woke up a couple minutes ago. I thought I'd read and let you sleep a little longer.
[Obviously, this didn't happen. Now, Mikleo remembers that he's holding something and he turns his head to look at it, frowning. He still hasn't really processed his feelings about Michael and Muse, and his expression shows his confliction. It's why he falls uncharacteristically silent instead of continuing on to say something else.]
no subject
[ Let him sleep longer. Sure, he was tired, but ... Mikleo is here. He wants to spend time with him, okay. So he could've woken him up if he wanted to! But things regarding Mikleo never slip past Sorey, and he's quick to pick up on his best friend's odd behavior. ]
... Something wrong?
no subject
Um...do you know where we could put this that's out of the way? We don't need people tripping over it.
[The water seraph isn't even sure he wants it in a place where people can still look at it.]
no subject
We can put it in the closet in my room, if you want.
[ That's both out of sight and out of the way! ]
no subject
Yeah. That sounds good. Wait here a moment.
[Mikleo heads back into Sorey's room and tucks the staff gently into the corner. When he comes back out into the living room, it's clear that he doesn't want to talk about what happened. Honestly, the water seraph needs some time to sort it out for himself before he can even bring it up to Sorey.
Luckily, he has a couple things to distract himself from it. Number one being Sorey's Info Dump Of Doom, and the other?
The water seraph gets up close and personal, gently grabbing a lock of Sorey's hair and examining it.]
You need a haircut. Why haven't you found someone to cut it by now?
[Mikleo is already moving to set up a chair in the kitchen, and goes to grab some towels and a pair of scissors. Yeah, it's happening now whether Sorey wants it to or not. Sorry, Sorey.]
no subject
Huh —? [ Oh. A haircut.
Scratching the back of his head sheepishly ahah ... ] I ... guess it just slipped my mind. Is it really that bad?
[ Well, it has been a couple of months, he supposes ... ]
Whoops might be sneaking in a tag, don't mind me
[Mikleo comes back with towels, scissors, and the shampoo and conditioner he found in the bathroom. He has no idea if those are Alisha's or not, but they're getting used on Sorey. The water seraph sets them on the counter and he shoves the chair closer to the sink.]
Sit. And you still need to fill me in on what's going on. So, talk while I do your hair.
[He can multitask like a champ.]
sneaks one back
You sure don't waste any time.
[ Well, since he's going through all this trouble already ... Sorey will go ahead and sit down when prompted to. ]
Alright, but don't blame me if I leave out details due to being sleepy.
[ Maybe that can cover his ass if he comes across something he'd rather not tell Mikleo about. ]
no subject
Then I'll ask you some things later in the day.
[He lays one towel on Sorey to cover his front from falling hair. Then, he gently adjusts his friend so that his head is leaning over the sink. Best thing about being a water seraph is that he doesn't need a source of water to wash someone's hair. Mikleo concentrates the water into his hands as a steady stream while running them through Sorey's hair.]
Talk, and I promise to make it up to you by making breakfast.
[At least he's not totally heartless?]
no subject
Oh yeah, that's right! I still need to teach you how to use microwaves! [ Perfect. Starting his Cerealia explanation with microwaves. Something nice and tame, haaah ... ] You'll be able to cook things here without much trouble with the heat!
[ That doesn't mean stop making him ice cream, though. ]
no subject
Really? That will be handy. I did take a quick look at the oven, and it looks like you can set what the temperature is going to be at?
[He didn't fail to see that there's a 'bake' option on the oven. Finding the exact temperature should be a breeze, especially if he can access information on specific recipes to make finding it out quicker.]
Not that I'll be ignoring any of my frozen specialties. One of the jobs CERES apparently thought I'd be good at was at an ice cream shop. I'll probably have to stick with making the ice cream rather than anything to do with human interaction. Not everyone is able to see me, even here.
[All things considered, this is a wise move.]
no subject
Closing his eyes so Mikleo doesn't get any shampoo in them though, ah.
But he's amused by that job choice. ] Whoa, really? So you'll get to make your ice cream all day! That's great, Mikleo! [ Peeking an eye open to look up at him, smiling wide. ] Save some for me, okay?
no subject
Kinda makes you wonder how far technology can go in our world.
[Sometimes, humans come up with amazing things! Mikleo begins working in the conditioner. His tone is dry as he says:]
It was either that, aquatic alien training, or cleaning the fish tanks at a seafood restaurant.
[He'll stick to ice cream making, thanks. Regardless, he returns the smile with one of his own as he rinses the conditioner.]
I think I can sneak some out, if you can't swing by for a visit.
no subject
[ This plan makes sense to him! Now that they know it all exists, surely they can find a way to make it ...
He can't help but laugh at Mikleo's job offers though. ]
Sounds like you got the short end of the stick with those ... But the ice cream one fits you perfectly! I got some good ones too when I got here, but I took the job as a lifeguard. [ Puffing his chest out a little as best he can in this position, and giving a proud smile. And you'll never guess what he gets to do. Guard lives. IN WATER. ]
But I'll definitely come by to visit!
no subject
[After rinsing Sorey's hair, he flicks some clean water onto his friend's face playfully. While Mikleo towels off the excess water:]
Lifeguard, huh? What's that all about? Although, it sounds like it fits you judging by the title.
[Mikleo gently helps Sorey up into a more natural sitting position.]
Help me move the chair away from the sink so I can have room to trim you.
no subject
It is! It's my job to make sure no one gets hurt in the water while they're at the pool. You could visit me sometime. I bet you'd have a lot of fun there.
[ But he'll get up when he asks him to move the chair, picking it up and moving it a few feet away from the sink and sitting back down in it. ]
Is this good?
Why am I UP
That's perfect. Thanks.
[He starts to comb through it.]
Well, I can't admit that I'm not curious to see how well you do at that job. As long as I'm not going to be a distraction.
[Alright, time to grab the scissors! Mikleo goes ahead and begins trimming the hair in the back, mostly because it's easier as a starting point.]
Speaking of what you're doing, let's talk about that some more.
[The water seraph has, of course, heard a few things from other people. However, he wants to know exactly what Sorey knows, and see if they match up well enough.]
WHY /ARE/ YOU UP ryuu go to sleep
I'll have you know I do an awesome job! [ Huff puff. ] But you wouldn't be a distraction. If anything, you could help out.
[ Except maybe he would be a little bit because he's a 'babe', and all.
He'll try and keep nice and still for Mikleo, though. So he doesn't mess up. ]
What do you mean? Like, what I've been up to since I got here?
I went to sleep at least??? ;w;
I'm sure you do. [Helping out, though....] Sounds like fun. Guess that means I'll need to look for something appropriate to wear at a pool.
[Considering he doesn't have his beach outfit with him.]
Exactly that. I think we've both put if off for long enough.
[Halfway done with the back of Sorey's head, and then he can check to make sure everything's nice and even.]
good ;~;
But, ahhh. ] It's only been a day, Mikleo. [ Not sure if that counts as putting it off. ] But okay, I'll tell you what's happened. Where should I start?
no subject
He can't see it, but Mikleo quirks an eyebrow.] You also intentionally started this conversation on a light note.
[The water seraph pauses for a moment at the question, covering it up by checking to make sure Sorey's hair is nice and even in the back. Now, he move around to the side to trim around his ear.]
No better place than the beginning, right?
no subject
[ But, ah, wow. Don't call him out on his trying to start this on a light note!! He'll think on that for a second then, before he starts trying to describe the beginning of his time here in .... the gentlest way possible. ]
The beginning ... Okay. Let's see. [ ... ] Well, I woke up here in a hospital, even though there was nothing wrong with me. But they were treating me like there was. It was kind of weird.
[ Maybe if he doesn't ask for details about it he won't have to tell him about the dangerous things. ]
