What: It's a break-in! That seems like a fantastic idea that in no way could possibly go wrong.

[ Entering the CERES research tower will be somewhat easier than expected.

There are no armed guards that will stop anyone if they come in through the front doors (or the side doors, or any doors) and regardless of which doors they choose, there will be a desk, behind which sits a robot receptionist. If they come in through a window, there will be a robot receptionist. No matter how they break in, the receptionist is there.

Weird.

If you talk to the robot receptionist, he will give you a pamphet. It is titled CERES and You: How to Live a Fulfilling Life With CERES. Now doesn't that sound like fun reading.

After a rousing game of rock, paper, scissors (unless you really want to play Uno in the lobby), it's decided. One group will go left. One group will go right.

There are unassuming doors on each side. Time to go! ]

[ There is, in fact, an exit. It's way down at the end of the hall, but it's definitely visible in the way that unlike the rest of the room, which is lit by cold, white light, that exit appears to be radiating a warmer, orangish light.

Hiccup's going to be left alone, though. For now.

As for Tadashi and Hiro, Tadashi is able to get the doors open, which show a dark elevator shaft (what were you expecting them to find?).

The buttons, on the other hand, just make a buzzing noise and proceed to do nothing. Seems like the elevator has been programmed not to leave when it's hit that floor below, at least not until something else happens! ]

[ damn... hopefully they can still follow hiccup, but it looks like they're separated for now.

now, tadashi's objective is to get hiro to calm down. he knows his younger brother is worried for hiccup, and so is he. but freaking out over things won't do much good. ]

Looks like we can't follow Hiccup right now. Let's just do what we can and get the information we need.

[He's still eyeing the elevator shaft, trying to decide if it's wide enough for Baymax's wings to fit so they can fly up. Tadashi's voice brings his attention back though and he nods, pressing the buttons himself once they buzz.]

Okay. Were you having any luck remotely logging on while we were working with the elevator? Where's the tablet?

[ tadashi grabs the tablet and hands it to hiro. if he couldn't crack it, then hiro probably can. (good thing he doesn't know about how grell's head exploded when she tried to hack into the CERES servers, else he wouldn't give the tablet at all to hiro.) ]

Better see for yourself.

[Hiro doesn't even know about Grell's head exploding either, so they're doing well for himself. He's taking the tablet though and glancing it over, sliding some things around on the screen to see what he can do. All right, CERES...what are you going to do if the Hamadas try to hack right into your system here...?]

[ Thankfully, they won't be a repeat of Grell! In that nobody's head explodes. They're able to hack into the system, and they can mess with the elevator if they so please.

That was alarmingly easy. ]

[ tadashi's watching hiro as he works. aaaand that's a success!

he picks up his bag and equips it on him. ]

Good job. Where to?

You did most of the legwork, bro. [Proud little brother? Proud little brother. With the tablet in-hand and the elevator seemingly in-tact, he's looking down at the screen even as he approaches the elevator again. Baymax is watching the boys curiously, still on-guard to protect them from any sort of ambush. Baymax has data saved from the last time they were in the tower. He remembers the sort of terrors that came from it.]

We can either go down and follow Hiccup, or we can head up like we were going to. [He's worried about Hiccup, but at the same time...] He has Toothless with him. And we have Baymax. Do you think he's okay by himself?

[ he's worried about hiccup, as well, but— ] Ideally, we'd want to split up and get as much information as we can.

I'm worried about Hiccup, though.

[ he does enter the elevator, though, and looks up at the buttons. a part of him is eager to go up. ]

[Without a second thought he follows Tadashi into the elevator and scoots over to allow Baymax room to follow the Hamadas, too. The tablet's still in his hand and he's deciphering anything he's seeing on the screen even as he responds to Tadashi.]

I don't have an answer either. [Which is scary. That in itself is scary. He knows Tadashi's right and he agrees that splitting up and covering all of their bases is the best, but he also knows Hiccup and Toothless both died last time.] ...the last time I was in the tower we were hauled off to other parts and some of the lower levels. I have no idea what's up there.

[He wants to follow Hiccup...but it seems as though his mind's made up, especially with how he's eyeing the buttons now.]

[ tadashi puts a hand on hiro's shoulder. ]

Let's just do what we can, and as quickly as possible so we can catch up to Hiccup.

[ two birds, one stone, etc. ]

He'll forgive us. He has to. [And there's a short nod before he turns to look at both his brother and his robot, nodding again as he works something on the tablet to direct the elevator to take them up. What they'll find up there? Guess they'll know soon.]

[ nah, you guys aren't forgiven.

just kidding. hiccup's got his extra not-suspicious exit lit up in front of him, and... well, with no other way to go, that's one of the few options available to him. glancing back to the elevator, he weighs the others: wait for hiro and tadashi, try to move back up, or just move forward.

considering the fact he's moving with toothless to the exit, what he chose is obvious. split up like this, they can cover more ground. the fact they brought him down here is another thing, too--they can't not go through this area, but it's worth is questionable.

hiccup'll poke around the warehouse area just a little more but, if there's nothing of note, he'll be moving to that exit!! good ideas. ]

[ Alright, so now Tadashi and Hiro have totally left Hiccup and Toothless behind. Hopefully they don't mind too much when the elevator leaves them stranded in this eerie place, because that's sure what's happening!

So Hiccup's going right on towards that exit.

And when he steps through the door, he'll see that the room is wide and large, and beneath his feet there is nothing but air and darkness through the holed flooring. And in the middle of the room, lighting it up, there are strange objects. If he had been sensitive to magic, energy or life forces of any sort, it would be clear that that is what those objects are filled with... but he's not. A great deal of the strange objects are charred or outright destroyed, as though something large happened in this room before to do so. Even so, there's a steady hum, as if the machinery is still working in some way.

And because the room has suffered such destruction, there are quite a few worker robots there, seemingly working hard to fix these. It might be the most actual working activity from CERES employees ever seen.

Naturally, they all turn as soon as they see Hiccup. One of them drops its tools. ]

[ Up go Hiro and Tadashi, leaving Hiccup and Toothless down in the depths to fend for themselves. What good pals!

Either way, the elevator will only be able to go so far up -- perhaps forty floors -- before it comes to a grinding halt and the doors slide open. There isn't even a noise to announce that they've arrived; they just slide open, and the elevator won't move any more.

Outside of said elevator, there's a hallway. It's a little dark, though light will reveal that it's a bit more "behind the scenes", so to speak; there's none of the sleekness of CERES' outward front. Wiring is exposed, and the flooring is somewhat rusting in places (don't fall through!). But otherwise, there is only one way to go, and that's forward, into the dark.

It's completely and totally silent. ]

[Welp. No turning back now, and hopefully they all make it out of here in enough pieces to compare notes later. The ride up those forty floors is silent as he puts the tablet into rest mode and waits. When the elevator slows down he looks up at Tadashi somewhat nervously before the doors slide open to reveal the hallway. Truth be told, this reminds him of what happened last time when it had finally come down to just him and Korra. They'd come across a hallway too that was even more damaged, and following the path led them to a door. The door led them to the Bridge.

He has a feeling it won't be that simple this time. Still, he squints through the dark and steps out of the elevator, waiting for Baymax and Tadashi to follow. The robot automatically scans the area for any sign of life or movement, eyes lighting up a bit and shedding a bit of light on their path.]

...last time this happened, we found the Bridge locked in a cage. But this seems a little more...[Foreboding? Ominous? All sorts of spooky words.] C'mon. Baymax, be on defense. [And so he begins to move forward right into the darkness.]

[ good thing tadashi brought a flashlight with him! when he remembers that he has one, he pulls it out of his bag to switch it on, immediately moving in front of hiro to walk ahead of him, flashlight showing the way. ]

Better check our backs, too, [ tadashi says quietly. paranoid? who's paranoid. clearly not tadashi. he hasn't been in this part of the ceres tower - nor has he ever gone inside before - but he's seen way too many movies to know that people should be watching their backs just as much as they do with their front. ]

[This is precisely why Tadashi's the older brother in this situation. Like a boy scout, always prepared. Hiro shoots him a grateful look as he pulls out and turns on the flashlight, nodding along with him when he says that. It's true. They can't be too careful. He doesn't mind that Tadashi takes the lead and instead he stays back to watch over their shoulders as they move. Baymax covers them from the side as they venture forward.]

Where do you think we are anyway? [With the extra light from Tadashi's flashlight though, maybe the answer will be obvious soon enough.]

No idea. [ he looks back at his brother as he speaks, but continues moving forward. ]

Hopefully somewhere useful. [ tadashi's optimistic, at the very least. he'd really like to learn what ceres is hiding, even if they might have arrived at one of the stranger floors. ]

You really think CERES would build something not useful? They're pretty selfish, dude. [It's all mumbled under his breath as they keep moving.] ...last time we ended up in a hallway like this, there was a giant hole blasted in the side of the wall but we kept going further and found the holding cell for the Bridge.

...what if we find someone else?

Just how many people did CERES trap in here, then?

[ i mean, he totally doubts that they'll meet another entity here similar to the bridge, but who knows... ]

Rei told me that when she and her group disappeared in another part of the tower she found cages full of ghosts. We don't really know what they're keeping in here. And what about the Nexus itself? Where is that stored?

[ it's good that hiro has so many questions, but at the same time, it's worrisome because it just means that he's going to throw himself in danger some more. actually, "worrisome" might be the understatement of the year. ]

Hiro, you need to slow down so we can answer these things one at a time.

Dude, what if we don't have time to slow down? [It's snapped, a rapidfire sort of hiss between his teeth. It's not as though Tadashi's wrong. Hiro has a lot of questions and he's itching to find answers and make sense of things. Then again he's also not wrong that Hiro needs to slow down. He huffs in annoyance but before he can say anything, Baymax chimes in.]

Tadashi is correct. We will find answers one at a time. We are good at problem-solving. [It's a reminder mostly because even the robot thinks Hiro's getting too ahead of himself. But he's nervous. He's lost a few things just from how timing's played out. He's not really interested in letting it happen again.] There are still people stuck in there. [But that's all he says as he takes up his position in the rear and keeps watch while they move ahead. They have to be smart about this.] See anything yet?

[ Carrying on down the hallway means that they will soon find the end of the hallway! And, perhaps unsurprisingly, at the end of the hallway there is a door. Or a doorway, rather, but there is no door in it; they can see right on through said doorway to see that the room beyond it opens up into a larger space.

On the other hand, the ground they're walking on has gotten much, much more unstable and rusty, and trembles with every step they take.

Proceed with caution; it appears to be the worst right before they would make it out of the hallway. ]
