What: It's a break-in! That seems like a fantastic idea that in no way could possibly go wrong.
Rating/Warning: PG-13: Some violence, injuries and possible death.

[ Entering the CERES research tower will be somewhat easier than expected.

There are no armed guards that will stop anyone if they come in through the front doors (or the side doors, or any doors) and regardless of which doors they choose, there will be a desk, behind which sits a robot receptionist. If they come in through a window, there will be a robot receptionist. No matter how they break in, the receptionist is there.

Weird.

If you talk to the robot receptionist, he will give you a pamphet. It is titled CERES and You: How to Live a Fulfilling Life With CERES. Now doesn't that sound like fun reading.

After a rousing game of rock, paper, scissors (unless you really want to play Uno in the lobby), it's decided. One group will go left. One group will go right.

There are unassuming doors on each side. Time to go! ]

This is the event log created in response to a player generated plot that was brought to the mods. Please feel free to bring plot ideas to the mods at any time!

[Hinata purses his lips slightly and gives Katsura a look which probably would be similar to Celty's... if, you know, she had a head and all.

But okay gathering behind them it is, waiting in anticipation or something--]

[ No lock! Nobody was expecting maintenance apparently.

Either way, he'll be able to open that door just fine.

You can't see much through the crack, but it seems to be a well-lit room either way. ]

_{[ In he goes, then! Elizabeth decides to stay back— this time behind the entire group. As Katsura enters inside, he seems to be walking cautiously with his hand on the hilt of his sword.

He'll be on the look out for any kind of thngs that might help their guidance. Such as a map? Hmm, maybe that was the flyer the receptionist was giving out— but surely there might be something useful in here, right? ]}

[ In he goes! And, well, the room he'll find looks entirely different from the front of the CERES tower that they've been trampling through thus far. It's a very sleek hallway, though dimly lit, as though it hasn't been in use today (or for a little while).

It's deserted, but there are window panels on the right wall leading to...what appear to be cultivated plants.

To the left, there are desks as though for scientists to work at, though there are no papers or anything scattered about; the desks are clean. Well, maybe there's a pen or two. ]

_{[ what a beautiful little, serene area. Though, Katsura remembers how brutal the plant life and animal life can be here, so he still keeps his caution. He begins to step forward to allow everybody else in the follow, and after taking a prolonged glance at the window to see what he can find, he quickly picks up the pace.

Katsura walks extremely light and quick on his feet. If they are too slow, it could cause other problems. This here is very interesting, but it is not what he is looking for.

Elizabeth stays in the very back of the group, and seems a bit more interested in observing the window and see what is out of it. A placard appears in his flipper as he, uh, speaks to anybody who is willing to read:
"They seem awfully interested—
—In the greenery that is here.
Do you think they are using energy from this planet for something?"]}

This kinda reminds me of the higher floors, [Hinata starts to say, very quietly. He's thinking mostly of the hall he and Katsura were in before, though it led to a crumbling, unused one.

Unused hallways, man. He just hopes there're gonna be no robots with guns.

He'll be following after Katsura, quick as well, one hand tucked under his jacket to grip his gun as they go.]

[ celty decides to stay in the back for now as well to cover their exit. it doesn't seem like any of the robots have followed them, but the black toolbox returns back to its scythe form anyway. she's able to catch elizabeth's message, at least, which only serves to confirm the information hak had given them about the file he found.

she turns on her text-to-voice app on her device, volume turned up just loud enough for katsura and hinata to hear. ]

From what a friend of mine found earlier, CERES has been making profit off of the energy we generate. What kind of energy is unknown, but the revenue is certainly something.

_{[ Zura is plugging right along towards the end of this hallway, though willing to leave Elizabeth and Celty in the back. If they want to take their time, that is fine. This place doesn't seem dangerous, so he is throwing caution to the wind to save them time. No doubt some security breach could happen if they dilly-dally.

As he moves, at a light jog, he does look for any kind of things on the desks that he could maybe investigate other than pens.}

Greed of mankind can certainly be the evilest.
_{[ is Katsura's response. He remembers hearing something about this earlier, so Celty bringing it up again just makes him a bit pissed off. ]}

[ Just pens! The scientists are apparently bad at remembering to grab their pens. Oh, and there's an origami frog a bit further down on one of the tables.

Either way, nothing's going to trip as they make their way down the hallway, but the door at the end of the hallway will indeed be locked.

There's a number pad, which appears to unlock it.

Or they could go through the window to the plants, probably, or blow up more walls. The possibilities are endless! ]

_{[ Katsura reaches the number pad and the door, so he doesn't even bother to try and open the door. When there is a pad here, that usually means it is locked.
Last time, he used the Konami Code (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A) to open the door and it worked to unlock a door, so he's going to try and do that again this time if it has the same keypad that it had before.. which is odd for a keypad.

If it doesn't, he'll rely on Celty again, but if that doesn't work. Well. He has something else in mind.
Elizabeth is well equipped.

The least amount of noise they make, the better, in his opinion. ]}

[Hinata's head is turned toward Celty and he mouths seriously? because he never... heard anything like that. But since they're nearing that door at the end of the hall, he refrains from speaking up or asking for more details.

Later, he'll do that. Or something.

Right now, he peers over Katsura's shoulder and he resists the urge to sigh at the keypad. Well, they'll just smash on through if they have to...]

[ she makes a note to explain things to them both, but for now she waits next to hinata as katsura types in the code. she's not sure if he actually knows the code or if he's simply guessing, but she keeps her guard up just in case something happens.

if all else fails, she can try breaking down the door again. ]

[ Contrary to popular belief, CERES does learn from their mistakes, so --

Okay, no, who am I kidding, the code totally works to open the door. It swings open, giving them a glimpse of a surprisingly well-lit room. The hallway is sterile, and calm, and empty.

But as soon as they walk into it, the door will shut (and seal!) behind them, a robotic voice offering up: ]

Contamination Detected.

[ There are plenty of doors to choose from, at least; there are two lining the hallway immediately on the left, two lining the hallway on the right, or they can continue down the hall, though it is impossible to see what's hiding around the bend. ]

I'm guessing the 'contamination' is us.

[Hinata says it lowly but he's not trying to keep it to a whisper. If they've been detected and, upon checking quickly, if they're stuck here it's probably better to get ready.

So he's pulling out his gun and looking down the hallway.]

_{[ Katsura scoffs at the robotic voice, though he feels they should probably continue to move quickly, especially if danger is a foot.
Zura makes a suggestion, which might be a crazy one: ]}

Split up. One person to each door. If they are locked, move onward until you can find an exit. Whoever finds an exit, let us follow together.

_{[ Katsura goes to the second door on the right side; Elizabeth goes to the second door on the left side when commanded to. They both try to open the door like normal people would, with the handles. If they both open, they both will go through their own doors. If one opens, the other will stop and stand caution as the other looks inside the room.

If neither of them open, they both will proceed down the hallway, not giving Celty a chance to break them open this time.

Both of them have weapons drawn; Katsura with his katana, and behind that sheet, Elizabeth is readying what seems to be a giant drill— though it isn't quite seen just yet. ]}

[ so the poster was foreshadowing after all. wonderful.

anyway, once the door seals behind them, celty only spares it a glance before she takes katsura's suggestion and moves to one of the doors. should it open normally, she'll peer in before attempting to get the attention of the others and if it doesn't, she'll move onto the next one. ]

[Hinata really doesn't like the splitting up thing. His gun is clenched in one of his hands, but the other hand has moved. He flips his hunting knife into that hand so he's armed, carefully going about checking the first door on the right Katsura and Elizabeth didn't get to.

If there's just more filing cabinets, he's going to go down the hallway, but if there's anything that looks suspicious...]

[ The doors open normally, but Hinata's right; it isn't as though they're going to be rewarded for splitting up.

So they won't be able to to see much until they step into the rooms, and once they do, the doors will shut behind them and lock. However, the rooms are all along similar lines -- or, at least, their purpose is clear.

Elizabeth and Celty on the left side will find themselves in the same room -- but separated by a panel of clear walling that looks a lot like glass. It is transparent, so Elizabeth will be able to look in on Celty, who happens to be with that metal claw. That seems safe!

Hinata, on the other hand, will find that his room is a little dingier; it appears to be some sort of control panel of sorts. There are levers and buttons galore on the wall, but otherwise no other place to go.

Katsura will find that he is in a perfectly normal room. There are stairs to one side, but otherwise it seems to be a waiting room of sorts; if he takes the stairs, he will find that he is in a lounge. It's a very comfortable lounge with very comfortable seats. It overlooks Celty and Elizabeth's room with a large, transparent window, as though it was created to view just that. ]

Ah.

[When the door shuts and locks behind him he feels a sharp jolt of dismay in his stomach, a voice in his head that says you knew this would happen.

But, he takes a deep breath, to assuage any panic. Sheathing his knife for now but keeping his gun ready, he uncertainly heads toward the mass of levers and buttons. He's going to examine them, he's not going to touch anything for now.]

[ There sure are a lot of buttons and levers! They're all labeled, too, but it's in a language that Hinata won't be able to read.

Nothing will happen if he doesn't press anything. He can just stay here forever, that's fine. ]

_{[ Meanwhile, Katsura does investigate upstairs. He move rather quickly until he reaches the top where he slows down and then puts his attention on the upstairs room. He looks for anything that might be useful, otherwise he puts his gaze on the window.

Pressing his fingers to the glass, he speaks out, wondering if he can be heard: ]}

Celty-dono! Elizabeth! Can you hear me?

_{[ Elizabeth, however, readies the drill from underneath his sheet. He'll try to drill himself out if there is no other means of escape, but for now, he is walking over to the glass to take a look at Celty.
A placard appears:
"Is there anything useful on your side?—
—What do you think the crane does?"}

[ celty can't hear what katsura is saying exactly, but she does signal to him that she's fine before approaching the transparent wall to read elizabeth's placard. ]

I can't see anything of use right now. [ just the crane in the middle; the fact that there's no exit is also very concerning. it seems like whatever happens in the room they're in is meant to be observed by those in katsura's room. it makes sense that there wouldn't be another way out besides the way she came in.

it's like watching a show, isn't it? ]

I'm not sure, but the crane looks like it can lift a person. For what purpose, I can't tell.

[UGHHH pressing buttons it's going to have to be. He doesn't like this, but it doesn't seem like there's another immediate solution. Sighing heavily, he moves to press one of them.]

_{[ Hinata, don't do it. Hoe, don't do it.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth also doesn't seem to comfortable with this either. A large drill pokes out of his beak and he paces back and forth, looking for a good spot to drill through the wall.

It revs up and he holds up a sign:
"Please step back and watch yourself."

Elizabeth begins to drill, hoping to cause some kind of damage to this wall. If they can't get out of here by themselves, at least maybe they could be together.

Katsura, on the other hand, continues to snoop around his room but it looks pretty vacant besides getting front row seats to... whatever this is. ]}

[ okay, she was not expecting a drill to poke out of his beak but, alright. she steps back to give him room to work with, keeping her guard up just in case the claw reacts to the damage inflicted on the wall.

in the meantime, she try to look around for any sign of an exit, just to be sure. space is limited, however, so she's not really expecting much. ]
