[ upon kogami's suggestion, akane's taken it upon herself to find a suitable (ha ha) way of celebrating her 23rd birthday! she found the chilling cave by coincidence while patrolling the streets once and decided that she wants to try ice skating.

so after texting the guys (brother, mom, and dad), as well as a couple of friends (really, it's just a couple. she doesn't have much friends) if they're free on the 17th, she waits outside the chilling cave, hoping to meet up with her friends.

Well, that is a legitimate reason since she would probably do the same. But he can be honest? Gosh.

Sickness is not something that one has to shoulder on their own. If you are ill, it means your body is prone to weakness. Though you would be able to do things yourself such as rest, having someone help you will reduce your burden and aid you so that you will have a fast recovery. Though you say it is your body's fault, it does not mean you must suffer alone.

Now. [And she puts both her hands on his shoulders.] You are dizzy, no? We need to find a place to lie down. If we can't locate the lounges, I will push these chairs together.

...I haven't run diagnostics on myself in a while. That must be why. [ From going through testing every day, to nothing at all— he can appreciate that his body might be out of whack. ] But it's fine. Go and enjoy yourself— it shouldn't be an issue if I stay and rest for a few minutes.

And there we go. She's strong though so his weight wasn't even a problem, and she assists him as he settles down.]

R-run diagnostics? [She's a bit puzzled, since that just makes it sound like he's a robot?! But shh.] It's fine, I can stay a while. I'll get wet a towel so you'll recover faster. The others are waiting for you too.

[ Sweet summer child... why does she think he has metal bits jammed into him!! But no, he appreciates her for all of this consideration, even if he thinks it's misplaced.

After settling on the couch, despite feeling some trepidation about the whole thing, he pulls down his collar and lets himself breathe more properly. Vietnam's already seen his messed-up face, he figures that she won't balk (and if she does, he can just zip his coat back up again). ]

...It's Tsunemori's birthday. [ He says this with a degree of strictness, with an air of finality, because this is Important. ] Make sure she doesn't fall on the ice, instead of spending her party here, with someone who can handle himself.

[ tsun translator: 'go make sure Akane's having fun because she's the important one today.' ]

[She didn't think that far, okay?! She just knows that he sniffs strange white powder (ah).

She definitely doesn't balk (because yes, she's already seen it), opting to fan him with her hand instead now that his face is free.]

I don't think she would want someone down for the count. But really, just let me get it for you, I'm quick. [LOOK JUST REST PROPERLY she's beginning to feel like he's the type who will die for others as long as they're happy.

But god, laughs a little, laughs a lot. Adolf doesn't consider himself self-sacrificing— directionless, maybe, but certainly nothing as glamorous as magnanimous— so Vietnam is the paragon of selflessness to him, in this case.

He's exasperated, and it shows in the way his brows knit. But he's also grateful, and he closes his eyes to let her do what she wants. Because he figures 'no' isn't an option. ]

That moment when they think the other is more selfless than they are?! God these two. But since he's given in, she looks a lot more pleasant. Patting his hand, she moves to leave.] You're welcome. I will be back, so rest for now.

[And off she goes, to get a wet towel. Which is a lot quicker than expected since seriously all she needed is a towel: there's sources of water everywhere?! But no she actually was pretty legit in soaking it up. It's warm water, but that's just to regulate.

Quietly, she creeps over to him in order to not disturb him (if he's even asleep) to place it gently on his forehead.]

[ Finally, I can use this icon... not that he's fully asleep, just. Resting. He's less austere with his eyes closed, a little younger when he doesn't make himself look like he has to brace himself against everything life has to offer. Relax, eelkun, it's just a party.

The feeling of something warm against his forehead makes him crack one eye open, and a hand migrates over to press the wet towel a little more firmly over his skin. ]

I owe you. Again. [ People are too kind, he thinks. Like a kid, he doesn't want to be a burden; like a kid without a home, he's afraid of being accepted.

But this is nice, even if he feels guilty. Ah, what a mess— it must be because he's sick. ] ...Go skate. I'll be fine by the time you get back.

[She helps him fix the towel before testing for his temperature again by placing her hand over his cheeks, a little more carefully over the one where half his face is ripped off?! It's still too early to tell, but she was hoping maybe the rest would've helped him a little bit.]

It would be better if you didn't get sick at all, but I suppose. Should you have chosen another day, you should pick a day you do not work. [Hahaha.] I wonder why it was chosen. I guess because it would be fun to learn.

But it really is difficult for him to be like this, useless and unwell. He has a certain standard he upholds, though they're mostly arbitrary— he'd like to be strong for other people, if only because all the people he'd been surrounded with back home were far less equipped to protect themselves than he was.
