Who: The Ace Attorney cast + CR!
When: 4/19, afternoon and evening
Where: The function room of some restaurant in the Shopping District
What: Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, Klavier Gavin and Ema Skye are celebrating their birthdays in one big bash with all their friends.
Rating/Warning: Nobody’s getting murdered, so just Ace Attorney ridiculousness.

[ It was by sheer coincidence that the month of April had so many birthdays from people from the same world. Which meant that the best solution was to have the largest birthday party of all birthday parties. Or so was Klavier’s thinking. He knew that some part of the population was plagued with some weird disease that caused headache and fever, so the celebration was relatively low key.

But low key for Klavier would still be considered extravagant for others. He took the liberty of renting out a large room in one of Cerealia’s many restaurants and sent an invite to everyone who he could think of was in Cerealia and encouraged them to invite their friends. The more the merrier, as he said.

Because all of the people celebrating had some connection with the law, there was thus an appropriate cake. There was some confusion with the food because instead of ramen and burgers, there were ramen burgers instead being served on trays by waiters. Plus the drinks were unusually glimmerous, to say the least (but non alcoholic, of course.)

Aside from the food, there was music and even a piano in the back in case some people wanted to play. A gift table was set up so that people could leave their gifts, but good luck trying to find it. ]

(( this is an open log so please feel free to make top levels for your characters! if your character knows any of the ace attorney people even by the slightest smidgen, chances are they were invited. or you can gatecrash and nobody would be able to tell. or klavier accidentally texted the wrong number and they got invited. ))

[Phoenix had been blissfully free of feeling awkward... until he heard Klavier's rockin' laughter. It only highlighted the awkwardness of the situation for Phoenix.

He feels like he's moved past that incident enough to joke about it, especially now that he's regained his badge, but this moment seems to have helped to revive it. Phoenix laughs uncomfortably as he dwells on this.]

...Thanks! You know, you better enjoy it too, Klavier.

[I have to let him know that everything's okay now without making a scene. That will get rid of the weirdness...

...I got it! He's a birthday boy too, so he should get a chance to cut the cake as well! I'll just hand this to him and tell him to take a cut! Problem solved.

Phoenix then abruptly tries to hand the knife over to Klavier. If the blade wasn't facing upwards at the time, it might have looked like an attempted stabbing.]

H-have a knife!

[chordplay]

Achtung! You might want to be careful with that Herr Wright.

[ He's just gonna carefully take a step back and slightly to the side. Just so that he's away from the point of that knife. ]

[bewrightback]

S-sorry! Sorry. [He chuckles nervously as he keeps holding the knife out.]

I didn't mean to... Um, it's all yours!

[chordplay]

[ He's just going to take this moment to stare at Phoenix and the knife in his hand. ]

Perhaps it would be better if you placed the knife down on the table so that there's no danger of anybody drawing blood, hmm?

[bewrightback]

Er... Good thinking, Klavier!

Anything that keeps this party from becoming an actual crime scene, am I right?

[There's a little more uncomfortable laughter, and then Phoenix very slowly and carefully sets the knife down at the table.]

[ This needed to feel less like a Mexican standoff, but at least Phoenix has put the cake knife aside. Which means that it was Klavier's turn to pick up the knife, very carefully. ]

Would you like a slice Herr Wright?

[ this needed to stop being so awkward ]

[bewrightback]

It's okay! It's okay. [He raises his hands as if in surrender.]

I already cut myself one.

So... You're good.

[chordplay]

[ Klavier nods, slowly and then he proceeds to slice the cake with the aforementioned knife carefully. Very carefully. But after a moment, he now his own slice of cake on a plate, ready for eating.

He places the knife back on the table, looking wary. ]

Now then. Enjoying the party?

[Phoenix tensed as the entire scene played out before him, but once the knife was set down, it seemed like the unnecessary tension was clearing away. He gave a more genuine smile.]

I definitely am. No complaints here!

You really went... actually, no, you didn't go all out. But that happens to be exactly what I like!

[chordplay]

Ja, it's not as all out as I could do but I had to take all the sick frauleins into consideration.

[ There's a hell of a lot of them connected to you, Phoenix Wright. But he doesn't voice that as he take a bite out of his cake. ]

[Wow is it so bad that he's a magnet for cinnamon rolls?]

Heh. Well, I definitely am thankful that you're thinking of them. [He says as he takes a bit of his slice.] The last thing we need is for them to overstress themselves... I'll still have to check on them and make sure they're alright.

[chordplay]

The very picture of a doting father figure, ja.

[ There's a smile on Klavier's face. He wishes that Kristoph's brotherly concern was anything like the concern Phoenix had for his adopted crew of fledglings. ]

I can see why Herr Justice looks up to you.

[bewrightback]

[Now he smiles sheepishly.]

Wh-what, really? [It catches him offguard. Especially when he remembers how things were back home, before that final trial helped put everything together again. It had felt like everyone was slipping away from him... that he could never be a good leader like Mia or Solomon Starbuck. So it's definitely flattering to hear that now.]

I just try my best. ...Does Apollo look up to me that much?

[chordplay]

You forget, Herr Wright that I am in the business of reading people. Normally I use it to get the crowd rocking but it does serve me well in court and beyond.

[ It's nothing supernatural, just part of him being smarter than he lets on. But Phoenix's reaction does get a small, wry smile out of him. ]

He came back, after all. After that devastating loss of his friend. He found "the truth" with some help from you.

[bewrightback]

...I don't give you enough credit. [He admits with a nod and a light smile.]

I guess you're right. Even with everything that happened, he still came back. And I'm glad for that.

[But then a shadow falls over his face.]

...Of course, he doesn't know any of that yet.

[chordplay]

I can tell.

[ But he shakes his head lightly. He doesn't know what he can really add to that, so instead switches the topic of conversation. ]

But I would rather talk about you and the lovely Fraulein Iris. Now that's quite the shocker.

[ Klavier gives Phoenix a wink. ]

[WHY A WINK

Phoenix quickly looks flustered and looks around quickly, perhaps trying to make sure Iris isn't in eartshot.]

Iris?! You- you met her? What...

What do you mean? Why?

[ Klavier's a smooth customer but he looks a little ruffled to even explain this. He will however, lower his voice. ]

I met her in ViViD when we first arrived. So I thought I'd get to know the lovely fraulein and it turns out that you two were college sweethearts.

[He tries to settle down, but now he looks a little flushed.]

O-oh. So you... You found out about that, huh?
