[ So while you're walking about, enjoying or hating your day, you will encounter a dog. This dog will, as adorable corgis do, perform one of the following feats:

a.) Steal whatever you're holding for a game of Keep Away. Don't think that being tall will save you, he's got quite the spring in his hind legs.

b.) Drop whatever thing he's picked up (ball, wadded up paper, someone's high heel) and wait expectantly for you to play fetch with him.

c.) Bark. And roll over. This means love him.

d.) Trip you. It's probably unintentional.

Whatever he does, at least you'll hear two voices (familiar or not) clamoring in the distance for "Zweeeeeeeeeeeeeei!" and then Yang and Ruby will be heading in your direction at high speed.

Whatever you do, don't grab the dog and run. They may not know who you are, but they will find you. And they will kill you.

Or at least make you regret it. ]

Whoa-- what are you?

[ And now there's Yang, crouching down to investigate the Aron, smiling cheerily. ]

[ oh dear! that was a close one, but aron definitely wouldn't let herself be trampled - she's small, but quite hardy! steven's attention shifts from the dog to the sound of someone approaching, eyebrow raised. "zwei" must be his name, so that must mean that these ladies are his owners. ]

Hello. [ said to ruby when she approaches. his smile directed to the dog moves to focus on her and then to yang, polite and welcoming. aron chirps happily at yang as a greeting, eyes closing in friendly glee. ] She's a creature from my world. And I assume this other little one belongs to you two?

[undaunts]

Yep, that's Zwei!

[She grins, glancing between Aron and Zwei thoughtfully.]

He's our dog.

[Now Ruby's peering curiously at the Pokemon as well, thoughtful.]

What's her name?

[ Ruby's answered the important questions here, so Yang is just going to focus on trying to pet the Aron. Oh gosh she chirps, that's precious. ]

I'm glad to see he's friendly. I'm not familiar with dogs as a species, but I do know of Pokémon with similar traits.

[ he's always been more of a feline guy, but growlithe and lilipup puppies are always cute - he can appreciate them! aron on the other hand is hamming up the cute factor, nuzzling into yang's hand when she pets her. just don't try to lift her - she's over 120lbs of adorable. literally. ]

Aron... huh?

[And... Pokemon? Oh!! Oh!!!]

Oh, Pokemon, you mean like Silver's Gengar! Wow, they look really different.

[flaredo]

Silver's wha-- are they like your world's animals or something?

[ AND WHY ARE YOU SO CUTE, ARON-- ]

That's right. Silver and I come from the same world.

[ he's still a little bummed that he's gone and all, but it doesn't betray his collected expression. instead, he nods at yang's question. ]

More or less. I'd be hesitant to call them the same, but they do share many traits.

[undaunts]

But they're still your friends, right?

[That's what really matters about Pokemon and animals alike.]

Exactly! And I'm sure some of yours are fluffy!

[geophile]

Of course. Some of my Pokémon have been by my side since I was young - not calling them friends wouldn't do our relationships justice.

[ he'll punctuate by giving aron a little scratch under the chin, which she happily leans into before opening his arms for her to jump into. he rises, lifting her like it's no sweat. ]

Zwei is your friend, is he not? It's the same for us.

[undaunts]

Yep! So in the end, the most important parts are still the same.

[Dogs and Pokemon. Best friends forever.]

He's more like family, though.

[ Probably has his own placemat and everything. ]

[ he nods, both at ruby and yang's words. his metagross and aggron had been around since he was young, and calling them family just seemed right. ]

It's hard not to think of them that way after they've been by your side for logn enough. When you keep similarities like that in mind, the divide between worlds doesn't seem so large.

[undaunts]

... So does that mean you have giant soulless monsters too?

[Sorry, it was the first thing that came to mind.]

... I don't think he meant the killer monsters, Ruby.

[ Hopefully. ]

Giant, yes, at times. Soulless, thankfully not. Killer... depends on the situation, but usually not.

[ sounds like your world is a hoot, ladies. ]

[undaunts]

[It suuuuure is.]

Oh. Got it.

But there have to be more worlds than ours with them right?

Of course there are! Naoki's world has them-- kind of. I'd be happy if ours weren't soulless, though.
