What: In which a corgi rains terror over the populace

[ So while you're walking about, enjoying or hating your day, you will encounter a dog. This dog will, as adorable corgis do, perform one of the following feats:

a.) Steal whatever you're holding for a game of Keep Away. Don't think that being tall will save you, he's got quite the spring in his hind legs.

b.) Drop whatever thing he's picked up (ball, wadded up paper, someone's high heel) and wait expectantly for you to play fetch with him.

c.) Bark. And roll over. This means love him.

d.) Trip you. It's probably unintentional.

Whatever he does, at least you'll hear two voices (familiar or not) clamoring in the distance for "Zweeeeeeeeeeeeeei!" and then Yang and Ruby will be heading in your direction at high speed.

Whatever you do, don't grab the dog and run. They may not know who you are, but they will find you. And they will kill you.

Or at least make you regret it. ]

[See, the good part about being asked to play fetch with a dog that's stolen something from somebody else is that he can now 100% fully enjoy the cuteness of said dog without simultaneously being miffed at having something snatched away!

ie rip whoever this high heel does belong to, because it sure isn't Kashuu's.]

Whatcha got there, huh? [PICKING UP THE SHOE and reaching down simultaneously with his other hand to pat this cute, cute corgi.] Not bad taste, but we should prooobably get this back to whoever it belongs to.

[Is he gonna try scooping the corgi up? HE SURE IS. Though he's got to pause his efforts because at least one of those two voices sounds familiar. AND THERE SHE IS--]

Oh! Hey, is this yours? [The shoe or the dog??]

[Mikleo isn't exactly paying attention as he walks down the sidewalk from lunch with Sorey. His thoughts are preoccupied with worry over whatever's happened in their world to cause his friend to be a little less than his normal self.

So, he trips over the little dog that runs in his path. The seraph is able to catch himself and he looks around on the ground for whatever made him lose his balance.

Mikleo stares at the corgi.

The corgi stares back at him.

Then, the corgi barks and rolls over for love and attention. Sadly, Mikleo's having none of it as he squeaks and takes a couple steps backwards. Please don't follow him, little doggy, he is terrified of you.]

No.

[Look at this horrible person not petting a dog. He can't even do a sparkly shoujo moment where the dog warms his ice cold heart.

Okay, maybe a little bit. Hopefully Yang and Ruby aren't watching as they run up when Archer throws out a bit of chicken for the dog.]

Now shoo before you get buried.

kidding. but being the trainer he is, steven does have an affinity for non-human creatures. said affinity is usually directed towards those of a more... metallic variety, but hey! these "dog" things are okay, too.

he's out for a walk with his own small companion by his side when this furry animal bounds up and barks at him, offering itself for pets. aron seems intrigued and curious, but who is steven to ignore it?

he crouches down, giving the puppy a pet on the tummy. ]

[Keimi was just on her way home from the market, towing a small box of supplies in a bubble behind her when she comes across a fuzzy little friend sitting down and staring at her curiously.

The mermaid beams at the corgi, giving him a little wave before floating closer. Oh, he has a little ball at his feet.]

Hello, little doggie. Did you want to play fetch?

[With a little work bending over the side of her bubble, she is now plus one red rubber ball. And with a wind of her arm... away it across the square!]

[ that dog just took malia's SKEWER OF MEAT. she was lifting it to her mouth, about the bite into the thing in the happy sort of way malia only gets around things that make her feel more feral when SUDDENLY. suddenly.

she blinks, hand empty and corgi in front of her, happily wagging his tail and holding her meat. nnnno?? nooo???? she takes a step forward, zwei takes a step backwards and then malia does what any responsible teen girl who just got her meat stolen would do.

she growls.

and then the fangs come out. ]

--oh, it's gonna be like that, huh, Zwei?

[ZWEI NICKED A BOOK FROM HIM... One of a few, actually. That just so happened to be one that he was reading while he was walking. What? It was a book day. Naoki has...quite a bit of free time.]

C'mere, you. [He's wiggling his fingers and approaching. HE WILL PLAY KEEP AWAY he has no reservations about playing with cute dog tho he vaguely wonders why Ruby and Yang aren't with him but hey.]

[OH MY GOSH AN ADORABLE PUPPY

GUESS WHAT ENE HAS NOT DONE IN HER PHYSICAL FORM YET IT'S PET A DOG

[ Dipper had no prayer of being tall to save him to begin with. It's a package that Zwei swipes out of his hand as he's stopped in front of a building in the residential district to deliver it. Such is the life of a delivery boy.

More than anything, he's a little surprised to even see an actual dog and not a CyBuddy. He's kind of gotten used to the whole no-animals thing. ]

Aw, come on, man... [ He grabs for the package to no avail. HE'S LOSING AT KEEP-AWAY BADLY. ]

[Yona rubs her sore arms as she walks home from archery class. She's been pushing herself hard these past few weeks, trying to distract herself from everything that's happened ... but perhaps more importantly, to distract herself from an encroaching sense of uselessness. This world is too big for her; she's still struggling to handle her day-to-day existence, much less investigate the larger story. But she's not content that way. She wants to be doing more; she just doesn't feel capable of it, and it frustrates her.

She closes her eyes for just one moment —

And that's when she trips over the dog.]

WAH!

...all I'm saying is, it wouldn't kill him to put a little effort into her instead of himself, y'know? I mean, he's a nice guy, sure, but does he even know what her favourite flower is? Has he ever even smelled a flower in his life, or does he just walk around on this earth thinking that flowers smell hi-- ZWEI!!! [ Jaune jumps back in outrage as the corgi raised a leg to pee on him. ]

You can't-- don't pee on me while we're having a D&M!! At least let me finish making a point!

[it looks more like yuri gets the alternate situation. the one where zwei approaches, but he's too busy watching repede's reaction in amusement to do much else.

because naturally, repede being the larger dog here, is just staring him down curiously and debating whether or not to establish dominance. time to pee all over cerealia?? okay, probably not, because repede's not that concerned, so he just... sits. which amuses yuri as he waits for the inevitable one of two people this dog is probably attached to.]

So pup, you Zwei, then? [he'll kneel down himself to give the dog some pats. he hasn't heard of anyone else around with real dogs lately...

...and the voices crying that name in the near distance all but confirm that for him. nailed it.] Guess so.

[It's Freddie's fault for having his face down in his notebook while walking, really. The last thing he's expecting is a small dog to get in his way, and down he goes with a surprised yell. Luckily he doesn't land on his face. When he does hit the ground, the corgi seems pleased that someone has come down to his level and flops over for some belly rubs. Freddie's a dog person, but he's not amused.]

You trip me, and then expect love? That's hardly fair!

[The thing about not growing up around animals, and then not even really being around any until coming here anyway, is every animal encounter is especially novel. He's seen Zwei before, but that was under less than ideal circumstances. Now, though, Kagari is just on his way home from work, and has no qualms about stopping to pet something he's pretty sure isn't going to bite him.

In any case, he's crouched down, using both hands to rub Zwei's belly. He's smiling to himself, but also speaking quietly and with a semi-serious tone, too.]

Alright, you gotta tell me if this stops being fun for you. I'm not a dog expert, alright?

[It's a natural impulse, Chibi thinks, to have a weakness for the little and furry. If the Goddess has given them the duty to protect the creatures of their planet, and the small are more vulnerable, is it not natural that they should have fondness coded within their brains for those little ones? Yes, let's go with that.]

[So when a boowolf pup with the tiniest legs trots up to him, barks, and rolls over for love, Chibi immediately breaks into a grin.]

Aah, so you want attention, don't you? [Who wouldn't give this furry little thing attention?? He kneels down to scratch the little guy's belly with both hands, growling back at him playfully...]

[Only to hear Ruby's voice, as well as her sister's (Yang, was that the name?), calling after him. Chibi doesn't get up, nor does he stop petting the corgi; he just looks up and says:] Ah, is he your companion?

[Let's be real, Hiro's head's been in the clouds for the last couple of days and he's been focused on a couple of Really Important Things. It's more his own fault than Zwei's that he steps out of a shop with his nose in one of his journals and an energy drink in his hand, not seeing where he's going before he finds himself tripping.

Well. It's more like he trips himself, seeing how he spots something in his peripheral vision last-minute while he was trying to open the drink can. He tries to move his body so he doesn't hurt the corgi, but he winds up falling on the ground and the can rolls away, notebook also landing a few inches in front of him. He's about to scold the animal before he realizes who it is and his expression brightens considerably.]

You could have just said hello, you know. [He's. Not getting up from the ground and instead he's holding out a hand to provide the dog with ear scritches. He knows what this means though. Where there's a Zwei, there's bound to be one or two girls following. He's content to wait here with Zwei until they show up, at least.] At least you're making sure they're getting their exercise today.

[She pauses in her steps as soon as she hears the dog bark, and... Who could refuse to pet an animal as cute as this one? So she bends down with a smile to scratch at his belly gently.

It's then that she hears the yells and sees the two young women heading her way.]

Oh, does this dog belong to you?

[ Well petting random animals isn't uncommon for actual disney princess Kousetsu. So when he randomly runs into the lone corgi he can't help but bend down and gently rub his belly.

Kousetsu's serious expression only makes the situation even funnier because he's just way too serious about it. This is a cute dog though and the robotic cybuddy bird on his shoulder does agree.

He looks around wondering where his master(s) might be. But he doesn't seem to put off by having to indulge the dog, tbh. ]

[Minato's come to expect that there will never quite be an uneventful day in Cerealia, and his pleasant if rather nondescript walk through the city after he's well again is soon interrupted by a corgi in front of him, and as a Minato is wont to do he simply stops and bends down to give the dog a hearty belly rub.]

Good boy. [He's still rubbing Zwei's belly in pure bliss when Zwei's owners run over to him, and he'll look up at them lazily whenever they arrive.]

Is he your dog?

[It is possible the dog dropped this soggy, damp, rolled-up newspaper in front of Sakuya for non-fetch reasons. It all depends on how he feels about birds. But there is no answer that will impress Sakuya, who feels less than charitable towards dogs, and especially dogs offering him trash.]

—What is this, you dirty mutt? What do you think you are up to? How disgusting.

[Oh. Well. That's...definitely one of Minako's shoes. And that's definitely covered in corgi drool. Rei pulls a face and looks down at the shoe. Tentatively, she kneels down, pulling out a handkerchief and starting to wipe it down.

And then come the two girls, scampering up, and that draws her up sharply.]

Oh! Ruby-chan? Is...this yours?

[Gesturing to the dog...]

[Edgeworth had just done the day's grocery shopping when he hears barking. Looking down, he finds himself staring at an eager corgi suddenly rolling onto its back. At first he's surprised, but his surprise melts into something very rare - a small but warm, satisfied smile. Where did this dog come from, and why was it suddenly rolling over and demanding petting fun times?

He squats, grocery bag balanced on his lap, reaching out to scratch the dog's belly. Ugh, he can't resist. But the voices make him look up while still petting Zwei like there's tomorrow.]

Ah, is this your dog?

[Unfortunately for Nice, the item he stole was a bag of a jerky-looking type of food. And after some chasing around, he finally had to use his Minimum to catch the dog and pick it up, even though now he's having some intense tug of war...]

Give it back!!

[But that's when he hears the screaming, and he backs up in surprise, but doesn't run.}

Is this your dog?!

[He's at least not trying to chase what isn't there anymore, but every time he sees his friends out of the corners of his eyes it still makes his heart sink.

Normally when he realizes things aren't real, they go away -- but that isn't really the case this time. At least it doesn't seem to be as often as it was...so there's that.

It's because he's lost in thought that he trips and falls over the dog, with a lot of yelling and probably some swearing.]

Hey!! What'd you do that--

[And when he turns around, he realizes he's yelling at a dog.

It gives him pause, if only for a minute, because he's just going to continue yelling at a dog, which obviously can't yell back:]

What'd you do that for?! I didn't do anything to you!!

[He's too busy yelling that he doesn't realize there are two girls racing towards him...

Well, at least he's distracted.]

[ The sight of the dog makes Alisha giggle. She smiles brightly, leaning down to pet him. However, she stops when she hears the voices of Yang and Ruby.

Looking up, she sends he two of them rather curious looks. ]

Is it alright if I pet him?
