What: Edgeworth takes his dog around, and runs into people. Adorbs ensues.
Rating/Warning: Dog. Grumpy prosecutor being a little less grumpy.

[OPTION A: RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT

Edgeworth is taking his dog out for a walk around the district. And before he can do anything, the big and very real tricolor border collie suddenly stands up on his hind legs and barks excitedly at the first person he sees (which is you, sorry). Pess may or may not brace his front paws on your thigh or any part of you he can reach, tail wagging with anticipation. It's a new friend. New friend!!! On the bright side, he's a pretty clean dog. NEW FRIEND!!!

Edgeworth doesn't care, and gasps at this public display of affection.]

Pess, no. [That firm "no" is all it takes for Pess to behave, although his tail is still wagging like crazy and he's panting and grinning as a dog would. Edgeworth sighs, shaking his head. He's quick to apologize.] I'm sorry; he enjoys meeting new people.

[Far more than his master.]

[OPTION B: SHOPPING DISTRICT

There's a cleaning robot. It's doing its business, sweeping up some debris from a nearby food stall. Suddenly, out of nowhere comes this border collie. He bounds over to the robot, starts sniffing it, and promptly raises one leg ominously over the poor thing.

What do you do, responsible citizen of Cerealia? What do you do - well, while Edgeworth hasn't caught up with his dog, anyway?]

[OPTION C: GARDENS

Pess is a pro at getting people to play with him. So while you're there, you may just find this dog walking up to you with a stick, or a ball, in his mouth. He drops this at your feet, wanting a game of fetch. If you take too long to decide what to do, he'll just sit down, tail wagging happily and staring up at you with those big pleading puppy eyes.

Edgeworth is close by. He'll be looking for his dog when Pess takes a bit too long to get back to him.]

[OPTION D: GARDENS/SHOPPING DISTRICT/RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT/POLICE DEPT.

Drop something? If you did, you might just find this dog picking it up and offering it back to you suddenly before Edgeworth can act. Yeah, I guess Edgeworth is in this prompt too. Thank his dog. And the master, maybe. THEY'RE GOOD PEOPLES...er, peoples and doge.]

[ Did you know that Jaune is probably the only human in Cerealia doing a job that any robot can do for less? That's right, he's a street sweeper! So what do you think he'll do when he sees doge attempting to pee on a robot that's trying to put Jaune out of business?

T-That's right, you show them, buddy... oh, I hope it stains for a week, c'mon now... no time for stage fright...!!

Oh no, not at all, sir. He's been lovely company while I wait. [She gently strokes behind the dog's ear.]

It's very nice to meet you, Pess. And you as well, sir. [She stood up and offered a curtsy.] My name is Alice Liddell, sir.

[ It's not very often you get to see dogs running around. At least from what he's seen here, there aren't actually all too many animals. That's why it's such a surprise when Pess bounds over with a ball in his mouth, wagging his tail because he wants to play. Merlin does take a moment to see if he can spot the owner, but as he can't see anyone right away he decides it wouldn't hurt to have a little fun.

There's still some wariness when he takes the ball that Pess suddenly drops, but then he's flipping his hand over, palm flattening to view the ball properly. ]

After three, ready? [ He looks down at the dog, then around the gardens to make sure no one is watching, then as soon as he looks at the ball in his hand his eyes flash gold and it's floating.

That sure is a flying ball. ]

Go get it then. [ Only it's hardly going in a straight line and the poor dog may end up out of breath as he chases the ball in actual circles, or who knows, maybe he's too smart to deal with this and will just judge him for trying to make it a challenge. ]

[She gets a little bit of a fright when the dog runs up to her. She didn't expect to see Pess at all! She had just been running a bit in the gardens and then, poof dog!

She bends down towards him and goes to pet his head, before she notices the stick.]

Oh, I see. You want to play huh?

[She grabs hold of the stick, then stands up] Alright then, catch it if you can! [And she throws the stick as straight as she can in the opposite direction.]

( Cassandra's lips thin as the men bends his torso. Is he truly... yes. He is indeed. Being bowed to makes her vaguely uncomfortable. Here she thought she was in the one place in the world where her reputation had not preceded her, yet people treated her the same as ever. Her non-dominant hand settles at her hips as she scowls. )

There's no need for all this... posturing. ( She clears her throat before returning her attention to the man's pet. )

He's... a real animal, isn't he? Not one of those peculiar ( she makes vague gestures with her hands, frustrated that she lacks the vocabulary to properly describe her displeasure with the existence of the 'Cybuddies'. ) You know, those other ones. That can be bought. And changed.

Yes, this is Pess.

[When Zwei says hello, Pess says hello right back and reverts back to cheerful mode in no time, eager to sniff and pant and yip.

New fellow dog friend!!!

Edgeworth has calmed down, at least. He's in a better mood. Dogs put him in good moods.]

A friend's house.

[Edgeworth raises his eyebrows, repeating the words in disbelief.]

What was so pressing that you had to stay for a few days?

[Don't think he lost track of time, England. He did not.]

Yes, he has. [He reaches down to pat Demo on the head. It's a robot, but it's a pretty realistic robot dog and he had gotten attached to the CYbuddy he had...BEFORE THE FLOOD DESTROYED IT. :(] And I've been seeing more pets lately. Real ones, that is.

[prosecutory]

I don't see why not.

[Edgeworth gestures to his dog. He looks a little...proud. Of course his dog is cute.]

He enjoys being petted.

[ not that it's anywhere nearby, but tadashi points his thumb backwards as he speaks. ]

Yeah, we've got our cat from home at my apartment, too.

[ then he proceeds to place his hands behind his back, relaxing and easing into the conversation. ]

It's a nice change of pace. Why don't they have real animals here, anyway?

[Well now. There's something Edgeworth never thought of either. And he remains silent for a bit as he thinks about that.]

Perhaps...they have a hidden facility with those animals. [That's the best he's got, and honestly, it's not too good.]

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth shrugs and shakes his head at Patamon.]

I doubt Takeru would.

[prosecutory]

[Oh, frabjous day! The dog leaps and heads for the stick with a will, panting along the way, with a spring in his step.

It is while Pess is gone that this guy approaches Kaneda.]

Excuse me, have you seen a dog? A large tricolor border collie, to be precise? [That's it. That's the description of the dog that won Kaneda over.]

[prosecutory]

[That tail just keeps thump-thump-thumping against the pavement and Pess half-closes his eyes in satisfaction.]

Oh, he is...but as you've seen, he's very excitable around people. Then again, I've only walked him through the gardens until today...

[In short, this is Pess' first time to be walked all throughout the colony instead of just in the gardens.]

[prosecutory]

[Alice Liddell...now there's a very familiar name. Only because Edgeworth remembers reading those books as a child.

But perhaps it's a coincidence. Or, in her world, that was a real story. He had met Sherlock Holmes and John Watson back in Death City; this didn't faze him.

So, he smiles and nods, acknowledging Alice's greeting.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Alice. I'm Miles Edgeworth.

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth nods. He knows exactly what she's talking about.]

That's correct. Others have real animals as well.

[prosecutory]

[Deal. Pess follows that tossed ball happily, catching it accurately, dutifully bringing it back to Flynn. The dog's head is held high and his tail is wagging hysterically as he goes, and drops the ball at Flynn's feet.]

[Pess has no stage fright, or shame. He doesn't even need Jaune to encourage him.

Doge lets loose with a nice spray; that cleaning robot did not know what hit it, although it starts frantically trying to clean up the spots on the ground and on itself.

Pess even looks relieved as he relieves himself. Well, as he should.]

MERLIN...

[prosecutory]

[Pess is up on his hind legs, grinning expectantly like any dog would, panting as he eagerly waits for it.

Unfortunately, he is exactly like just any dog. He jumps up, turns, sprints...he relentlessly pursues the ball as it flies and zips just out of his reach. It seems that he accepted the challenge.

While Pess is busy with the ball, leaping up and missing the ball a few inches from his snout, Edgeworth spots his dog and walks quickly toward him, only to gasp at the spectacle that greeted him: a supernaturally possessed ball and his hysterical dog who won't quit. For a moment Edgeworth watches, utterly perplexed.]

What the...?

[Magic? Someone's battery-operated futuristic toy? What was going on?]

[prosecutory]

[THAT HE DOES. THAT HE DOES. Pess nuzzles her hand when she pets him as if to say YES GOOD.

And when that stick flies, Pess zooms after it with a happy bark. He swoops down to snatch it up in his jaws and runs back to the stick thrower eagerly to deposit it at her feet again for another run.]

[ Merlin has to keep his focus on the ball to keep it moving. The dog does exactly as he hoped, sprinting around like a maniac even as he makes the ball fly under shrubbery and benches. At one point some unfortunate lady will almost be bowled over by the ball and Pess, even.

Merlin himself looks normal by now though, the spell has been cast so his eyes are normal, it's just the fact that he's so focused that gives him away, even if he is laughing at the way the dog is trying to hard to get it. ]

[Then pets he shall receive. She drops to a knee and rubs his head and scratches and all the good things you do to a dog.]

When did he arrive? He doesn't look like a cybuddy.

[ Yes. One of those people, or not people if you want to be technical about it? Either way Kousetsu gives a polite bow and in turn looks between Edgeworth and Pess. ]

Thank you for allowing me to play with...your companion. He is a very well trained dog.

[ Kousetsu approves of Pess, he's a pretty nice dog given the whole being without his master. ]
