[closed-ish] Signs of love overshadowed by dreams
Who: Everyone who signed up for speed-dating/speed-friending! (and maybe some people who just wander in?)
When: IC Date: 6/9
Where: A large booth at the CERES Academy cultural festival
What: Rise's holding a special event to help bring people together at the cultural festival! This may be chaotic
Rating/Warning: N/A thus far! Rise with a megaphone might be a warning though...
[The cultural festival at the school has been in full-on planning mode for a few weeks. Rise is no exception to the planning and included in the flyers that have gone up is a notice printed on bright pink paper and bold lettering for a very special event.
The booth itself has been set up with a small cluster of tables to accommodate for the amount of people who have been signed up and even for a few last-minute sign-ups. The tables themselves have been decorated with special candles and a tray containing two bowls, two spoons, and a a tray with all the ingredients needed for an ice cream sundae.
At the front of the booth is a collection of heart-shaped name tags with all of the names of each individual whose signed up, along with a number attached. Rise will smile at each person, handing both the name tag and a small envelope to them with instructions not to open it until she says so.
It’s only when everyone has arrived and is crowded inside the booth that she pulls out a megaphone (and really, who gave her that?) and she turns it on.]
Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Cerealia School Speed-Matching event! Meeting people can be really hard here, but don’t worry, we’re making it easy! You’ll see that the tables all have numbers assigned to them. On my count, open your envelopes and see who you’re starting with. When the bell rings, switch partners! Seems pretty simple, huh?
[Nobody gets to get a say in this apparently, but they may see one Yu Narukami who’s sitting on the table behind Rise just watching everyone casual as can be. Why is he wearing glasses? Who knows.]
Okie dokie! Let’s get this show on the road! On your mark…get set…open!
[Hope you’re ready, colonists. Inside each envelope is a starter number for the first match, and also a list of starter questions for asking people about themselves. Some people have lists corresponding with the speed dating route, while others are for the “friends only” route. But wait…what’s that? Some of those lists are crosswired? Your character would try to mingle with everybody and flirt anyway? Well hey. At least people will be talking and mingling.
Oh, and don’t mind the people who may wander in and out of the event. Rise will try to moderator the event to her best ability but hey, she’s pretty social herself. Some people are bound to slip in and out under her watch. Have fun! And remember, beware of the bell! (Or Rise announcing "SWITCH" in a loud voice via megaphone, same thing.)]
[ooc: Hello everyone, welcome to the speed-friending/dating event! Thank you to everyone who signed up; above you’ll see a list of people and numbers for you to pick from! Pick your number and your friend/date by visiting the number generator to randomly pick a number to match your character with! Feel free to post top-levels inviting others to just tag in or tag around, too, without using the RNG. Any questions, please hit me via PM or on plurk at

Angelo
Hello there, the name's Angelo. I'd say you're quite lucky to be meeting me as I am one of the most attractive men here. Nevertheless, are you enjoying yourself at the festival? I do believe it's quite enjoyable myself and the food is amazing.
no subject
He also feels incredibly underdressed, but that can't be helped. ]
Ah, um... hello, I'm Atsushi...? [ His conviction is staggering, huh. ] I haven't gotten a chance to eat anything here yet, actually...
[ Trailing off a bit lamely here, before he pulls it together and tries to make conversation!! ] Maybe you can tell me what you'd recommend for me to get, Angelo-san?
no subject
First off, drop the san. It's Angelo. Secondly, it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Atsushi. Thirdly, I'd recommend the grilled shish kabobs.
no subject
Except he can totally appreciate how disappointing this must be for Angelo, so Atsushi can't even be too miffed. The cloud of gloom hangs heavy over his head, though, reach for it and you might be able to tear off a chunk. ]
W, well. I guess that works. [ He suddenly feels very warm... is it hot in here, or is it just him?? ] Thank you... and maybe I should ask a question?
no subject
Go ahead, ask away.
no subject
[ Atsushi frowns down at the card, despite the fact that he's the one that chose it. ]
no subject
That depends on the trick. What type would you like to see?
no subject
Big eyes widening even more in curiosity, he sits up a little straighter. ]
Ah— so you have more than one...? What kind of tricks are they? Magic...?
no subject
Magic and card tricks, take your pick.
no subject
[ Here he is, leaning forward in his seat a bit. Maybe a bit overeager, but he's earnest about it, at the very least. ]
no subject
[He holds out one of his hands as if he's holding something in said hand. Then after a moment of focus for casting, a sphere of pure wind appears in his hand.]
Pretty impressive, wouldn't you say?
no subject
His eyes go wide and he pulls hack from Angelo's hand, just in case being too close to that sphere is dangerous. ]
Wh, whoa...! That's amazing, is your Ability the power to control wind...? [ At the very least, he's speaking as if he knows what these sorts of things entail. ]
no subject
No, my magic isn't entirely wind based. I can cast other types of spells, both offensive and defensive.

Someone is humble today.
[What did Kaz call him last time? Angelmon?]
no subject
It's called putting my best foot forward and impressing.
no subject
Really? Here I thought it was just false advertising.
no subject
It's never false advertising with me, I'm one hundred percent all natural.

[And because she has nothing better to do, she takes a seat, crossing her legs and leaning back.]
So why does someone so "natural" have to resort to speed-friending of all things? [Don't ask her why she's here please]
no subject
[He looks utterly devastated, but not really. He's more bored than anything else.]
no subject
[She shrugs, a challenge in her eyes as she looks at him.]
-maybe you should have tried online dating instead. Besides, it's not like you're a good catch either, whether as a date or as a friend.
no subject
Says the snide prude. Stop trying to act mature and adult, it doesn't suit you.
