[closed-ish] Signs of love overshadowed by dreams

Who: Everyone who signed up for speed-dating/speed-friending! (and maybe some people who just wander in?)
When: IC Date: 6/9
Where: A large booth at the CERES Academy cultural festival
What: Rise's holding a special event to help bring people together at the cultural festival! This may be chaotic
Rating/Warning: N/A thus far! Rise with a megaphone might be a warning though...

[The cultural festival at the school has been in full-on planning mode for a few weeks. Rise is no exception to the planning and included in the flyers that have gone up is a notice printed on bright pink paper and bold lettering for a very special event.

The booth itself has been set up with a small cluster of tables to accommodate for the amount of people who have been signed up and even for a few last-minute sign-ups. The tables themselves have been decorated with special candles and a tray containing two bowls, two spoons, and a a tray with all the ingredients needed for an ice cream sundae.

At the front of the booth is a collection of heart-shaped name tags with all of the names of each individual whose signed up, along with a number attached. Rise will smile at each person, handing both the name tag and a small envelope to them with instructions not to open it until she says so.

It’s only when everyone has arrived and is crowded inside the booth that she pulls out a megaphone (and really, who gave her that?) and she turns it on.]

Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Cerealia School Speed-Matching event! Meeting people can be really hard here, but don’t worry, we’re making it easy! You’ll see that the tables all have numbers assigned to them. On my count, open your envelopes and see who you’re starting with. When the bell rings, switch partners! Seems pretty simple, huh?

[Nobody gets to get a say in this apparently, but they may see one Yu Narukami who’s sitting on the table behind Rise just watching everyone casual as can be. Why is he wearing glasses? Who knows.]

Okie dokie! Let’s get this show on the road! On your mark…get set…open!

[Hope you’re ready, colonists. Inside each envelope is a starter number for the first match, and also a list of starter questions for asking people about themselves. Some people have lists corresponding with the speed dating route, while others are for the “friends only” route. But wait…what’s that? Some of those lists are crosswired? Your character would try to mingle with everybody and flirt anyway? Well hey. At least people will be talking and mingling.

Oh, and don’t mind the people who may wander in and out of the event. Rise will try to moderator the event to her best ability but hey, she’s pretty social herself. Some people are bound to slip in and out under her watch. Have fun! And remember, beware of the bell! (Or Rise announcing "SWITCH" in a loud voice via megaphone, same thing.)]

[This is Weiss. Monster hunter in training and heiress to one of the richest companies in her world. She's a concert pianist and singer, has practiced ballet, figure skating, and fencing, all while maintaining one of the highest grade point averages in her class. She's a genius, an athlete, and a fashionista.

And she very much does not want to be here.

This is what happens when your friends sign you up for Speed Dating behind your back. She's not sure why she even agreed to come. So she'll sit at her table with her arms crossed and not even pretend she's interested in you.

[despite the fact that this activity is very strange to her, it's a bit exciting as well. she's only signed up for the version designed to make friends, of course, but she still looks forward to speaking with people she hasn't had the opportunity to meet. the list of questions especially takes her interest; she likes to meet new people, of course, and learning more about them is one of the best parts.

Hello! How are you?

[Well, Rei and Minako are currently both pretty busy with their whole fortune telling thing. And while Usagi is here to try help them out, it's inevitable at some point that they shoo her off to enjoy herself as well while she is here at the festival.

So she does. Initially enamored with the crowds and wondering what was going on, seeing the candles, the tables and....is that ice cream?! Of course she is probably just attempting to get in on this for the food and to potentially make friends. But that doesn't mean she can't enjoy this and have fun anyway. Can still appreciate everyone's presence even if Mamoru isn't here with her. In any case, she does seem to be enjoying herself.....er, the ice cream, anyway, as she does happily chat with whoever might end up joining her at this particular table.]

[Rock Lee is in attendance, ready to take on the challenge of the speed dates. For some reason, he is still dressed in a sumo outfit, and rather than sitting he seems to be trying to do some stretches by his table, as he awaits his first partner.

His eyes sharply glance up at whoever approaches.]

[ adrien's entirely hyped for this of course since. speed friending, trying out absolutely everything, and sure he's a little bit shy about meeting new people in a rush he's... also gotten better at this since finally being able to get out of his Basically House Arrest situation.

again. this means he has to try everything and try to meet as many people as he can. since people here are almost always amazing.

[ While some might have gone the more natural way of learning about the place via their own personal snooping, Giorno decided to take an "easy" way out and signed up for this—speed-friending-dating. He isn't sure how it exactly works (though the questions do help&mdash) but it was a good way to canvas a bunch of people quickly.

Or at least meet a bunch of faces and get to know a lot of people if nothing else. He'll greet his "friend dates" with a slight hint of a smile, a slight bow, and help them into their seat if they haven't sat down yet. First impressions are key, after all. ]

[How did William get signed up for this? He doesn't know and he would have refused to go, period, not caring if that skewed their numbers. The very suggestion implicit in signing him up for such a thing is utterly insulting. He doesn't need friends! He already has plenty! And could easily get more if he so choose.

But well, he was slightly curious at the same time and is now staying because of the possibility of ice cream. So he's going to try and tolerate this with an open mind. As much as is possible for him.]

[For Angelo, this was a piece of cake. He's mingled many a time with people for either public or private sermons among other reasons. He even admired the atmosphere, though he could go for something a bit enticing but he'll deal. Whoever approaches his booth will see him dressed very nicely while sitting there with his legs crossed quite properly. He's turning up his charisma for this too.]

Hello there, the name's Angelo. I'd say you're quite lucky to be meeting me as I am one of the most attractive men here. Nevertheless, are you enjoying yourself at the festival? I do believe it's quite enjoyable myself and the food is amazing.

[Freddie feels a bit ridiculous for signing up for this, but he did want to meet more people around here, even if just as friends. Not that a girlfriend wouldn't be nice, there's just... a lot of guys here. Sheesh. Oh well.

This was better than any idea CERES had for dating, at least. He probably wasn't going to die here, so that was nice. Not that he knew what speed dating was until he got in here.

Always the outgoing optimistic nerd instead of the shy backwards kind, Freddie has no problem approaching anyone, girls his age especially. Anyone person's table he stops at will get a cheerful smile in greeting.]

[Mingling and befriending people was as easy as breathing for Hiro. There was no complaints on flirting on his end either. He's not sure how he got signed up for this, but whatever. He'd hunt down the perp behind this later on. With a rather confident and charismatic smile on his face, he greets the newcomer. If it's a cute girl, then extra bonus points.

And besides making a new friend... He could also get ice cream. So that was icing the awesome cake for him.]

Didn't you know? When our befriending speed hits 88 miles per hour... We're gonna see some serious shit.

[It probably would come as a shock to anyone that really knew him, but Jinga decided to dress a little normally for this occasion, which meant that the usual all black clothing with the weird corset was exchanged for a much more modern suit ~~just ignore the golden knight idiot he's leaning against~~. He also had a glowy blue butterfly that was following him around, perching on his head or making chiming noises while trying to land on the flowers or hovering over the sweets. Jinga himself seems to be in a humorous mood, chuckling to himself or making slightly odd comments. He also seems to be watching a certain someone, but that might be just a trick of the light or something.

He lounges in his chair, long legs crossed and long fingers idly stroking the glass of tea he poured himself. If a man takes a seat across from him, he holds his hand out for a shake but if a woman takes a seat, he stands up and bows.]

So, what shall we talk about?

[Archer is rude and definitely trying to scare people from coming his way. Mostly by taking the posture of resting his feet on the table itself.

Truly a magnificent way to seem open, friendly, and happy.]

[In Ryuuga's case, he considered this an opportunity to get to know more people outside his element. Plus he enjoys being around people for the most part, so this was definitely a very welcome change of pace.

He also enjoys free food.

There's no way this can't end horribly.

He's dressed in civvies for once, and he at least looks attentive to whoever's paired with him, though there's moments when it looks like he's keeping an eye on someone else for a split second before he's immediately back to form.]

How're you holding up?

[ Meeting new people is always a good thing, Nyuu firmly believes that, but when they call it "dating," she can't help being a bit more nervous than when she thought it was just having a friendly sit-down with people. But! She won't be deterred, and when someone does come to sit down, she's cheerily smiling at them. ]

[ Atsushi is... very nervous, to say the least. He doesn't remember signing up for this, and he doesn't really know what these sorts of things even entail, but.... he might as well, right? There's no knowing what'll happen if he doesn't try.

When Adelina offers her hand, he tenses up for just a moment before offering his in return, giving a firm shake as he sits down and fumbles with the cards in front of him. ]

[ Sitting at his table and waiting for people to come to him is an exercise in unending tension, so Atsushi's somewhat glad to be away from that for a bit; it's a lot of work, talking to people he doesn't know.

That aside, the ice cream table is... overwhelming. He's never even heard of some of these flavors before, which prompts him to laugh quietly under his breath and mutter: ]

He'll occupy himself with the ice cream set before them. It would be pretty much a shame to let it go to waste while this was happening.

Though...waiting for the time to be called is kind of...boring. Giorno's not the most sociable person but at least he should try. So he'll fiddle with his envelope between bites of ice cream to see if at least the question he was given would be a good ice breaker:
