Who: Will Solace
sunbaths & You!
When: Various
Where: The local park/gardens.
What: Will has taken up his job as a performing artist in the park. He's playing his guitar to people and singing. He totally takes requests- if he knows them, anyway.
Rating/Warning: None atm.
(Will has never actually performed for anyone but his friends before. Singing at the camp was a lot different than what he was about to do but he wasn't too nervous. When he arrives at the park is the only time he gets a little bit wary. There's a lot of faces he doesn't know and for the most part, demigods really shouldn't draw too much attention to themselves. He was still adjusting to the fact that technology was now a thing that could be apart of his life without taking his life apart. This wasn't home though and that meant he could relax a bit.
The kid didn't even bother dressing up in anything fancy for performing. A pair of ripped up jeans that have absolutely seen better days, some flipflops, and a tank top he found for cheap at one of the local stores that declares SUN'S OUT, GUNS OUT with a small cartoon sun flexing his muscles. The guitar he has with him is actually from home and looks well-worn and loved with a multicolored strap. He picks a spot off in front of some flowers and sits himself down. He forgets about the whole money thing because seriously, he sucks at this, and just kind of starts playing.
He mostly plays cover songs on his acoustic guitar. Every now and then, he'll even sing in a smooth, swaying voice to give some of the songs their lyrics instead of just going purely instrumental. And of course, he'll take a break occasionally. And hey, who knows, he might even take requests!
Potential Songs Your Character Might Hear:
Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
Pompeii
Blank Space
See You Again
Photograph
Call Me Maybe
Dark Horse
Fireflies
Yesterday
Elastic Heart
Here Comes the Sun
& More!
OOC | Since Will's a book character, there's no canon for his voice but I usually go with this guy but feel free to headcanon whatever kind of singing he might do.

(And now suddenly Will's the one blushing a little bit, looking away from Nico a bit pointedly.)

(He clears his throat awkwardly and has to stare up at the ceiling for three solid seconds.)
I don't think you'd like uh. Dancing- to...that. Never mind! Anyway, it's just music I made myself. It's nothing fancy just instrumental stuff.

(Since his arrival, he hadn't had much else to do. There really wasn't any reason for him to feel embarrassed but this was Nico. That changed things up a bit.
After a moment though, he goes about getting his music set up. He sets it at a nice, subtle volume and it's just a slow guitar piece. There's a dozen more like it, all differing in emotion. This one felt like a calm sort of happy.)
I have quicker stuff too if that works better.

He listens for a good minute before he asks hesitantly:] Can I... have a copy? Of anything you'd be okay with sharing. It sounds good.

When Nico speaks, Will starts a bit, not expecting the other boy to say much of anything. And what he winds up saying? Surprise is plain as day on Will's face.)
Really? (He's already nodding.) Yeah. Yeah that'd be fine. I don't mind. Music's meant for listening to, after all. It'd be cool if I could find more instruments but I'm glad I've at least got my guitar.

[There's another moment of silence before he asks with a little more awkwardness:] Did you... still want to... uhm... [He makes a little random circle motion with his hand, as if that explains everything.]
no subject
(Which was basically his default means of existing.
What's more surprising is that Nico actually brings up dancing again. Will stares at him for a couple of seconds. Nico could have easily gotten out of it just now, right? The mood and all would have made it a no brainer. But...He didn't.)
Yeah, yes. Definitely (Will says this probably a little too loudly but if he cares, he doesn't show it.) Did you want to?
Er- do you want to? Dance? With me?

Jason's words suddenly pop into his head, thinking about when the son of Jupiter told him he was so afraid of rejection, he didn't even try. Will didn't reject him before, even after they'd talked, so he's not too overly worried about that. He told Will they'd just see where this thing went. How is it supposed to go anywhere if he doesn't even let it? It's inwardly terrifying to allow that to happen, but... if he's honest... he does want it to keep on going somewhere that's good.
That decided, he sets the cup off to the side, giving a very small and short nod.] Alright.

Something relaxes inside of him and makes a significant change in..well..everything. He takes in a slow, deep breath and gives an affirming nod.)
Awesome.
(And it was awesome. So incredibly awesome. He steps up to Nico, looking down at the other boy. This was a whole different kind of touching. The palms of his hands tingled pleasantly before they even began touching Nico and he didn't really know where to put them. Either on Nico's waist or take his hand and relax the other on a hip. Finally, Will just smiles at Nico.)
Y'know what, I'm gonna not embarrass myself and subject you to sway-dancing.
(And with that, Will places his hands on the warm dip of Nico's back and sure he could have awkwardly placed them just on top of Nico's hips and held the other boy out at a strained distance but whatever. He didn't want to keep his distance if his distance didn't need to be fully kept. His thumbs slide up, feeling Nico and the kid's cold all the way through but beneath Will's naturally warm palms, it feels nice. He brings himself close, but not too close.)
This satisfying, di Angelo or should we mix it up to something fancier?
no subject
Hopefully that's a good thing.
Before he can say anything about it though, Will is stepping in close. Really close. Really really close and Nico's face goes even more red, his brain just about short circuiting. He didn't imagine Will would stand that close, and for a moment, the only words he can stammer out are:] Uhm... Uhm... Uh...
[Okay, Nico, think, think.] Th-this is f-fine... [Gods, he's going to fall over from how flustered he is right now.] H-here... [He was figuring they'd just put their hands on each other's shoulders, but now that Will's had one against the small of his back, it seems like too much of a step back. So he adjusts Will's hands, putting one at his hip while holding the other one out in somewhat of a waltz pose. He takes in a slow breath to steady himself before putting his own on Will's hip. He presses his palm of the one not at Will's hip against the other demigod's then slots their fingers together. Satisfied, he gives a short nod.] There.
no subject
Oooh, okay. That makes sense.
(His confidence keeps him from blushing, him from stammering, but his glow remains. With their fingers threaded together, he gives a small squeeze. Then he began to move. His hips swayed from side to side but he began the basic steps of a standard slow dance. One step forward, one step back, and pivot. He kept it slow because like he had said, he wasn't used to any sort of fancy dancing.)
See? This isn't so bad.

Gods, you really are dense. You don't seriously think I'd want you dancing with other people, do you? Or having other people tease you. That's kind of the point of all of this, you know. I'm the one whose allowed to tease you and I'm the one whose allowed to dance with you- at least like this. This is totally our little secret.
no subject
[That said though, his expression softens, as does his tone, dropping the bite to it that had been there for a moment, even though he continues frowning.] I know what you meant, but... [He shakes his head a little and gives a little sigh, more exasperation than annoyance there now, then moves back into regular conversation.] Good. The only other person I can think of that I'd willing consider dancing with is my sister. ... Definitely not like this though. [The last part his murmured more quietly, his blush making a comeback. And just so Will doesn't think he's mad at him about teasing him...] I don't... mind the teasing most of the time, from you. Not that much. Sometimes it gets annoying, but... I'm not, you know... really upset about it.
[He hopes Will doesn't react negatively to what he said, because he doesn't want to go back to his apartment with Will upset at him. ... It sparks a realization in him though, about how much he trusts the other demigod. Normally, he'd just glare and push the person away, keep his thoughts to himself and leave, because Nico di Angelo does not often talk about his emotions openly. But because Will's been persistent and determined to be his friend, hasn't shown any sort of discrimination towards him that others have, he feels comfortable enough with Will to say when he's said something that's seriously bothered him, trusting (or at least hoping) that Will won't push him away for it.
Aaaand he's gone back to staring at the floor in embarrassment at being flustered again.]

His eyes cut away from Nico entirely and part of him wants to pull away still. It didn't feel so great dancing with Nico anymore and this really, really wasn't how he had pictured their first dance going. His hand shifts around to settle a bit more appropriately on Nico's hip and he clears his throat, feeling a bit of a lump there.)
I'm sorry. I keep making myself seem like such a jerk around you. And you're not even in the wrong- I'm saying a lot of dumb stuff. You are the person who gets to decide who does what to or with you. I'm. I'm sorry I implied otherwise.
(Because that gave him a wholly unpleasant feeling. Even if Nico said he knew Will hadn't meant it, some small part of Nico must have felt it a threat if he snapped like that.
He falls quiet after that, dancing with Nico silently.)
no subject
Will. [He says the name with light fondness.] Believe me when I say, you are one of very few people - so few I can easily count them on one hand - that hasn't been a jerk to me. You don't... You don't treat me like I'm... some sort of freak, you never have, and I appreciate that very much. [And because Will did apologize, he adds:] It's fine, apology accepted.
[He's not sorry for calling Will out on something that seriously bothered him, but he is sorry for the way Will looks now. Nico can feel him shift his hand, reining himself back a bit, and it feels like there's a bigger space between them now.
And that's when another realization hits him. He doesn't want that. He doesn't want space between them, figurative or literal. He wants this, whatever it is. He doesn't want 'let's just see where this goes' anymore, he wants it for sure to go somewhere good now. Whatever it is, it's new and fragile and just starting out; Nico isn't ready for anything big yet, still wants to get to know Will better, to become good, solid friends first before anything else happens, but now he knows for sure he wants to get to the point that happens after they've become good, solid friends. He wants it, so he decides to take the risk of not standing idly by and fighting for it instead.
It might seem like nothing, just a simple move to someone else, but for Nico, someone who is very picky about physical contact, it's huge. He takes a step closer to Will, biting his lip a bit nervously but no less determined, taking the hand on his hip that Will moved to be more appropriate and guides it back to where Will had originally placed it at the small of his back. Then he closes his eyes and leans his head in even closer, moving slowly so he doesn't bonk their heads together. It's not a kiss - he's not ready for something that big yet - but he does rest his forehead against Will's in an intimate gesture, still keeping his eyes closed for the moment and waiting to see how Will will react.]

(He mumbles the words, still feeling disquieted by the entire thing. His eyes are melancholic and he's listening for the end of the song.
Or at least he is until Nico moves his hand. Will already knew what he wanted at the end of this. He likes to think he has made it clear enough but it isn't until Nico has relocated his hand back to its original position that Will understands Nico is a far more complex person than just the ideal Will had built up in his head. That there was all of this depth to explore and instead of feeling put out about not knowing, Will was suddenly so encouraged to figure out all of it. He wanted to know Nico better, much better, because if they did ever get to...to whatever, Will wanted to be good to Nico. He wanted to be good for Nico.
It's not until Nico's forehead touches his own and the boy slips into his personal space in ways Will had only ever dreamed of that Will realizes that the feelings are- to some extent- mutual. That maybe he'd fumbled and been a bit of an idiot but he hadn't done any severe damage. Maybe he doesn't know Nico all that well but he does know him plenty well enough to know that Nico would never just do this with anyone. He's pretty sure anyone at camp who barely knew Nico at all would be able to figure this one out.
The guilt seeps away. It's not forgotten, the lesson ingrained, but his shoulders relax and there's a warmth starting to grow in his chest once more. He shifts his body closer to Nico's and they're not quite dancing anymore but swaying instead. They weren't ready to kiss, no, definitely not, but this...This was nicer than he had anticipated.)
Can I reiterate what I said earlier? (His voice is soft, private. He clears his throat, not waiting for Nico.)
I want to be the only person you want to dance with like this. And I want to be the only person you don't mind teasing you. I won't tell people about this because I don't like the idea of other people teasing you because they might be teasing you how I tease you or worse- to be mean. I um. I don't want this to be made into a joke by anyone cause it isn't a joke to me.

But it really wasn't time for that. He knew that Nico wasn't ready and despite how much he wanted it, he knew that he wasn't ready either. There was a lot more to understand about this boy.
Still. Will was only human. He lifts his hand briefly off of Nico's back to place it lightly but firmly against the back of Nico's head so that he could guide Nico's head down to rest against his shoulder.)
Sorry, uh. (His hand settles back into the small of Nico's back and he grins a bit stupidly.) You're really, really distracting that close. I don't want to be an idiot.
