Who: Kakyoin & OPEN!
When: IC 7/19 - 7/23 (event time)
Where: School, park, marketplace, apartments.
What: Ayyy it's the event bandwagon.
Rating/Warning: Probably some talk of violence, whoops.
A. all that's missing is toast in mouth
[ he feels like he's losing his mind.
he's so sure he's seeing familiar faces -- faces of people that he knows aren't here, faces that he misses dearly -- but the moment he tries to chase them down, they vanish. the first time, he dismisses it as a trick his eyes are playing on him. so the second time, he ignores it. but as it happens a third, a fourth time, it grows harder and harder to pretend nothing's happening.
as he's making his way through the school's hallways, kakyoin's footsteps are steady and clipped. but they stop abruptly when he spots a flicker of movement out of the corner of his eyes -- the trailing length of a long, black coat, or the shape of a built figure in a conspicuous hat -- and this time, he chases after it without thinking.
if someone's playing tricks on him, he's determined to hunt them down, and he sprints full-tilt down the hallway towards where he's so sure he saw that familiar figure, rounding the corner without losing any speed.
so it'll probably be a pretty hard impact if he runs into anyone! ]
B. don't mind the mess
[ so when brute-force sprinting after those hallucinations proves to be fruitless, kakyoin goes for a different tactic.
around the school campus or the park, kakyoin can be found quietly standing in a clearing, staring very intensely at nothing in particular.
maybe it'd be best to ignore the weirdo staring at the trees? or you could talk to him and see what's so interesting about that patch of grass over there?
but people with any sort of supernatural or spiritual ability will be able to see that kakyoin's not just staring at the ground. all around him, strange, green tendrils spread out like a cobweb, covering the ground around him in a fifty, sixty-meter radius. the tendrils shift against the ground, translucent and glowing faintly, and touch lightly at the shoes of anyone who wanders too close to them. linger too long, and they might gently loop around your ankle.
so, yeah. feel free to call him out on that creepy little detail. ]
C. no context theater time
[ he eventually gives up on trying to chase those hallucinations but that still leaves him with the matter of the weird, injured dove that's been following him around. it's a little distressing, being followed by such a battered-looking animal, but he hadn't been able to pick it up or carry it, and helping it out in any way didn't seem possible.
which means he just has to let it totter after him while he tries to go about his daily life.
periodically, he stops and sits down somewhere to let the bird catch up to him. and when he thinks no one's looking, he sometimes makes another attempt to pick it up, even if he knows it probably won't work -- quickly though, so no one can see him trying to pick up a handful of empty air. (he can totally be seen making this embarrassing attempt.)
kakyoin can be found around the school, park, marketplace and apartments, and anyone unfortunate enough to walk near him -- deliberately or not -- will probably end up bumping into the sad, injured spirit-dove hobbling after him. whoops.
C1. please choose this option to get a bizarre memory! it might still be kinda violent and/or horrific, but it'll come with little context and probably be kind of strange. please feel free to request anything specific from his canon, but otherwise these will be chosen randomly!
C2. please choose this option to get a more distressing and/or serious memory! may or may not be violent, may or may not be sad. it's a mystery! please feel free to request anything specific from his canon, but otherwise these will be chosen randomly!
D. wild card

YEEHAW TIME TO CONFUSE THEIR TIMELINES SOME MORE
Ah, Johnny. Good afternoon.
[ there's still something just the slightest bit awkward about the way he says the name, like it's not exactly the name he wants to say, but he does greet johnny with a polite nod.
and though his gaze flickers conspicuously towards that dove hobbling around, he lets his guard down once he sees johnny's wheelchair narrowly avoid bumping into it.
and that's when johnny touches it. whoops.
-- there's the dry scrape of loafers on loose dirt as kakyoin sprints down the street. on either side are market stalls and curious onlookers, quiet mutters in a language that he doesn't understand. and in the distance, the sounds of shouting. kakyoin quickens the pace, his shoes almost slipping on the dusty ground as he rounds a corner, and his movements immediately come to a halt.
avdol's there, staring down a man dressed like a cowboy. but kakyoin's focus isn't on avdol, or on the cowboy. it's on a puddle on the ground, where avdol's back is reflected in the murky water -- avdol's back, and a sinister, bandaged figure.
there's no time to react before the bandaged figure in the reflection simply stabs avdol between the shoulderblades.
avdol's back suddenly explodes with blood, cut open by that intangible blade. then there's a blur of movement, that lightning-fast gleam of a bullet cutting through the air and striking avdol on the forehead.
as kakyoin stumbles forward, avdol topples to the ground, blood pouring from that wound in his head. ]
MY FAVORITE~
The memory was sudden and invasive and Johnny could see and smell and hear the buzz of the foreign city as they raced down the street. Nothing was familiar, nothing made sense and Johnny felt dizzy with the sensory overload. There were men in the distance, someone in a cowboy hat and another in long robes, but he wasn't looking at them, he was looking at a puddle.
A moving puddle. Or rather- there was something in the reflection that wasn't there in the real world and Johnny flinched as the creature within struck, only to find that the man he'd attacked in the reflection was actually bleeding here as well.
It's a Stand, he's sure of it. Nothing else could move like that, could have such a strange ability. But before it can register, a shot rings out and strikes the same man in the head. A gruesome end perhaps, but no more than others he's seen on this journey.
But as he nears the body, there's a glimmer of recognition. That's- It's Avdol, isn't it? The man who'd entered the race on camel-back, one of the first to fall out of the race after a nasty Gyro-related run-in with some cacti, but... was this truly how he'd met his end? And if so, how had he gotten so far from the race, to this foreign country so quickly? It had to be something from the future, some time down the line where Kakyoin was from... maybe? If it was even real at all.]
Was that-... no, what the hell was that?
no subject
even if avdol hadn't died in india, that moment -- holding avdol's still body, seeing the glistening blood that poured from his forehead wound, tracing vivid lines down his face -- was still incredibly unsettling to relive. after all, at the time, he'd been quite convinced that avdol really had been killed. the thought of losing a companion in an instant, of being unable to do anything for him, is still enough to send an uncomfortable twinge through his chest, and kakyoin swallows thickly to quell the cold anxiety rising in his throat.
avdol isn't dead, he reminds himself. avdol is still well, still as reliable as always, and is back in egypt with the others. it's still just a matter of getting back there, no matter what it takes. ]
Aah, something seems to be happening lately. I -- something's been following me. Some sort of bird, that I think only I can see. And when people touch it, I ... end up having a strange flashback. I think other people also see it.
[ he's frankly pretty glad to already be seated, and kakyoin slumps forward a bit in his seat, bracing his elbows on his knees as he rubs his fingertips at his temples to quell a headache. ]
You -- saw something, didn't you?
no subject
Yeah?
[Whatever it was, it seems to have pained the young man and Johnny studies him for a moment, mulling the thoughts over in his mind. The Avdol in Kakyoin's memory couldn't have been that much older than when he'd seen him in the race though. A relative maybe? Brother? How common was that name in his home country? Johnny hadn't a clue.]
I think we got some things to settle up. There something you haven't told me? Cuz that sure as hell looked like Avdol and I know he got injured pretty good in the race, but he was still alive last I saw him. And there's no way he'd get all the way back home in a couple a' weeks by boat.
So I figure- you're from a different time, yeah?
[Leon and a few others had been from the future already. Johnny was already starting to fill in the blanks.]
Shit- that's why you know that Joestar, Joseph, right? The one I didn't know. He's from later on, yeah?
[A flicker of excitement lit his features. Was Joseph one of his kids maybe? Unless his father decided to start over, after screwing up two sons, well, who knew? Maybe he was jumping to conclusions, but it that was true...]
Hey, do you know what happens to me? Who wins the race, do you know?
