Who: Raven (
fishyoldman) & you!
When: 8/2
Where Entertainment District
What: Thanks to the city-wide effects this month, Raven isn't doing so well.
Rating/Warning: G for giant walking spoilers.
[It started at work: a feeling of being more tired than usual, of getting worn out when the day was only half over, a vague ache in Raven's chest. They're all things Raven's used to by now, because that's just how his body is. He doesn't complain about being old for nothing, because more often than not, he feels it. ...Not that it stops him getting by, so as with a lot of things with Raven, his complaints are exaggerated half-truths at best.
Today's a little different, though. As well as that unusual tiredness, on his way home through the Entertainment District he's hit by a sudden shortness of breath, and a sharp ache that tells him his heart isn't working like it should. He stops to brace himself against the nearest wall, clutching his chest until he stops feeling so breathless.]
C'mon, stupid body. Let's move it...
[Raven mutters it under his breath, urging himself to move before he makes a scene. He does debate whether he should call Rideaux, but it's not an emergency, right? And pestering the guy involves more energy than he really has right now. So it seems like he's stuck here, at least until he feels up for moving again.]

[He looks away gravely. Even with that whole beach incident when he first got here, he'd hoped he would be able to sweep that whole thing under the carpet. After all, they've all had much bigger worries on their minds.
Seems like he's really just having crummy luck here.]
I lost the original a long time ago. I don't really have a choice but to get by with it.

I see. Strange as it is, it's doing you a great service...and now I see why you said the doctors here can't help.
But, Raven? I want you to promise me that you'll ask for help if it gives you problems. I can't do much, but I do have some healing spells that might make it a little easier for you.
no subject
It's not an injury, so there isn't much to be done with healing magic. But I appreciate the thought.
[Plus, he just really hates making promises he can't keep. They always come back to bite him later.]

[Even if it was just a little-- but a little was a all that was needed for his breathing to seem somewhat steadier.]
Do you at least have others here who know about it, in case there's trouble?

[And then there's that Rideaux guy he paid off to help him out, though Raven's still making up his mind whether that guy's dependable or not, so he doesn't exactly get a mention.]

[She smiled now, feeling relieved with that sort of news.]
He's a nice person, I can tell. And now I know who to call if I ever find you stuck in some dark alley because something stopped working!
no subject
[Except everything about him screams shady, but you know.]
no subject
[Right down to the distinct fashion and the tendency to compliment her for reasons that she just didn't understand.]
You're a little nicer than him, but a Shady Alley Person is still a Shady Alley Person.

[His feelings are so hurt! On top of the other things hurting.]
no subject
[She held onto his arm tightly, just in case.]
And that wasn't a bad thing. A Shady Alley Person can still be a Good Person! Shady Alleys don't make a person good or bad!
no subject
[Except not really. Though he's just teasing her, so he'll just pat her hand awkwardly where she's clinging onto him. There there?]
But seriously... I should make tracks while I'm feelin' better. I'd appreciate it if ya didn't spread what I told ya around, okay?
no subject
Don't worry-- I don't tell anyone. Just..be careful, okay? You're sure you can make it on your own?

[He can't predict whether his heart will hold up at the best of times, much less now when he doesn't know what's causing this particular problem. But likewise, he won't cause a fuss over something that's a pretty normal occurrence to him.]
