Who: Raven (
fishyoldman) & you!
When: 8/2
Where Entertainment District
What: Thanks to the city-wide effects this month, Raven isn't doing so well.
Rating/Warning: G for giant walking spoilers.
[It started at work: a feeling of being more tired than usual, of getting worn out when the day was only half over, a vague ache in Raven's chest. They're all things Raven's used to by now, because that's just how his body is. He doesn't complain about being old for nothing, because more often than not, he feels it. ...Not that it stops him getting by, so as with a lot of things with Raven, his complaints are exaggerated half-truths at best.
Today's a little different, though. As well as that unusual tiredness, on his way home through the Entertainment District he's hit by a sudden shortness of breath, and a sharp ache that tells him his heart isn't working like it should. He stops to brace himself against the nearest wall, clutching his chest until he stops feeling so breathless.]
C'mon, stupid body. Let's move it...
[Raven mutters it under his breath, urging himself to move before he makes a scene. He does debate whether he should call Rideaux, but it's not an emergency, right? And pestering the guy involves more energy than he really has right now. So it seems like he's stuck here, at least until he feels up for moving again.]

which it does.
kind of.
except that instead of a voice call, it's a video call, and there are various emoji popping up on the screen intermittently. why? who knows. yuri doesn't even catch it immediately because he's not actually looking at the screen while he talks.]
Yo, old man. You busy tonight?
no subject
Rude. But today has just been a day for weirdness in general.]
Hey Yuri. Something kind of came up... [He's successful at getting the voice option up, unlike Yuri, but for all his attempts to hide his current state, he can't fully keep how tired he is out of his voice.] You need me for somethin'?
no subject
[leave it to yuri to tell it like it is, right?] I was gonna ask if you wanted to eat at our place tonight, but the way you're sounding, I'm thinking you might not make that long before keeling over.
["what's wrong?" is what would come up in the auto-translator if there was an option for yuri.]
no subject
[Chew him out about not dying when there isn't a thumbs up emote flashing on and off over your face, Yuri. He also might be conveniently changing the subject.]
no subject
[but mostly:] Stop trying to change the subject, old man.
no subject
[It wasn't exactly the smoothest of dodges, so he'll concede this one.]
My heart's been a little off the past couple of days. Nothin' serious, but it ain't normal, either.

[yuri's capable of putting two and two together; cerealia's taught him a lot.]

[It's probably just a coincidence, right? There's no aer imbalances around here that could cause machinery to freak out in the same way blastia are prone to back home. In fact, no one he's spoken to even seems to have heard of aer.
But then, there's a lot he still doesn't understand about technology here, and Yuri's been here a lot longer than he has, so--]
What're ya thinking, Yuri?
no subject
[he's not ruling anything out, but with all the tech on the fritz, that usually means it's one of those two things. what could be messing with CERES? who knows. the deities, maybe. probably not the flamines. the ghosts? it wouldn't be the first time that's happened.
either way?
not coincidental, as far as sees it.]
no subject
So whatever happens to my heart depends on how CERES is doing. [He was worried something like this might happen, and now Yuri seems to agree with his suspicions...] Though even if anything did happen ta me, they'd just bring me back, right? That's how things go around here.
[It's hard to tell if that statement's supposed to be optimistic or defeatist. Maybe a little of both.]
no subject
Since I've been here, I've never heard of anyone not coming back if they end up dead. [it's usually other things that cause that.]
