[OPEN] tech support's worst nightmare
Who: Peridot (
whatisnerd) & anyone!
When: IC 8/17, morning
Where: Outside in the chaos!!1
What: Peridot deals with the latest event. Kind of on accident.
Rating/Warning: This post will have Steven Universe spoilers up until Too Short To Ride, so please be forewarned! Otherwise, open to all!
[ There were hints beforehand, although Peridot didn't notice them at the time. When she was locked in her new apartment, she frantically tried to open the heavy metal door as it refused to budge—until it miraculously did, swinging open safely. Maybe it had just become unstuck. She wasn't going to question it at the time, when she was busy frantically running out into the streets to escape the devices attacking her in her room.
But her room wasn't the only place full of killer technology. Outside, it's the same story. There's no respite to be found anywhere. She's still being driven into a corner by robots gone wild, and without her limb enhancers, she doesn't have any way to fight back against them, or even to escape effectively.
She's done her very best, but by the next morning, after a full day of trying to hide from constant threat, just when she thought she might be safe... she's tired. Robots are in hot pursuit of her again, but she can't keep doing this forever. With no way to run, and no way to fight, and no friends to hide behind, she just desperately flings herself to the ground, curling up and shielding her gem with her arms. ]
Aaahhhhhh! Stop it!! STOP IT! LEAVE ME ALONE!
[ She didn't expect it to work, and she stays braced for impact for a long moment. But... no impact comes. The air is oddly still, heavy with... something. Something that she can feel there, like a current of hot or cold air, except it isn't hot or cold. It's... what? What is it??
She shifts an arm to peek, only to see her metallic attackers frozen in midair surrounding her. Abruptly, understanding clicks into place, and she sits up, spreading her fingers—that's what she can sense, isn't it? She's the one doing this, isn't she? She never knew she had control over metal like this, but is she really gonna argue right now?! Her helpless demeanor melts away, leaving a jittery smile, spilling over with confidence in her newfound power. As she slowly stands, she starts laughing. ]
Ehehehe... Ahahahaha... Aaaahahahahahahahah!! How's that, you clangy clods? You thought you could POOF me?!
[ She attempts to fling them away dramatically, but it turns out it's a little harder than anticipated, and so she has to settle for a far less dramatic scene, the robots slowly inching away from her through the air. Well. Whatever works. ]
Nnnngg... Ggguh... Gah.
[ Even if it's not as showy as it could be, she's still caused a bit of a scene. Whether you want her to protect you with her amaaazing powers, or whether you want to come help her out from here, or anything else—she's not going anywhere any time soon. ]

You're doing this? Nice.

[ She says, as they hover in the air precariously, shaking as they move without the control of a steady, practiced hand. Dang. This is cool, but it's hard work. ]
no subject
[Which is looking like it might be easier than trying to push them all away from her.]

[ Famous last words. But—she manages to step out of range without incident. Getting them to crash into each other is another thing entirely. At best, she can get them to awkwardly jerk for a second at a time. ]
Nnnnggg.

[So she doesn't have very good control over it, huh... ]
Back in a moment.
[And he's going to go look for something to hit a robot with. Not too far, though.]

[ She strains to look over her shoulder, but she doesn't want to move or look away from the robots. So after a moment, she just trusts that he'll come back in a moment like he said, turning back to focus on what she's doing. ]

It might leave a dent but not much more. He's really not that strong.]

—Yeah! Show that robot who's boss!!
[ It does slip from her "grip" a bit when it's impacted, but she gets hold of it again quickly enough. This could really work! ]
