[ Athena had a shift today at the cosplay cafe, and she was really excited about it! It was always fun being there, since she gets to meet a lot of people. Free food was also involved sometimes, and that was the best part.

…

But today was a bust.

She was even excited to talk to customers with a pirate accent, since that was what she was cosplaying as today. A pirate! You just can't have it all.

Instead of just waiting inside for people to come in, she goes out into the street just by the cafe. She wasn't finishing her work today without showing off her cute costume. Holding out her fake sword and pointing it at any person who passes by, she exclaims: ]

It's into the cafe or Davy Jones' Locker, ye knave!

Of course, anyone who works at the cosplay cafe is also free to stop her from possibly embarrassing herself and the establishment. ]

[ It wasn't even that late! It was just an hour or so before sundown, but a police officer robot thing approaches Athena and tells her to go home. She's not even sure why she's being told to do so, when she's not even a minor. Was it because she was little? Whatever the reason, she felt very insulted by this. ]

I'm on my way to buy some food!

[ But the officer seemed very insistent that she should go home before sundown since it wasn't safe. "Look, kid. You better head home before dark, or else you could get in trouble." ]

I'm not a kid!

[ And if it wasn't her stating that she wants to buy food that could catch someone's attention, it's her yelling that she's not a kid, because she can be loud. Now is one of those times.

Again, the officer continues to believe in its own opinion that Athena is much younger than she truly is, and decides to walk her home that very instant, grabbing her by the wrist. But Athena doesn't take kindly to people giving her unwanted physical contact. She quickly grabs the officer's wrist then moves to turn, her back facing the cop, then she crouches as she pulls its arm to throw him to the ground.

… But she may have thrown her a bit too far. The officer probably hits an innocent passer-by or the space very close to said passer-by.

Oh, you know. [ She talks as if Edgeworth would know. Would he? Maybe. She's assuming, anyway.

She just shrugs everything off with a laugh, trying to keep the situation as light as possible so Edgeworth would relax. ]

And what usually entails hurling robots haphazardly?

[Now that he's done being shocked, he is now going to demand an explanation. Sorry, you're not yet in the clear, Athena.]

Uhhh... [ She wants to come up with a good reason that would actually fly, but it doesn't seem like she can come up with anything that actually sounds like a good story. May as well tell the truth and not make excuses. ] It's a reflex. When someone grabs me like that, I end up throwing them.

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth relaxes, at least. He sighs a little, raising a hand to his forehead. While he understands the need for one's personal space, one did not need to go so far as to toss the person invading it.

I see. And in this case, it was the robot.

Exactly. [ Nod, nod. ] You get it, don't you, Mr. Edgeworth?

[prosecutory]

[He glances upward briefly as if hoping for some divine heavenly help here.]

I understand the need to protect one's personal space...but you needn't go so far. [There, he said it. What else could he say? Edgeworth glances at the spot where the robot had fallen.]

[psycholawgy]

[ She is indeed very embarrassed by all this, but what can you do when you act on instinct when someone grabs you? ]

I personally haven't dug into my own issues regarding this reflex, but I'm sure I'll figure out why I keep doing this some time in the future.

[ Yes, "keep". She's done it before. ]

[prosecutory]

[That's...not good.]

Hopefully, for both your sake...and everyone else's. Not many people would take kindly to being thrown like that.

[He nods toward the robot's point of impact. Plus, people wouldn't be as durable as robots.]

[psycholawgy]

[ Athena just laughs sheepishly. Aren't we glad that it was a robot, and not a person? ]

Then they better not mess with me!

[ You too, Mr. Edgeworth. You're part of the "they". ]

[prosecutory]

No...but there may come a time when you will need to be grabbed, or pulled away for your own good.

[Don't worry, Edgeworth has no intention of messing with you, Athena.]

Next time something like this happens, can you resist the urge to throw someone?

[ If it's for the guy who helped Simon out, then maybe she could. ]

I hope so. Perhaps you can practice at the gym. Do you know martial arts?

[It's the only explanation for why she can not only throw people (and robots), but also throw them pretty well. And at a distance.]

I actually work there.

[ Do you see this sneer? This is the same look Phoenix gives in court when he feels like he's on top of the world. TAKE THAT! ]

I thought you worked at the cosplay cafe.

[Yes, it seems that you picked up a lot from Phoenix, Athena.]

Oh, I have two jobs. [ She says so casually. This ain't a big deal. ]

[prosecutory]

And you can handle both at the same time?

[Says the guy who prosecuted AND worked at the local detective agency during CRAU lyfe.

Anyway, if she works at the gym, that's yet another person who can teach him a little more about fighting.]

No problem at all.

[ She gives him a thumbs up. You're talking to a genius here, Mr. Edgeworth! ]

I can't fight with a sword, though. In fact, I'd rather not touch those things. But I can help you out if you want to learn about self-defense.

[prosecutory]

[She'd rather not fight with a sword? Hmm. This might be something best asked on another day. Then again, Edgeworth himself, for a while, didn't want to use firearms. He appreciated people not prying into that, so he'll do the same for Athena.]

I do. I took a few months' worth of lessons and I am interested in continuing to learn. [In Death City, yeah, but still.]

[ flashes him a peace sign. if phoenix ever comes to the city, she's going to be so excited and tell him that she's teaching mr. edgeworth a bunch of cool stuff. ONE MORE POINT FOR ANALYTICAL PSYCHOLOGY. ]

Start calling me Master Athena from now on.

[Yeah, no, he's not impressed by that smile and the whole CALL ME MASTER ATHENA thing, so he'll just raise his eyebrows slightly with a deadpan expression.

[He flinches slightly and grunts, rubbing his shoulder. What is it with people who love to clap him on the shoulder?]

...I'll be at the gym every morning.

I don't work at the gym every morning, but I'll bother you if we're there at the same time.
