[ Athena had a shift today at the cosplay cafe, and she was really excited about it! It was always fun being there, since she gets to meet a lot of people. Free food was also involved sometimes, and that was the best part.

…

But today was a bust.

She was even excited to talk to customers with a pirate accent, since that was what she was cosplaying as today. A pirate! You just can't have it all.

Instead of just waiting inside for people to come in, she goes out into the street just by the cafe. She wasn't finishing her work today without showing off her cute costume. Holding out her fake sword and pointing it at any person who passes by, she exclaims: ]

It's into the cafe or Davy Jones' Locker, ye knave!

Of course, anyone who works at the cosplay cafe is also free to stop her from possibly embarrassing herself and the establishment. ]

[ It wasn't even that late! It was just an hour or so before sundown, but a police officer robot thing approaches Athena and tells her to go home. She's not even sure why she's being told to do so, when she's not even a minor. Was it because she was little? Whatever the reason, she felt very insulted by this. ]

I'm on my way to buy some food!

[ But the officer seemed very insistent that she should go home before sundown since it wasn't safe. "Look, kid. You better head home before dark, or else you could get in trouble." ]

I'm not a kid!

[ And if it wasn't her stating that she wants to buy food that could catch someone's attention, it's her yelling that she's not a kid, because she can be loud. Now is one of those times.

Again, the officer continues to believe in its own opinion that Athena is much younger than she truly is, and decides to walk her home that very instant, grabbing her by the wrist. But Athena doesn't take kindly to people giving her unwanted physical contact. She quickly grabs the officer's wrist then moves to turn, her back facing the cop, then she crouches as she pulls its arm to throw him to the ground.

… But she may have thrown her a bit too far. The officer probably hits an innocent passer-by or the space very close to said passer-by.

[ A wee bit unsure if she should tell the story, but since Shirou entrusted her with something big, she could at least share a little story. ]

He posted on the network about a lot of stuff, [ And she only got the part about not being Shirou's dad. ] and then we met up. He lies a lot.

Somehow I'm not surprised to hear you say that. Archer's definitely a liar. [Not even going to deny it.]

Let me know if he causes you too much trouble. I'll speak to his Master and maybe she can do something about it.

Oh, it's fine. [ Waves a hand dismissively. ] I got him under control.

[ She realises after saying that that it was weird... She has Shirou's future self (probably?!) under control. ]

I mean, he's nothing to worry about.

[ There, maybe her phrasing was better. ]

I'll try not to worry then. [Key word here is "try" because Shirou will still worry anyways.] Actually, I'm more shocked you can handle him.

Archer's got attitude and he's difficult to deal with. Have you dealt with liars in the past?

[psycholawgy]

Yeah, even if I didn't want to.

[ She covers both her ears as she speaks. ]

I can hear people's emotions. It's-- I don't know. I was born with special hearing. So when people lie, I can tell because I can hear the discord in their voices.

[ And she takes her hands off as she smiles. ]

It's pretty convenient, especially in the cases I handle.

[projections]

No kidding. [He nods in agreement.] They're plenty of criminals out there and they have every reason to lie.

It's good that you can use your ability and catch them before it's too late.

[psycholawgy]

[ Nod, nod. ]

Yup! It takes some time to figure certain things out, but it's pretty pointless to lie while I'm around.

[projections]

I have no intention of lying to you.

It's better to tell the truth, even if it's hard to say otherwise you might end up hurting someone.

[psycholawgy]

Tell me about it!

[ She frowns. ]

If only every witness thought the same. It's such a challenge.

[projections]

It's a shame they aren't completely truthful. Maybe they expect you to fall for their lies.

I know you aren't that gullible.

[psycholawgy]

It's the judge who's really gullible.

[projections]

You can't be serious.

[She likely is...]

[psycholawgy]

I wish I wasn't serious.

[ Sigh!! ]

But that's....[Really irresponsible of him!] he's giving you extra work.

Why can't the judge just believe you instead?

Well... [ Starts humming, because derailing a little bit might help. She can't think of a good way to word things! ]

Uh... the prosecution always gets to him first?

[projections]

Edgeworth must have a hard time dealing with it.

I know he's amazing, but I still think I underestimated him.

[psycholawgy]

You know, I don't really know much about him. He's not the Mr. Edgeworth I know, too.

[ Leans in to whisper. ] He's actually much younger here.

[ Why she had to whisper, who knows. But she didn't want other people to hear that Edgeworth was old. People can get so stuffy when it comes to age. ]

[projections]

Edgeworth's younger somehow? [Shirou starts whispering too because he doesn't want to anyone else to hear this.]

I always presumed he was old. Perhaps we're better off not discussing Edgeworth's age.

[psycholawgy]

Hmm... Boss is in his early thirties, so Mr. Edgeworth should be around that age, too. Now he's just a couple of years older than me.

[ Awkward. ]

[projections]

No way! [Shirou don't yell. You're supposed to be whispering.]

Doesn't that make you feel uneasy? I mean, it's odd.

[psycholawgy]

Just a little bit?

[ Even making a gesture with her thumb and index finger. ]

I feel like I'm the senior, now. He's still older, but I feel like I have to take care of him because of it.

[projections]

I could understand why you feel like that.

We aren't sure what's happening to Edgeworth, but you'll look after him either way.

[psycholawgy]

You bet!

[ And, hey. Now that she's agreed to help Shirou out with his school stuff, amongst other things... ]

Don't you worry. I have your back, too.

[projections]

It's admirable of you to look after others. Don't forget to look after yourself as well.

[Shirou can't help but worry when Athena says that.]

Don't worry about me! I've got everything under control.

[ For now, anyway. ]
