choo choo open log train

Who: Shinjiro ([personal profile] unevoke & open
When: misc. days after event 9
Where: PLACES
What: THINGS
Rating/Warning: shouldn't be anything crazy!

a - mcceres
[By this point, work's become a monotony. It's a way to earn money, and he doesn't bedgrudge it for that purpose, but the forced socialization doesn't suit his tastes and the risk of running into someone he's conversed with - particularly after the events of the previous week - leave him tenser than he usually is.

At least he's an entertaining sight, dressed in his standard uniform of brightly colored apron and hat, sporting one of the flattest looks known to man as he asks:]

What can I get you today?

b - some random thrift store
[Shinji's stay thus far in Cerealia has been unkind to his limited wardrobe. His hat's looking particularly worse for the wear, his pants have small rips in them, and his coat is probably going to disintegrate the moment someone touches it.

Hence, his presence at the local thrift store.

There's not a whole lot on display, most of either not in his size or in atrocious colors and patterns he would never think to wear in public. Like the shirt he pulls out off the rack in sheer disbelief: a lemon yellow, with pink beach balls and blue umbrellas.

Who the hell even thought this was a good idea? And no he's not going to buy it, don't you dare ask.]

c - the cybuddy store
[Out of all the places in Cerealia though, the CYBuddy store is where Shinji's spent the most time of late. His guilt over attempting to sacrifice the things (and in some cases successfully) have led him to return time and again, to offer assistance in the store and give the remaining CYBuddies some proper attention.

It also gives him an excuse not to be social, and to put off thinking about the terrible things he tried to do.

Of course, there's no point in spending time in the CYBuddy store if he's not going to buy anything. There's Mitsuru's CYbuddy to spoil, and since he can't exactly buy gourmet CYBuddy food (does that even exist?) he settles for toys, picking out two and weighing them against each other.

He turns, eyes questioning.]

Hey, you got any idea which of these lasts longer?

[Quality over quantity, yo.]

d - game center
[Shinjiro isn't much for games. Having played only a rare few during his childhood, he'd never developed the fervor for them many of his peers had. That said, the pseudo-game of live action Pac-man he'd played his first day here had been kind of fun. He wanders into the game center one day when it's mostly empty - blame the early hour for that - and spends a good ten minutes just walking down the rows, checking out what there is on offer.

He stops in front of a fighting game and cracks a small smile. Akihiko would probably love this.]

e - choose your own adventure
[ooc: feel free to make your own scenario or pm me for an individualized prompt!]

Not one of these.

[ Because that's enough of a distinction for him without really having to answer the question.. there's no way you can treat these as real pets, right? After all, they're robots, so they probably just work the same simple way that all those robot pets back home do..

.. even if they do look deceptively normal. ]

Do you think they even need those?
unathletic: (good news is on the way)

[ There's a small half-annoyed glance away from Shinjiro at that, although the annoyance itself doesn't seem to be directed towards the other guy. ]

There's a lot of stuff here that makes no sense. [ This is just the tip of the iceberg compared to all the weird futuristic stuff and then the random stuff that happens with ghosts and murder clowns and god knows what else.. it's Not Fun.

He looks back though after a moment, releasing a breath. ]

Why don't you try giving one of those things to one of them around here and see what happens? I doubt they break that easily.
unathletic: (the way you used to be)

[ The look he gives back is probably the silent equivalent of "what's the worst that could happen"...

Since he doesn't want to say that out loud. He definitely doesn't want to say that out loud, since saying it out loud just means that something worse is going to happen. It's just how his luck - or lack of it - works in this place. ]

They should have bigger problems around here than having to stop people from playing with their robots. [ Else their priorities just suck. ]
unathletic: (to be is history)

[ Heung Soo at least moves a little closer now to peer at the CYBuddy as well.. he's been a little curious about these things, but mostly since he thought they'd just be like the robot pets they had back home. You know, simple toys for little kids at best. But the way the "dog" is chewing on that rope looks almost real.. like you wouldn't know it's a robot if it wasn't indicated all over the store.

After a moment of staring at the thing, he finally speaks up to answer the question. ]

I doubt there's an easy way to steal these things. They make too much noise. [ And it'd be sort of suspicious to leave the store with a barking coat, right. ] .. unless there's some way to turn them off.

[ But that would just seem.. weird with these life-like animals. Like you're killing them or something. ]
unathletic: (that crackle into the dark)

[personal profile] unathletic 2015-03-22 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably.

[ Then again, who knows in this place? It looks like some sort of weird sci-fi movie filming location half of the time, so it might just be some sort of technology he's never even heard of back in his own world.

Even if that'd sure have to be a long-lasting battery - he's never seen anyone having to replace it or anything. ]

.. you seem pretty interested in them though.

[ Even though Shinjiro looks like one of those guys who has a tough guy kind of image.. Heung Soo knows it, he's been there. He still is there, in fact, even if he didn't get a hobo trenchcoat and all for it. ]
unathletic: (into the ocean)

[personal profile] unathletic 2015-03-27 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[ What an excuse, Shinji.. at least Heung Soo won't bother further questioning it. He knows what it's like, trying to keep up a slightly more tough front when you're actually a huge mother hen deep down, even if he doesn't know how deep it runs for this other guy. ]

I don't think you can break it that easily. [ Yeah, basically that last thought. Even if Heung Soo hasn't tried dropping one off a six-story building, he's not that cruel. ] They're robots in the end. Even if they look real, it's not like they can die.
unathletic: (in fact this is twice in a row)

[personal profile] unathletic 2015-03-30 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Heung Soo's gaze travels to the small group of robotic animals huddled in a corner of the pen, watching them for a moment. ]

Even if it'd never die.. It wouldn't feel right. [ Whether it's humans or just animals in this case. It's a little philosophical to think of and so he's not talking a whole lot about it since he would just seem lame, but he can at least briefly mention it like this. ]

It might be sad, but it's a part of life. Taking it away would make everything feel fake.

[ And there's already enough fake and weird things in his place. ]
