![]() Did you think the glitches were over? Boy, were you wrong! Through the last remnants of the digital kerfluffle, the latest batch of recovered code has manifested in CERES' computer systems as the guilty parties. Yes, that's right, all incoming arrivals are now placed on the wanted list, accused of having committed the heinous crime of creating and releasing the gorg0n virus all over Cerealia. These vicious twelve have been working together all along and conspiring against CERES, and it's now up to everyone to figure out if the new arrivals are truly guilty or if they are as innocent and confused as they claim. In the meantime, CERES has dispatched assassination droids to stop the accused and bring them to justice via disembowelment. So while CERES rushes to stop the droids from committing murder, characters are perfectly welcome to a.) soil themselves b.) fight off the droids c.) run while soiling themselves or d.) cry a lot. e.) ask for assistance!

There must be a mistake somewhere. First the viruses, then the berserk cleaning droids, and finally this.
He's seen all the pictures on the screens, as well as their allegations - but his conscience is clear. He did nothing of the sort, would do nothing of the sort - and it only threw the credibility of the government into question. Of course, the slim, remote possibility still remained that this was all indeed true - but the odds are stacked heavily against said possibility.
And he needed to fight. He had already died once, and had no intention of dying again.
The assassin droid is not alive, but he is observant enough to notice its approach - his sword is out in an instant, the spellbook in his hands rising into the air. The robot is fast, yes, but he has magic on his side. With a flick of his wrist he draws moisture from the atmosphere, pressure-washing the droid with a blast of pressurized water to give himself room for a second strike. With his left (free) hand he draws a gun from its holster at his waist, points it to his temple, and pulls the trigger.
"Come forth, Awanagi-no-Mikoto!"
There is a resounding crystalline crack, a flare of blue light, and a humanoid figure appears in front of him. The droid had recovered in this short span of time and now lunged forward with a downward slash, but the figure - whatever it was - puts its hands together -
- there is another flash of light, white this time, accompanied by a fizzle similar to static. When the light fades, the robot is now ten feet away from him, with a smoking hole burned into its chassis. However, it doesn't seem to be out of commission just yet - as you watch, it gets up unsteadily and approaches again.
Maybe you should help?
phase iv;
A while later he is on the streets again, Awanagi still accompanying him. However, the Persona had taken off its mask and given it to its owner to wear - who now seems to be deep within concentration. He's muttering something under his breath constantly, and the mask makes him appear a lot more bizarre than usual. It doesn't help that Awanagi looks less than human, either - the two of them make a strange sight, definitely out of place in the futuristic colony.
Does he seem suspicious? Maybe. In any case, he removes the mask after a while and hands it back to his Persona. If you wanted to ask any questions, now would be a good time.
phase ii
And then...he sees the face. This man is another who has been accused. He appears to be in a tight spot, and Sousei moves to help him (if one has been accused unjustly, then the others may have too) when...well, he pulls out that gun. He doesn't give voice to the stop that he thinks, but...then the man does not crumple to the ground as putting a gun to his temple should end in, and...
...Shikigami? No, something different. But there's no time to think about that now (the supernatural in this situation makes his skin prickle, but he would recognize the more familiar summons) and immediately he's taking two quick steps forward. It's clear by now that these things aren't human, so he doesn't hesitate to unsheathe his sword, swinging it forward in an easy movement to sheer through the thing's arm at the wrist, both robotic hand and sword tumbling to hit the ground.
And then he takes a step backwards into a proper stance as the robot shifts, as if trying to figure out who to focus on.
"Are you uninjured?" Still, his voice sounds perfectly steady, as if they aren't dealing with a bizarre robot trying to murder them.
thank you for le tag
Takakage's eyes flick to the new arrival before returning to focus on the droid before him - it's... Abe no Sousei, was it? Someone else who had also shown up on the screens. If this had all been a mistake, then this Sousei individual might also be innocent. But in any case, he should still keep up his guard. There is no knowing who he can trust right now.
"I am fine. Thank you for your concern." Takakage replies in the same calm tone that Sousei had used, matching the other man's composure. It's rare to see another as controlled as he was, enough to think rationally in the midst of battle.
Sousei moves and amputates one of the robot's hands, diverting its attention for a moment. That brief hesitation is all it takes for Awanagi to prepare for another strike - the Persona calls an orb of white light into its left hand, but instead of casting its previous spell it clenches said hand into a fist and punches the robot straight in the chest - specifically, the dent left by the Megido that had been unleashed earlier.
There is the sound of metal splintering and the droid staggers backwards, giving Takakage an opening to fire the magic that he had been charging. The spellbook levitating before him turns so that it directly faces their opponent, and a beam of concentrated light emerges from within its pages. Awanagi levitates gracefully out of the way, and its owner follows up with a horizontal sword slash, sending off a blue crescent shockwave that cleaves off the droid's other arm.
However, it doesn't seem to be willing to give up just yet. A little more pummeling should do the trick.
but of course! we'll make this cr happen for real now
What is strange anymore, at this point in time? He's really not even sure.
Regardless, it's clear that the droid is on its last legs, and Sousei isn't one to hesitate; he steps forward, sword moving in a quick, vicious arc to sheer through the robot's neck, sending that droid head flying. It hits the ground with a clang (which Sousei is sure is not the sound human heads make), and he lowers his sword as the body crumples.
No blood on his sword either. ...What a strange situation he's found himself in.
"I assume you are also innocent of your accused crimes." Well, the rest can be figured out later. For now, Sousei intends to hit the important points.
SANE FRIENDS GOOOOO
"Yes, I am." His voice is calm as ever, its measured tone conveying no doubt. "You have my gratitude for your assistance."
The fight might have dragged on for longer if Sousei did not intervene. From what the other man had asked, it seems that the whole event is indeed a farce - or at least, that is what the other man intends him to believe. He does not yet have enough information to make a proper judgment, so it excludes hostility from his response. For now.
"I believe this to be a side effect of this said virus that is spreading throughout the mainframe of the city." He is no stranger to these terms, after having learned them in Hinoto-Ri. But if the administration here is so ineffective... oh dear.
no subject
Instead, he inclines his head slightly, responding simply with, "There is no need to thank me for this." They are, after all, all in the same boat together, and protecting those who can't protect themselves is just...something the Yamainu does.
...But then the historical figure from Japanese past (???) starts talking about all of these things that Sousei still doesn't understand despite the powerpoint (and why should that help...), and now he's not sure after all. It had seemed like they were from similar circumstances, but now... Hm.
"Is that so." It's a neutral response, but it's not like he has much of an opinion either way. "Is there a way to resolve it with minimum casualties?"
There are people who's pictures definitely don't belong up there, okay.
no subject
"I believe the residents of this colony are not exactly inclined to take action against us. All that we will have to handle are the robot assassins which come after us." He indicates the droid some distance away from them.
But now. On to the important questions. "You are Abe no Sousei, I presume? Pardon if this is too abrupt, but - might you be from the Land of the Rising Sun?"
It's the archaic name for their homeland. From the clothing, Sousei probably comes from a time in the future, but not far enough to be of modernity.
no subject
Still... even if he intends to help those he can, it doesn't mean that he can't handle a few simple questions, especially when it might earn him an ally who can help cover more ground and protect more people. And so Sousei nods once, simply. It's a very archaic name...but it simply emphasizes that this is...seriously a figure of Japanese history.
And so he removes his hat, pressing it to his chest as he responds. "That is correct on both counts. It is an honor, Kobayakawa Takakage." If he was the sort, this would be the time to add an honorific if ever, but...despite the respect offered, he truly isn't. Still, a samurai of the Sengoku era is worth acknowledging.
no subject
"May I ask which year you come from?"
He needs to handle this carefully, especially given his amount of anachronistic knowledge. The future is a place of intrigue, but it also put his identity at jeopardy. No one usually expects a figure from the past to know so much of the future.
no subject
Sousei just nods once, simply, and replaces his hat.
"Meiji 11--1878, by the Western calendar." Sousei's response is prompt and simple, as he tends to be, because there's no need to prevaricate when at least one of them clearly knows what's going on. (More than he does, anyway.)
phase iv
She takes the Evoker from it's usual place on her belt and with the pull of a trigger and the sound of shattered glass, summons Artemisia.
She concentrated, Artemisia searching for the source of power. It was a power similar to that she encountered before, but she couldn't pin point it. Another Persona user? Who could possibly be here? Mitsuru looks around, but it seems that whoever or wherever this Persona user is, she's approaching them soon enough. ]
(( ooc: artemesia can be sensed but not communicated with ))
helloooo
It's something that he doesn't expect, but isn't surprising. Philemon contracted with hundreds of individuals, and after the dimensional year was repaired they had probably all gone home. And then the Flamines would have attacked, and the chain of events culminate on them manifesting here. Though it isn't anyone he knows or is familiar with - he would have recognized their signature if that was the case.
He removes Awanagi's mask and hands it back to his Persona, looking around and catching sight of the woman approaching him. She had a Persona following her, too - it looked humanoid as well. Evidently she has come to address him, so he greets her with a respectful nod. ]
Good evening. Can I help you with anything?
[ He is calm and polite as ever, but still alert and prepared in case something happens. ]
no subject
Good evening. My name is Mitsuru Kirijo.
[ The thing that she's very much afraid of, is that this could be one of those people that had their Personas artificially induced by the Kirijo Group. And if that's the case, then this may be a time to fight another Persona user - something that she thought she wouldn't have to do again. ]
I will be direct, for this is a matter that I cannot express with delicacy. I would like to ask how you acquired your Persona.
no subject
[ It isn't a question he had expected, but at least it is something he knows. This young lady might be from Hinoto-Ri, after all - and he had heard of worlds where Persona-Users did exist, outside of the city. ]
A long time ago, there were two beings which manifested from the sea of the collective human consciousness - Nyarlahotep, one of despair and destruction, and Philemon, one of hope and renewal. The two sought to best each other, enforcing their will upon the city of Hinoto-Ri - a nexus of the multiverse. Philemon thus drew individuals with the potential from multitudes of worlds, enlisting their help and granting them the power to use a Persona.
[ He draws his Evoker from his holster, holding it out to her - careful to orient it so that he did not seem intent on using it on her. ]
I was amongst the many approached by Philemon, and given this Evoker. This is my Persona, Awanagi-no-Mikoto - but I trust that you already know of its existence. [ If she had come all this way to seek him out, then she must have some sort of scanning ability as well. ]
I am so sorry if I'm slow aaand phase ii!
She's since dealt with hers, and is intent on finding more when the crack ricochets nearby. She catches a glimpse of something... not quite human, if she had to go by all that light, and by the time the robot whirs back into action, Yang has jogged over and fired a warning shot from a gauntlet. It's enough to knock it back a bit, for her to catch up to the stranger.
... Another one from the wanted list. Of course.
"Need a hand?"
ITS OK IM SLOW TOO....
"That would be much appreciated, thank you." Takakage answers calmly but firmly, slashing forward with his sword and producing a blue crescent shockwave. It further enlarges the hole in the robot's chassis, giving the girl an opening to strike - he lets her go first. Awanagi still needs to charge.
no subject
So she pushes off from the ground now, into a (probably unnecessary) flip that allows her to aim a sharp, fiery punch downwards, right onto the robot's head. Hopefully her new friend doesn't mind loud explosive noises.
no subject
The robot's head explodes, but it doesn't seem to be down just yet. It staggers for a moment, its head rolling off onto the floor - and its body is neatly bifurcated by another crescent shockwave that traveled below Yang while she jumped. Awanagi follows up with a point-blank Megido for good measure, and the droid's remaining limbs are vapourized by the charge.
There is the collective sound of metal crashing onto the floor, and then silence.
ii
"What the---"
He's seen a lot of weird shit already, but obviously not enough, and really, he never expected a funny-looking person to just randomly appear like that. For now, Butch doesn't do anything. The wanted guy (and who cares if someone's wanted, not this outlaw, not in the least) seems to be having things under control for the time being.
no subject
He opens with a wide horizontal slash from his sword - while the blade didn't come into contact with the droid, it produced a blue crescent-shaped shockwave that further enlarged the hole in its chassis. Awanagi follows up with a punch, white light streaming from whatever was within its clenched fist - and manages to hit straight through what remained of the robot's middle section.
Have another crescent blade, and the droid's head is cleaved clean off. It should be out of commission now.
no subject
He knew, however, that that wa really damn cool, and that he was amazed by what just happened. He doesn't believe in the supernatural, and he doesn't even believe in God, even though his parents were very much Mormons and religious and wishing for him to be more faithful. It was just not realistic. But seeing things like this made him question everything he had believed for forty years, because holy shit.
"That's friggin' awesome."
no subject
He does not dismiss Awanagi yet - there is still a chance that he may be attacked. Despite the sword in his hand, his expression is calm - though his smile is tempered by caution.
"Thank you."
He pauses here, waiting to see what the youth would say in response.
no subject
He puts his hands at the back of his head, stretching lazily. Normal work really is taxing in a completely different way than robbing banks and trains were. Not the same or as much of a pain as rustling, though. Rustling was a pain in the ass, and he wasn't very good at it these days. He had never been good at stealing horses.
"How're you doin't? I ain't ever seen anythin' like't."
no subject
"Ah, it is magic, of course." Any strategist would have an ace up his sleeve, and he isn't about to reveal all of his secrets. "Some simple spells and the like."
If the youth pressed for more details, he could give them - but not too much. The Evoker would be hard to explain, too.
