[Naoki's starting to learn a few things about Yang the longer that he spends time with her. One of these things is that she seems to remember well even the things he thinks she says completely jokingly-- like how they talked about coaxing bellyrubs from one of his demons. How she's going to do that, he's not sure, but hey, there can't be any harm in letting her give it a shot if she's even a bit serious. Especially since he's here in case Yurlungur gets any ideas of trying to eat any magatsuhi.

Tearing his curious gaze away from the outfit she's switched to today, he props his hand on his hip.]

Since you dressed up and all, I could let you try it out. Buuuut, it's not too late to call it off either. [And they can get on to training! He looks again at her clothes, secretly admiring (where he's sure Yurlungur won't). It's different and fresh and er anyway back on track he's completely focused on the topic on hand.]

[Naoki blinks down at her hand as those fingers curl around his. Ah, good, so the feeling's come back. He squeezes her hand.

He's just helping to test her grip. That's all.]

I'm not gonna beat you on this one either, am I? Though I'm wondering about your timing.

[ And to keep testing her grip, she'll squeeze back. ]

[Squeeeeeze, he strengthens his grip slightly, as though encouraging her to do the same.]

You sure you're not just imagining it? Mistaking it?

[She calls him cute a lot!!]

[ She's concentrating on matching his strength, carefully. Is she getting it? Even Yang's not sure if feeling's completely restored yet. ]

Why are you so eager to deny it?

'Cause I'm getting called cute by someone a lot cuter than I am.

[And when does that ever happen!!

Naoki's watching their hands, making minimal adjustments to his strength, seeing if she'll match those too...]

What's wrong with that? It's the cute ones who can tell the most!

It's just like one of those things, y'know? Where you're all 'there's no way that could happen to me' and then if actually does, it doesn't feel real.

[This is absolutely legit and also a little silly but the bottom line of this seems to be something along the lines of:

I don't really get compliments much.]

And you're the only person I've ever met who'd call me cute.

I don't think that's right. I mean, people would definitely call you hot. And once they got to know you, you'd be cute!

[ A decisive nod. ]

I'll just keep reminding you, in the meantime, until some other pretty girl can catch on.

[A bit of spluttering. For a moment, he pictures what Isamu and Chiaki's reactions might be to that in his head. 'Cause they would've never called him either hot or cute, he's pretty sure.]

You don't have to do that... Anyway, aren't I still working on the friend thing?

[flaredo]

[ Sorry, hold on, she's laughing into his shoulder. ]

Pretty girls can be friends, too!

That's not what I mean, [he complains, red-faced and looking down at her head, her hair. Don't laugh at him so hard, Yang!]

I mean, I'm not gonna worry about other girls thinking that about me.

[ Yang, don't tease. ]

[She teases too much. Because he groans and looks like he'd just flop right over if she wasn't leaning on him.]

[He's not going to win against Yang at all. May as well call in this much as a defeat. He rolls his shoulder to nudge against hers.]

[HE'S A GOOD SPORT IN THE END even if he knows nothing about taking compliments.]

[ and she'll nudge him back. ]

... I guess I just have to make up with your demons now.

I think it's just Yurlungur who's sulking.

[Naoki laughs.]

But I'm sure he'll be won back pretty quick. He took to you quick the first time.

Appealing to a demon's vanity always works.

[ And squeeze his hand again. ]

[It's with that squeeze that he remembers and he looks down at their hands.]

But before you get back to your demon taming... how're your hands?

[He'll squeeze his hand around hers. And since she has another hand (fancy that), he turns a little more toward her, offering his free hand.]

[flaredo]

[ Oh, right, those. She's pretty sure she's fine now, but she'll place her free hand in his palm and solemnly-- ]

Pretty normal-feeling!

[ But she took his hand anyway?? ]

[She did take his hand anyway. Huh. Naoki shifts his hand to grasp at the other one now too.

Squeeze as hard as you possibly can? [He's just playing now tbh but hey he's curious. He doesn't expect her to go easy on him either...]

... [ Yang raises an eyebrow.

And then promptly squeezes. ]

[But he's laughing even as he tugs his hands a little in her grip.]
