The day was pretty nice, but Grell didn't care. She was nose deep in her newest novel 'The Many Different Shades of A Combination of Black and White' while staying behind the counter. From time to time, her eyes glanced over to Ryuko, making sure she was serving her time for not attending her lectures.

This detention dealt with organizing the thongs by alphabetical order. Of course she knew it was a ridiculous request, but it may give her ideas on how to better advertise her items.

"Any progress, Miss Matoi?" The page was turned, arriving to the halfway point of her novel. This was the best purchase she had ever made.

--Whoa! [ She takes the binder, and definitely notes the weight. ]

Ya sure weren't kidding, huh? Is there like a condensed version of this somewhere...?

[ She places it down on her work bench, and starts flipping through the pages at random. ]

[She looks over Ryuko's shoulder and points to one pattern.]

This one goes very well with silk! [Points to a different one] OH! We sold out of that one! [Then there is a snicker as she points to a leopard print pattern.] I sent this to my son-in-law.

That one to your son-in-law? Ain't that kinda feminine?

[ What a boring book! If she's going to be stuck here, she might as well maintain this absurd conversation with Grell.

Maybe the teacher will let her go if she likes her enough... ]

More like embarrassing. [Which was the point of the gift!] I doubt he'd ever wear it.

[She seems rather pleased with what she did.]

Yeah, yeah, whatever... I can't believe ya actually wanna keep me here. [ Dealing with Ryuko's work ethic seems to be more of a punishment for Grell than the other way around. ]

Hey, you'd know a lot about fashion and all that stuff, yeah? I mean-- besides lingerie.

Your detention isn't over just yet.

[Grell is a masochist...]

I'd like to believe I am. I've seen a few disasters, especially during the homecoming dances.

...Glad I never had one of those.

By the way, ya seen one of these things on the network yet? [ Ryuko opens her Cerevice and shows Grell an image. She figures if anyone can put this argument to rest, it's Mrs. Details over here! ] It's the latest craze, everyone's goin' nuts over what colour it's supposed to be.

[Grell looks at the image, grimacing. What a tacky design!]

Shouldn't they be more concerned about how distasteful it is? Who made those cuts?! And those patterns! Some bright idea to abuse lace like that!

[IT'S SO UGLY!

Adjusting her glasses, she takes a closer look.] It's white and gold. What other shade could it be?

What? [ She looks back at the image she showed her teacher, to make sure she presented the right dress. It's definitely the one. ] It's black and blue, I think ya need new glasses.

I mean, I don't get it, where the hell does everyone see the white?!

These [She taps her frames lightly.] are special made, ensuring perfect vision in all situations. Trust me, it's white and gold. Perhaps you need your eyes checked.

It's freaking blue!! Quit screwin' around!

[ She points to the red streak in her hair, testing Grell's eyesight. ] What colour is this, then?

[SIGHS. Teenagers...]

It's red, like my hair.

I know what red is, I was just wonderin' if you know, 'cause apparently white and blue are the same thing to ya.

Whatever, I'm gonna look through this fabric bible and prove ya wrong!

It's OBVIOUS I know what red is, and all colors in between!

[She points to Ryuko's streak.]

That is tomato red!

[Points to her own hair.]

This is in between cardinal and vermillion. But expecting someone who can't tell one print from another is like expecting YOU to attend class!

If ya have such low expectations of me then why am I even here?!? And don't just give your hair colour a cool name while mine is just a vegetable!! [ Or is it a fruit? She wouldn't know. ]

YOU'RE HERE BECAUSE YOU'RE HAVING DETENTION!

[Worst Detention Ever.]

[ S-So loud! ]

Y'know I'm startin' to think you're just desperate to have some workers here. Why not try and offer me a real job after I'm done with this?

[She's angry! VERY ANGRY!]

Don't tell me what to do in my own store! [Folds her arms over her chest.] I'll offer you a job if you can finish this one decently.

[Raises an eyebrow and gives Ryuko a judging look.]

If you'll even take it.

Well... that depends on how much ya wanna pay me.

[ That's all it comes down to, really. She needs credits to support herself and her shopaholic roommate. ] I'm only willing to do part-time, and minimal hours. Supervision not required.

As if I'd let YOU be unsupervised! [She mumbles. Even if she wasn't in the shop, she'd still spy via cameras all over the store.]

Why only part time? Did you wish to work and attend school?

Well, yeah, I get paid for that, too. Think I go there just for the education? Like that's gonna help me save my world, right?

[ She's more driven than you think, sensei! Just not in the right department. ]

[She wouldn't ever believe it..]

I'd expect there's some string attached, with providing free education. As for their claim that our worlds are gone, I'm still skeptical.

[ She stops sorting for a moment to look at her properly. This seems important. ]

What makes ya say that?

There are a number of discrepancies with what has been told to us, and what has truly been going on.

[Tilts her head a bit.]

Did you not attend that meeting?

They were all talkin' about geeky stuff like glitches and whatnot, I could barely keep up.

And then nobody took me seriously when I said let's go talk to the big prez directly.

[ Also. She got in a punch-on with Rin Tohsaka. ]
