![]() It's been a whole month without any new arrivals. Who knows why? If you ask CERES, they won't bother with any in-depth explanations. They will simply claim that none of the code out there has been responding to their recovery methods, so they had to rework a lot of their technology. However, after several weeks of grueling work, they have finally experienced success! A fresh new batch of faces is coming in, and to celebrate their arrival and the real upcoming holidays, CEO Julius Vincere has arranged for a Christmas-themed carnival for all to enjoy. Those who arrive will wake up in Cerealia and be given a long, boring explanation and powerpoint as per usual before being ushered onto a bus (there is no escape. The robots will force you onto the bus one way or another). You will be unwillingly carted to the theme park where you will be immediately assaulted by a giant array of lights followed by several rides that you can enjoy. After you disembark from the bus, one of the snowman robots will be waiting to give you tickets to the rides and show you around as part of the Grand Opening. The amusement park will remain open for the rest of the month of December so anyone can visit as they please. The first couple tickets will also be on the house for new arrivals, but the rest will have to be bought with credits, so choose wisely! (Or try and sneak into the rides -- then face the wrath of the snowman robots and their snowman firearms :D)

I fail to see the mystery in it, myself.
[ Ugh this place is still grating on his nerves and getting out would still be a good idea. Mostly distracted by this slightly unnerving conversation, though. ]
Lots of inhuman creatures wear the guise of humans to blend in otherwise they wouldn't last long, would they? Ourselves included.
no subject
He's seen it, after all.
But his bitterness always manifests as something borderlike psychopathic, and he grins. ]
Hmm.. I don't think there's anything to be feared from the humans here though. They're pretty stupid.
[ And some are actually really nice and Shuu doesn't get it at all but.. you know.. he won't say that part out loud ever. ]
no subject
[ It's a simplistic question and his head cants to the side slightly; more curious than anything. He didn't believe humans were really a threat, especially now that they weren't at home and the CCG was not present to come after him at all or anything like that. ]
no subject
[ Not the only way he implied it, but it's a big part of it, and Shuu nods a little bit as he says it. Honestly, he's still curious as to what exactly this guy is, but he can keep this up for a little bit more and try to narrow it down through what the other is saying. ]
A lot of people don't even believe me when I say I'm a demon... that is exactly the kind of stupidity I'm talking about.
no subject
It didn't seem at all like something done for a cheap laugh, either. ]
...I wouldn't exactly call it stupidity, but more that people would prefer to live in ignorant bliss than accept the truth about what's new, confusing and scary to them.
[ Himself included. Mainly in when he became what he was now, he'd denied it left and right and starved himself to the point he nearly attacked his best friend which would have absolutely destroyed him. ]
That's probably why they don't believe you, and why most just won't say anything about it at all.
[ Oh, keep trying, Shuu. You're lucky if you get Kaneki to state outright what he is. ]
no subject
But hey, whatever, he can focus on this part of the conversation too. For now, anyway. ]
Isn't that the same as being stupid? [ To him, anyway. ] If you can't accept something that's right in front of you, then you're pretty dumb.. denying that sort of stuff's no use at all!
no subject
He was mad, to say the least.
Not at Shuu but rather at himself because that truth was obvious and glaringly true when he looked back at it. Back then,he'd refused to accept what was the blatant truth and if he would have accepted this then maybe the hardships he'd gone on wouldn't have broken him like that. ]
It's not no use. If you look at it in the case of being inhuman, perhaps if they were human before, they would want to deny they were anything else in order to preserve their humanity and the life they lived before. Not wishing themselves to be seen as a monster.
[ Such a thing could just seem like a vague statement but a nagging feeling says that this guy was liable to tie his statement into that it regarded him rather clearly. ]
no subject
So he was human, and then he wasn't.. and now he just wishes to keep his humanity, huh? Anything that isn't human is a monster?
How laughable - isn't that the exact same attitude so many humans have? ]
Ah, what's that..? If you're not human, you're just a monster..? [ Yeah, there's definitely a hint of something unhinged in his voice at that. ]
no subject
[ Kaneki's voice sounds almost edged there, sharp and somewhat abrupt as his gaze turned back to Shuu afterward. It was simply a matter of misunderstanding when he'd said that, and it hadn't really been his intention when he'd said that before.
If he heard that slight unhinged tone to the other's voice he didn't really show it, either. ]
Just... that was the way I thought initially with what I am as we... the things my kind has to eat makes it hard to be anything but something like a monster. I know better now, that a lot of ghouls, even with our unique food source aren't so bad.
[ In his attempt to clarify things it kind of slipped what he was. Oops? ]
no subject
Instead of mentioning it out loud, he just lets out a very elongated sigh. ]
Then be more careful with your wording. Don't think you're all that superior just because you used to be human.. [ There's a hint of a threat in there, but it's not really all that apparent since Shuu is usually a lot more straightforward about those. ] Calling anything that isn't human a monster is exactly the kind of attitude that makes humans think they can just kill anything they come across.
That's definitely the wo-rst kind of attitude.
no subject
[ There's a faintly apologetic tone somewhat in his voice there, gaze clouding over a bit and he's quiet afterward. All of this had not been his intention at all but if it had, it wasn't by any means something he was doing consciously. ]
Sorry. If I came off as having that attitude, it was more of something I picked up from home and it's not meant to imply you or anyone else inhuman are monsters by any means.
[ Shuu's succeeded in making him feel guilty if that happens to count for anything. ]
no subject
Why is he backpedalling like this. Shuu doesn't get it at all, and he just stares at the other for a moment with some obvious surprise flashing in his gaze. He's used to humans (even if Kaneki isn't human anymore, he started out as a human so he's counted among them in Shuu's mind) just thinking they're superior without admitting anything like this. So when he does hear someone say this.. well, how does he deal?
Clearly it must mean Kaneki is lying, right? His brain can't process any of this any other way. ]
If you're just going to lie, waste your words on someone else.
[ So he just stubbornly clings to that belief instead like a little kid. ]
It must be since you're scared, right? Trapped between the world of those who are human and those who aren't.. you have nowhere to go. [ Yeah, thanks, Shuu, rub it in, won't you.. ]
no subject
[ His tone is to the point without a shred of dishonesty whatsoever. Kaneki wasn't quite sure where the other had gotten this notion that he was lying about this but he had no problems in dissuading that idea to set it on the right path. ]
I really am sorry. My words were genuine and I meant exactly what I said. [ Then, he adds on: ] I have no reason to lie about that, either. What would I gain from lying to someone I don't really know?
[ O h. Rubbing it in definitely isn't a great thing to do right now considering while he may act 'normal', his mentality still isn't the best from home and this kind of digs in pretty damn good. Hitting on a subject that was a bit of a tender one and it shows in the way his otherwise calm demeanor tenses and his expression hardens visibly.
His anger must be palpable then, as in that next instant his kakugan in his left eye activates unconsciously and colors it that lovely deep black and red once more. ]
Don't speak as if you understand how I feel or what kind of place I have in the world.
no subject
It's not like he's paying much attention to Kaneki's words at all to begin with. He's more focused on the way the other's eye colors that way, and Shuu knows very well (if not just thanks to what he himself is) that eye colors changing usually are an indication of powers or true forms coming forth. It's a warning sign in a lot of ways, but Shuu never pays attention to those anyway. ]
Wha-t? What do you think your own place is, then..?
