What: Yuya hanging out all over the place & getting into shenanigans. He also has plans to do gymnastic things with Inaba, learn *real magic* from England, and build pillow forts.

A - ViViD: [Having a tough time with the current wave of enemies? HP getting too low?

Fear not! Because suddenly there's a giant red dragon barreling down an enemy that's getting too close for comfort, and a kid with tomato-colored hair riding the dragon is reaching down to help you up.]

I got your back!

B - Gardens: [There's a very loud yelp coming from coming from the edge of one of the many bodies of water in the gardens. Guess who decided to put their hand in the water and just narrowly avoided having his fingers chomped off?
...It may be problematic that the aquatic alien's decided to latch its tentacles around his wrist and try to drag Yuya into the water again.]

W-whoa, HELP! Someone-?!

C - School: [Somehow ended up in the costume closet of one of the acting clubs? You'll find Yuya standing in the middle of the room, looking pensive for a moment before turning to address his new company:]

Hey, can you pick an outfit for me? I can't decide which role I want to try today.

D - Gym: [You can find Yuya either hanging upside-down from one of the taller gymnastics bars, eyes closed and arms crossed over his chest in thought, OR you can find him grinning from ear to ear while jumping on one of the giant trampolines. He'll wave you over to join him before a particularly high jump that lands him in the foam pit.]

[Welp, time for magic lessons! And in the evening so that Yuya doesn't have an excuse to skip classes. He's even prepared beforehand by finishing all his homework...or at least partially finished but made to look like he's got answers down. He'll just have to look over it again later when he's back at his apartment. Right now, though? Yuya's super excited to both learn some real magic AND to finally meet Arthur face-to-face. While they've chatted over the network with videos and texts whenever Yuya's needed to ask questions and get another perspective on some home-issues, it feels better knowing he'll finally get to meet his friend in person.

So after leaving school, Yuya's booked it to the CERES gardens to their arranged meeting place. He'll be looking through his deck and humming to himself on a bench while he waits for Arthur to arrive.]

[ANOTHER FRIEND TO MEET UP WITH! With ViViD being the best option for trying out different routines thanks to the pain filter, but the real question is which game would be the best option for practicing without enemies popping up all over the place?]

Hmmm...Something easier would be good. If we have to fight, I could always summon Odd-Eyes to keep us safe. Maybe a platformer... [Mostly thinking out loud, but he does turn his attention away from the display screen to look at Inaba.] How much experience do you have with ViViD?

[WELP, THERE'S SUDDENLY A GIANT PILLOW FORT IN THE LIVING ROOM? When did they get that many pillows?
You should think fast though because our tomato protag's head is popping up from one of the openings and hurling a pillow at your face.]

[Once again, Yuya finds himself gaping at Naoki, although it's more like a 'DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDEEEE NO WAY SO COOL' expression once his skin condition is restored to good health.]

You're like a Duel Monster. [...Which is the verbal equivalent of him internally fanboying. But wow, that probably sounded rude being blurted out (since he really wasn't thinking).]

S-sorry! Duel Monsters are cool-- that was cool. ['You're cool' would probably work better, but he's already put his foot in his mouth. Obviously he hasn't had much experience with supernatural powers outside card games.]

I'm like a what now?

[He looks more amused than anything (cool is always preferable to fear), starting to grin at him and plunk down on the ground.] But thanks. My abilities come in handy, every now and then.

A Duel Monster! Here, I'll show you-- [Scrambling onto his feet and pulling out his deck because ANYTIME TO GEEK OUT ABOUT DM IS A GREAT TIME. Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Timegazer, and Stargazer Magician are held out for him to look at.]

I'm Yuya. Thanks again for saving me back there.

[Naoki actually looks interested, moving to look at the cards in question. His eyebrows arch up. Oh, ohhh, wait a second here their design is ringing a bell and he'll stand up slowly too--] No problem, Yuya.

But about these Duel Monsters of yours... can you call these guys up for an "Action Duel"? I heard about something like that from someone else here before.

Was it from a girl with pink hair? That's my friend Yuzu! [Because he can't imagine Shun talking about Action Duels or really socializing at all cuz he's such an antisocial hobo.]

And yeah, the monster holograms have mass in an Action Duel.

That was her. [Grinning. So it's one of this kid's friends, that makes sense.] We're still stuck on console games back where I'm from.

[No holograms with mass back there... back in the world before the Vortex World, at least.]

I've only played a few console games back home. [He's okay at them, but they're not as awesome as Duel Monsters in his opinion. Putting away his own cards, there's one thing he's curious about:]

...This might be a weird question, but do people where you're from normally have the uh-- [he vaguely gestures to the back of his neck. Sure, he could mention the markings too, but that might just be a stylistic choice.]

[Sometimes, Naoki thinks he'd get questions about that more often, but people really do tend to veer toward tactful here. Even when he doesn't mind.]

I'm kinda a unique case. My body isn't human. That's what's with the horn and the... well, everything else that a human normally wouldn't have. [Glowing tattoos, glowing eyes (though that's not noticeable in the daylight, superhuman abilities, etcetera.] It's a demon's body.

--though I still dunno if I'd say I'm like your Duel Monsters.

[Why be tactful when there's some many interesting people coming from different worlds.]

Ahah, yeah...that's the best I have to compare to. [B-but Duel Monsters are still cool so it's totally legit.]

So it sounds like you were human originally. Is that right? [More of a confirmation that he's getting it correctly, and he doesn't want to push too hard if there's an uncomfortable background story.]

[masakados]

[There is an uncomfortable background story-- But Naoki finds retelling it and bringing people down the thing that really gives him pause cause boy, that isn't a happy story. By now, for him, that wasn't the worst thing that could've happened.

So he nods easily.]

Yeah, that's right. It wasn't actually that long ago my body was changed... But before that I was your regular human.

Huh...Okay! [Yuya's not about to focus on it, but he is interested in one thing--]

How long did it take to figure out your powers?

[masakados]

I guess right away? I had to figure them out fast. [Though that said, once he was in a non-fighting setting, it was a very tentative affair figuring out how to control his strength.]

I was learning them as I went, too. I mean, I was getting new abilities not... all the time, but often enough.

That sounds cool! I kind of wish I had superpowers. [HE'LL LIKELY REGRET THIS STATEMENT LATER WHEN HE CANON-UPDATES. Reality-warping for cardgames is all fun and good, but not when the cost comes at temporarily being possessed by darkness and having his monsters viciously attack people.]

But I'm going to try to learn magic from Arthur, so with that and my Duel Monsters, I think I'll be okay if there's any fighting in the future.

[Naoki wants to warn him off superpowers... his own experience with them has been pretty low on the fun scale, but that's just a grim topic. He's not here to bring down the mood (yet).]

You're going to learn magic? [That's a thing?? Don't let this Arthur put a parasite in your eye, okay.]

[Friends don't put parasites in other people's eyes, right?]

Hopefully! Probably nothing too big since Arthur doesn't have his book on magic with him, but it's better than nothing, right? I honestly don't know how it will go, but I'm excited! [Cuz the closer he gets to being like a Duel Monster, the better]
