A) Workplace

[After some vigorous hours of shopping your growling stomach leads you to a quaint restaurant right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the shopping district. You go inside and are immediately seated by a friendly hostess. You have but a moment to glance over the menu before a smiling blond waiter stops by your table.]

Hello. I'm Hide and I will be your waiter this afternoon. Can I start you off with something to drink?

[Your drink arrives quickly, and all is well. Unless you have the misfortune of ordering coffee. The coffee will be the most bitter and disgusting coffee you have ever tasted and no amounts of sugar or creamer can improve it much. Suffer through it? Or file a complaint?

Either way, if you make it as far as ordering your entree, Hide will have some helpful tips for choosing from so many great choices.]

The hamburgers are really good if you're looking for something you can eat quickly. The pasta dishes are also extremely tasty.

[Here he will pause for a long moment, looking indecisive, before suddenly leaning closer, right up in your personal bubble. He glances around and then puts a hand up to cover the side of his mouth.]

You didn't hear this from me, but I would stay away from all things on the seafood menu. The last guy I saw order the sushi...let's just say it didn't end well.

B) Tech & Auto Shop

[Later on Hide can be found meandering the aisles of the Tech & Auto Shop. He stares longingly at the different choices of laptops and stereo systems. He's too new to Cerealia to have had time to save up enough money for anything so fancy. But that doesn't stop him from trying to haggle with the cashier over lowering the prices by a ridiculous amount.

He also spends some time in the CYbuddy section, looking at the different options before one really catches his eye. A rabbit. Any one around might notice his goofy grin as he leans closer and begins cooing at it.]

Aww aren't you a cutie? I'm going to take you home with me one of these days. Yes I will. [Engage or back away slowly? The choice is yours!]

C) Marketplace

[Hide is clothes shopping and can be found pushing his cart up and down the men's clothing aisles in multiple (cheaply priced) shops. A few items have been thrown into his cart, such as some extremely bright colored sweatshirts and a couple pairs of pants in various colors, such as neon blue. Don't stare too long or you might go blind.

He also makes a stop in the formal wear, searching for something suitable to wear for a certain birthday party. After some long deliberation, he's settled on two choices that he just can't pick between. If you happen to be an unfortunate passerby, Hide will jump in front of you and hold out his two options.]

Which do you like better?

[Both options are pretty hideous. Do you break the news to him gently or allow him to commit horrible fashion crimes?]

D) Game Center

[Any one hanging around the ViVid section of the game center can catch Hide observing the game ads. Despite his memories of having played at least once before, he's not really sure where to start. Does he go with an action packed game or should he start with something less intense? Onlookers can notice his indecision and offer their recommendations. Otherwise, if you're standing nearby Hide will turn and direct a question towards you.]

[Shiho should have gone home after work instead of wandering around the shops, looking for a Christmas present for Kaoru.

If she'd gone home, she wouldn't be treated to two....for lack of a better word: suits. They had to be suits, but she'd never seen anything like that being worn on an actual, living, breathing person who didn't have some kind of vision problem. The guys around her old enough to wear suits tended towards the conservative, dark-blue, work-appropriate suits.

She was sure these were the kind of suits a sharply-dressed clown would wear.]

Did you lose a bet, or something?

[Hide's grin falters a little and his brows furrow in confusion. That's a strange reaction to have. He knows his suits of choice are a little more out there, but it would be completely boring to dress up in something black or dark blue. Then he'd just end up looking like every other guy in a suit.

These suits would make him stand out at least. And they're not so bad (to him).]

Uh, no. There's a Christmas-slash-birthday party I'm invited to. It's a formal thing, but I don't have a suit yet. That's why I have these. But I want to get a second opinion. So? [He holds them up a little higher.]

[It's true that those suits would make him stand out. No one could miss even from a distance.]

[Her eyes look from the blue suit to the Christmas-themed suit, and then she looks back at him to see whether or not he was joking.]

I think that if it's supposed to be formal, you should be wearing a tuxedo, not a suit. And not something like those. Is there a theme for the party?

Funny you ask me that— [ Mercury smiles politely at Hide, then goes back to flipping through the games. ] I can't choose for myself, either. But I'm all for running aroun. Maybe stuff with dungeon crawling.

[ Mercury really couldn't decide which he'd play. Most of the choices seem interesting, but there's a part of him who'd rather let someone call all the decisions for him. ]

Dungeon crawling, huh? That could be fun. [He flips through another one of the ads.] Oh, and in this one you can find some kind of treasure.

[There's enough choices to be overwhelming, so Hide decides it's best to just go with one he finds interesting and start there.] You want to try it out with me?

[ Hey. That's an invite he's going to take. ]

Sure, but. . . [ With a shrug of his shoulders, and an arched eyebrow, he asks: ] As long as you're willing to keep up with a total noob.

B

[ After working such a long day, he should be at home but in passing this particular tech shop, it had been hard to miss that head of familiar blond hair within and curiosity lead him inside. It was then that he tracked Hide down in time to hear him cooing at one of those little cybuddies.

Wearing possibly one of the goofiest grins on his face on top of this, when you considered the overall picture it was quite amusing. Smiling a bit to himself, Kaneki crossed his arms over his chest as he approached, looking between the CYbuddy and Hide quietly for a moment. ]

...It seems fitting that you'd want a rabbit, Hide.

[ His voice is good natured and almost gentle, remembering the old days but it's a pleasant feeling instead of a painful one. ]

Though... do you know how ridiculous you look?

[At the sound of Kaneki's voice, Hide quickly straightens up, surprise at his friend's sudden appearance evident on his face. Okay, so maybe he should talk to Kaneki about his eventual plans to house a CYbuddy rabbit in their apartment before he starts attaching himself to one.

But he's always wanted a pet. And at least this way, no one had to worry about cleaning up after it.

He grins at his friend and scratches his cheek, a little embarrassed at being caught.]

I like rabbits. They're really cute.

[and he's not just talking about touka And if the particular looks of the rabbit happened to remind him of someone well...he's not going to admit it out loud.]

I do not! [He moves to close the distance between them and throws his arm around Kaneki's shoulders, pulling him down into a headlock.] How a guy interacts with his pet is personal okay. It's nothing to tease about.

[ Seeing Hide look even a little bit embarrassed just added to that sense of nostalgia, though it was a bit reversed in that usually he was the embarrassed one and not the one causing it. ]

I can't really argue with that. They are cute.

[ though he would easily agree that she WAS cute too... Even if Hide did end up telling him about who the rabbit reminded him of, it's not as if Kaneki would really judge him for it by any means.

He was halfway to adding something onto his words from before when Hide ended up moving over and pulled him into quite the familiar headlock. It was a bit surprising but not unwelcome, surprise melting into a small smile once more as he tried getting himself free but it was still an awkward position to be in, so it wasn't working out as well as he wanted. ]

It is if you're making ridiculous faces in public where everyone can see... b-besides, I didn't even know you were interested in having one of these CYbuddies anyway...

_{[Ruca happens to be that unfortunate passerby and he is definitely startled by Hide suddenly jumping in front of him and asking questions.]}

...Er. <sub>[He's just staring awkwardly for a good moment, before he starts thinking of an answer for this question.

Both options are terrible, even in his opinion and that says something.]</sub>

...I think the colors might be, um, a little too bright?

_{[A little is an understatement, but he can't bring himself to openly state that they're horrible.]}

[This is a guy who dresses in bright yellows and greens on purpose. Bright colors are kind of his thing. Nothing is too bright for him.

Which is why he's glancing between the two suits with a confused look on his face. He doesn't see the problem.]

But bright colors are good right? Especially during the holidays. I don't want to dress like I'm going to a funeral.

Eh..? Is even choosing a level that hard?

[ .. well, that probably isn't the most polite answer that Hide has gotten today. Or ever. Despite the fact that the tone is airy, there's something about it that makes it look like Shuu is just looking down on him right off the bat. ]

Are you saying you're too scared that you might not be able to handle it..? [ Way to assume, Shuu. ]

[Despite the guy's tone, Hide remains pleasant, a small smile on his face. This guy definitely has a feeling of superiority over others. It reminds Hide of someone he know-knew back home.

But instead of being offended, he just takes the guy's words as a challenge.]

Well, there is a huge selection to choose from. But I'm sure I can handle whatever it is you're willing to recommend.

[ Shuu just grins, his fingers starting to hover all of the buttons with the options - although he doesn't even really have to think, it's immediately going to the far end. ]

We-ll, if you're so confident, then maybe you should start with a hard one to begin with! [ Shuu, you're pointing at the literal hardest level possible in the game... that's not "starting off" anything. ]

[ Wow, that's just horrible. Hokuto was out getting some sweaters - but nice ones, despite the low price - and now that he's asked a question, he looks between the choices. ] I think, [ He goes over to a hanger and picks down another one that he hands Hide. ] this. It makes you look less like a leprechaun.

[Hide studies this new choice with interest. It keeps the holiday theme but also has a pattern that's less...busy. Easier on the eyes, definitely. He hangs the other holiday suit up and accepts the new one.]

Thanks, man. I like the pattern on this one a lot more. Sometimes simple is the way to go, right? [Exactly what is simple about these suits only Hide knows.]

[ That certainly is some fucking disgusting coffee, and Butch grimaces. But instead of complaining, he dumps the rest of the whiskey from his old scarred pocket flask into the cup.

He peers curiously over the edge of the cup as he listens to the boy being a rumour mill. ]

Yeah? What happened to'm?

[Hide raises a brow at the man's actions. It's not often he sees customers mixing alcohol and coffee. It's such a shame too, because he's almost positive that that cup of coffee had been one of his better attempts.]

He had to take a trip to the hospital. It caused quite a stir when he was hauled out of here. I heard later on he might have had to get his stomach pumped.

[His voice is just above a whisper, but still low enough that it wouldn't be easy for anyone else to hear. He doesn't want to be fired. But it would be dishonest of him if he didn't at least try to save the lives of his customers.]

[Sadly for Hide, Anna had no idea how to play any of the games here! Instead, she opted for looking around others to see how she could improve on her skills as a future video game player. (After all, she got really lucky the first time around!!)

However, as she continued looking through, she found herself staring straight at a boy whom she never met before.]

Uh...I don't know, that's a question I'm trying to figure out for myself! Which one would be the better one?

[It's only after he asked his question that he realizes she looks just as confused and overwhelmed as he does. Possibly more so.]

Are you new to this, too? [Well, even if she doesn't have anything to recommend, they might still be able to help each other out.]

I guess we should choose based on which premises interest us the most. [He flips to one of the ads which showcases a game that has sword fighting and buried treasure.] This one sounds like it could be fun.

What kind of things would you want to do? With so many choices, there might be one that fits.

[Y...EAH. She should probably back away slowly, but she was passing by and there's something she needs to buy in this place, so—]

Jeez... You do know those are only machines, right?

[Says the girl who swings by this section of the store often enough. Says the girl who also spends long amounts of time staring at rabbit themed technology that's way out of her price range right now. But, uh, you know. She'd rather eat her own foot (literally) than admit that out loud.

She's just going to judge the heck out of him, instead. Sheesh, stop weirding people out...!!!]

[So yeah Hide isn't expecting someone he knows to be suddenly passing down this aisle. It's pretty embarrassing actually. But he'll look at Touka and give her his customary smile. Nothing unusual was just happening. Nope.]

I know that, Touka-chan. But they look so realistic.

[And now he's going to very subtly try to change the subject.]

So, what brings you here?

[ oh my god, Hide. Trucy smiled upon seeing him - someone she recognizes! - but the smile fades to slow horror at the sight of those suits. ]

Er. Is there a third option?

[Hide had been glad to see someone he recognizes around to help him make his decision, but that feeling quickly leaves him as he sees her expression change.

He furrows his brows in concern.]

You don't like them?

[He seems truly surprised by this.]
