![]() It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… " When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.

Welcome to CEREALIA's fourth official event. For your convenience, we have compiled an OOC post explaining the event in greater detail. Feel free to ask questions there if you have anymore lingering concerns or inquiries. |

He can't help a small scowl, not at Naoi, but at the thought, at the stupid incompetence or purposeful neglecting of CERES or maybe they're engineering this all those sons of bitches grrrrrrr--]
Seems like it. And we can't rely on anyone but ourselves... and each other to fight against whatever happens.
Each time, it's gotten more dangerous.
no subject
It's going to be hard to rely on each other if we always have morons in the mix that think it's a good idea to listen to these stupid things. [...] Or ways to get people to play along even if they know better.
[Naoi is still buttblasted about Pulse and will never not be.]
I don't think they're doing a good job of creating an environment of distrust if that's their aim, but they're making a mess of communication and cooperation.
no subject
The stuff that they were adding to food or trying to hand out... [Yeah getting drugged =/= Hinata's idea of a big time.] Not the first time someone would've manipulated people into doing something against their will.
[He gets it, Naoi... It sucks. EVERYTHING SUCKED. Also that this was just like home was an unpleasant reminder for him.]
And then they just throw out that excuse afterward. Wasn't that just too convenient?
no subject
I guess it speaks for the character of the people here, though... Needing to resort to such low tactics, I mean. [He's proud of the number of people who listened to the offer and went "haha nah", even if it was largely because this entire city is full of cynics and barely anyone believed it was legitimate.]
You think so too, huh? [YEP. He's watching you, CEO... Still not over the burgers he will never be over the burgers.] It seems like he always has an excuse or a stupid apology ready. What is this, the third or fourth major incident he's had to cover for?
no subject
It does. [Makes a face. But indeed how many cynics are here certainly helped. It's what happens when you play in one murder game too many.]
It sounded so convenient and fake I was really surprised he went with it and not something more like "oh, they were holding me hostage". He could've even bloodied himself up to make it more convincing. [Hinata shakes his head.] The third or fourth incident since we've been here... right? Who knows how many there might've been before.
no subject
Maybe he thinks we're all stupid. I mean, if he's going to offer the same lukewarm apologies every time something goes wrong, doesn't that imply that he thinks we haven't figured out that it's suspicious? Either that or he just doesn't care, and I'm not sure which is worse.
[Arguably the latter, since that means that he doesn't think any of them are morons and he still doesn't care enough to try coming up with better excuses, even if it'd only take a little more effort.]
no subject
[IT MAKES HIM FEEL REBELLIOUS. LET'S GO WRECK THINGS NAOI.
no but really. wrecking things. bunch of us. this weekend. it'll be a blast]
no subject
How likely do you think it is that it's something like that? Arrogance or whatever... That's going to be harder to combat.
[Just by virtue of the fact that it might actually be a real reason to worry. They might really be powerful enough to do much damage.]
no subject
I think underestimating them would be a bad idea.
[However...] But I think they're also underestimating us.
no subject
We're going to have to figure out what to do about it eventually. Sooner rather than later, but we've got a long road ahead of us if we expect to be able to stand up.
[It's not something he's unused to, at least. He was very patient building his way up in the last world, so he's sure he can do it again if push comes to shove.]
no subject
[Hinata frowns. He experienced much of that himself... in fact, his life for the last while's been a series of waiting for clues and for things to happen. Fruuuustrating.]
They can be beaten, though. Those people in the masks, plus those assassin robots that were sent after people accidentally before.
no subject
That's true. As long as things stay like this, we'll be able to fight back. We're going to have to keep building ourselves up, though. [TIME TO BUILD THE BARRICADE do you hear the people sing Hinata.]
no subject
We are... We can't afford to get caught off guard like some people were again. [He and Komaeda were ready but uh it's cause they're paranoid people and even then.]
And maybe find some more of their weaknesses...
no subject
But being paranoid in this situation is a boon okay, Naoi needs to up his paranoia game if he wants to survive because this is the second time since his arrival that he's had a dumb food-related accident.]
That's going to be a lot harder than just digging up information on the history of this place. If they guard those things so well, just imagine how fiercely they'd guard stuff that can actually be used against them. [...] Well, I guess unless those two are one in the same. [The history and their weaknesses, that is.]
no subject
[......]
Wonder how much trouble we could get into trying to hack into their systems and dig around to see if they have some of their information stored. [He wonders completely casually.]
no subject
It's as good a place to start as any, right? If anyone here can hack into the system.
no subject
I can give it my best shot. [He lifts his shoulders in a small shrug.] No guarantees, but I don't know if I don't try, either.
no subject
Are you good at that kind of stuff? [Said curiously! Naoi may be good with video games but that's about it...]
no subject
Yeah. If I had to say, I'm good at it... it's just one of the things I know how to do. [He makes it sound less like he learned it or it's a hobby than it's just something he... knows...]
no subject
Oh. That's pretty useful in a place like this, then! We'll just have to leave it to you. [GOOD LUCK HINATA have fun with all that 90s music!! He leans back on his heels after that, satisfied with his haul for the day.]
Let me know how it goes if you try, okay? Or tell me before you start so I can go get someone else if things go horribly wrong.
no subject
While something going terribly wrong could probably happen, let's hope it doesn't... I'll just have to be as careful as I can to reduce the chances.
[He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.] But yeah, I'll let you know.
no subject
[And hopefully not his death alongside them!! But he will at least keep that to himself because he doesn't want to curse the poor guy...
That said, he'll turn on his heel afterwards, tipping his head in a parting gesture.]
Good luck.
no subject
Aa. Thanks.
Look after yourself. [He waves after Naoi's back.]
