![]() It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… " When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.

Welcome to CEREALIA's fourth official event. For your convenience, we have compiled an OOC post explaining the event in greater detail. Feel free to ask questions there if you have anymore lingering concerns or inquiries. |

[ The idea of that makes Jason frown, since yeah, after last time, he should be more distrustful of food, but he also tends to forget having to put an ice pack on his balls out of shame. At least it's not as bad as V, though, he tells himself. ]
...Yeah, uh, that's a good point. Nagoya, you should definitely eat them first.
[ rEVENGE ]
no subject
But he does actually feel sort of guilty about it and therefore kind of stupid for not assuming the same may hold true for whatever other food they scrounge up. He purses his lips at that, glancing off in the direction of the housing district.]
...We could go back and get some of the food that we know is safe. Or— a grocers? We could get canned things. I mean, it won't really help if the source of the food is tainted, but... [HUFFS.] I'll try it first, so it's fine!

[ Her voice is a little more stern than usual. She's being much more serious than she typically is and she isn't going to let only one of them make a sacrifice for the good of the group. That's not what loyalty means to her, that's not what she would do if the Misfits were in this situation.
Her expression softens, feeling a little embarrassed for sounding so irritated. ]
I... I'll try some too and if anything happens then. Well, Jason can handle us, right?
no subject
[ He answers immediately and with a smile, but the confidence in his voice is much more than he actually feels. To himself, he doesn't think he's good at protecting people at all, since from Sook to these two, he had felt he had failed them all at least once before, but... That's not something he would admit to so easily. ]
I'm just playin' anyways. It's just revenge for Nagoya feedin' me all those shitty burgers that were like, soaked in V or somethin'.
no subject
I already apologized! [It was probably an apology punctuated by laughter as Jason got out the ice pack...]
But we'll be fine if it's canned or something we've already been eating. Like that loaf of bread! Or those bottles of water, those are all good and safe.
no subject
As much as she wishes she could joke though, she can't. So, she doesn't ruin their joking around and only speaks up when Naoi talks about the food. Mary nods again, not able to say much in her anxiousness. ]
That works. As long as it's fresh then nothing will be in it... I hope.
no subject
[ Which, he is, since Jason was too preoccupied to notice naoi's sHITHEAD LAUGHTER at the time.
He's about to say something to the idea of food, but he holds up his arm in the military signal for the group to stop (he'd seen in it a movie), then presses against the wall as a shadow is cast against down the street. ]
Hold up— Somethin' is down there.
no subject
But he'll follow along until Jason gives his super legit stopping signal, which Naoi actually listens to, pulling up alongside him next to the wall.
He also gets his baton ready, even though he's holding it more like a baseball bat...]
...Can you see around the corner from here?
no subject
Is it one of those creepy clowns? Do they really have to be everywhere?
no subject
[ Jason doesn't even realize that isn't quite the right thing to say, and he presses against the wall more, signalling for them to do the same, and for once, that's a good idea. Out steps one of the clowns, but it doesn't seem to notice them, at least. It looks vaguely their way, but then down the other way before, thankfully, just continuing forward. ]
no subject
Naoi still remains by the wall even after though, brow furrowed.]
—Let's wait a second just in case.
no subject
Those things are everywhere. How are we gonna avoid them without getting caught?
no subject
[ Jason nods in agreement with Naoi's suggestion, though, since thankfully he is not Charles, though he looks to Mary with a half smile. ]
Well, we just gotta be careful, I guess? And if they see us, run like hell.
[ good plan ]
no subject
Once Mary exhales, Naoi seems to lose a little tension, too. Life is hard when you're surrounded by clown maniacs...]
Try to run in the same direction, though. Even if splitting up will give them less of a target to aim for, it'll also mean that we would end up being alone if we run into even more of them.
[Said in the chiding tone of a babysitter, good lord.]
...Come to think of it, I might actually know a shortcut to get us to the mall that'll let us avoid some of the alleys around here. It'll just get us to the shopping district in general but from there it shouldn't be too hard to make it the rest of the way, right?
no subject
Yeah, it should be easy from there once I figure out where we are. They're probably around the mall too, so all we gotta do is get to the parking garage through one of the bigger department stores. Those are pretty easy to get to too.
no subject
[ Jason nods to agree, since he really has nothing here to contribute, since he's not exactly the brains of the group... He gives Naoi a pat on the back, then steps back as a motion for him to lead the way. ]
You go on and lead the way, then. I'll cover you.
no subject
Good! You can cover and Mary can lead once we get to the right district. Does that sound good? [But he's not waiting for an answer so-] All right, let's go.
[AND AWAAAY. Naoi will stick to the walls, making sure to check back on Mary and Jason every so often. He'll keep a front watch, making sure not to lead them all directly into danger like a moron or something, but will eventually pull into a different side alley and start to head over toward a grate. This looks safe already, surely!!]
no subject
Mary herself sticks against the walls, keeping close to Naoi like a protective sibling. She hovers just behind him and looks back at Jason — who has a little more experience in defense than she does, considering most of the time she runs from any impending danger that arises from mischief.
This isn't mischief though, this is their lives. She stays silent, feeling too nervous to even speak up about anything lest she give them away. Her anxious fingers wrap tighter and tighter around her weapon as she furrows her eyebrows in worry toward Jason. Her tongue is tied. ]
no subject
But it's quiet, thankfully. His eyes are darting around, and he's listening hard, but Naoi has picked a good route, so it stays quiet.
For now, at least. ]
no subject
But he'll stride ahead relatively quickly, even though he's still exerting a fair amount of caution, listening closely. He scans the area as well, even though visuals aren't very helpful here.
Once they get to the grate, he starts to pry it open.]
If we follow this, it'll lead us under most of the stores and their storage spaces. I'm pretty sure that if we go down the right path, we'll end up at the end of the businesses and the start of the housing area.
no subject
When they reach the grate, Mary decides to help him with it seeing as it's hard to see in the dark and she figures it'll give her something to do with her hands — which are itching in nervousness to play a song. Once they get it figured out, she looks over at him with an amused look. She can't help but let out a dorky laugh; it's enough for the two of them to hear, but not enough to draw unwanted attention. ]
Is this what you do when we're at work? Figure out where all the shortcuts are?
no subject
Yeah, shit, Nagoya, should I be arrestin' you when we're done?
no subject
It's a good thing to do! [For situations like this, basically, which is pretty much exactly what he had in mind when he started scouting the place out. Either way, he'll climb his way through first. The interior is large enough to stand in, at least, even if the entrance itself is small enough for crouching to be necessary for anyone who isn't a shrimp. Once inside, he'll hold his lantern up to light the way. Jason gets a:]
You can arrest me if you can catch me. [Nerd...]
no subject
She holds up her own lantern, watching it glow off of Naoi's shoulders. ]
I dunno. There's a lot worse he could do. Like sabotage a yacht party or almost run someone over with a bulldozer.
no subject
Go ahead and get goin'. I'll cover both of you, but you gotta go fast, I think.
