![]() It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… " When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.

Welcome to CEREALIA's fourth official event. For your convenience, we have compiled an OOC post explaining the event in greater detail. Feel free to ask questions there if you have anymore lingering concerns or inquiries. |

...Hm.
Sousei matches those steps forward with backwards steps, light on his feet and unhesitating. If need be, he'll go, of course, and it's rapidly looking as if that's going to be the end result of this fight. He doesn't like the idea of leaving Souji in this state, but... isn't it also obvious that this is not technically his concern? There are others of the Shinsengumi here.
This is their fight, not his. And he doesn't have the time to die here, not when he has a home to return to and protect. But in that case... he's going to have to wait for his opening to escape, or risk a sword in the back.
How troublesome.]

it's not even about getting the lantern or winning the game. even in this horrible state, his retention of the circumstances hasn't left. he just wants to kill. to spill blood.
blood.
blood.
that's what motivates him more, and that's also why he lets out an icy laugh as he swings his sword. it lacks a certain sort of finesse he normally has, but it's undoubtedly still okita souji's signature sword style.]

Fantastic. Honestly, could Sousei's day get any worse?
He's confident in his own swordwork, without a doubt. However, he's not so overconfident that he is willing to test that in a situation like this, against an opponent like this, who is both known and unknown (what's going on with his hair? Why does he feel...less than human, now, to the side of Sousei more attuned to the supernatural?).
Souji swings and Sousei is already moving, intercepting that blade with his own sword. He can feel the force of the blow in his arms, but that's okay--he's not intending to stay that way. Instead, he steps forward and around, trying to capitalize on the moment to put as much distance between them as possible.
It's still pretty obvious to him that he needs to get away from here, only getting more and more clear.]

even if he can make the easy kill, it's not as fun this way. it's not fun when someone is just trying to back away and escape. it's no fun, there's no thrill to kill someone like this, especially when he knows they're capable of fighting. it should be a worthwhile event, not the result of a cowardly escape.]
Fight. It's fun... [the words are coherent, but they're also laced with that unhinged laughter. he's encouraging it. souji wants a fight, because he honestly is confident enough to be able to make the kill. this is dangerous territory all around the board.]

Sousei has fought many fights in his time, but fighting in the dark against an enemy with an unknown set of abilities, except for the knowledge that his human counterpart was highly skilled, is not a fight that Sousei is willing to stake his life on.
That would be stupid, and he has better things to do with his life than that. Japan, the Orochi, the Yamainu--all of it awaits his return, and that is first and foremost. He steps back again, this time in deliberate response to Souji's words.]
No. [Some other time, maybe.] I have no interest in this.
[He needs to find a way out--for a moment, he glances around, trying to pick out an escape route in the dark. Hm.]

[the unfortunate truth here is that souji really doesn't care. he doesn't care about any of that. he can see that sousei's looking for a way out, and he doesn't really want to allow it. that's not how this works, not for him. letting some just escape? that's never once been souji's MO, and with the pulse influence, this seems work in double.
of course, it's usually not people he plans on generally allying with or working on good terms with at all that souji targets. but how else is he going to get a good fight out of his kill unless he targets someone who is actually good with a sword? no other way, not that he can think of. so even as he sees sousei eyeing a way out, he doesn't hold back. now? now souji is lunging forward, as if to try and back sousei into a corner and force him to really fight.]
no subject
Sousei doesn't waste time on an expression of irritation or disgust at that, mostly because then Souji is coming at him, and he doesn't have the time to waste. This will be a fight for his life, and it's clear. He may have been practicing swordsmanship since he was a child, under an incredible sensei, but people here have different skills, different abilities, and he can't judge things based on the scale he used back home.
If Souji's not going to let him get away, then fine.
He'll give him an actual fight. Sousei steps forward instead of backwards, then, moving to clash their swords together, meeting Souji where he is. He doesn't intend to be backed into a corner, certainly, though he's also quick to disengage his sword, because he's rather sure that in a battle of pure strength, he'd lose.
He sidesteps, turns and swings his sword in response, aiming for Souji's arm. It'd be too easy to disarm, he's sure, but at least now he's fighting back.]
no subject
right now, that makes him pretty worthy.
he's a little less fond of the fact that his sword arm is what's being targeted, but the smile never leaves souji's face. he's quick to dodge out of the way—he's fast, and inhumanly so. it's going to take something catching souji a little more off-guard to take a hit... and even then, the notion amuses him some just because he knows that he won't go down very easily at all. still, that doesn't mean he's going ot make that opportunity come about freely; sousei is going to have to earn it if he wants to get a surprise slash at souji.
once he's dodged, he'll bring his own blade back up, purposely using it to block sousei's from another quick slash. in that time, he'll even give his opponent a chance to get some semblance of a strategy, holding him there before using his inhuman rasetsu strength to force sousei back a bit.]
no subject
Souji may not be the Orochi, but he's still a dangerous opponent--if it wasn't obvious enough by how he's being played with right now.
Tch.
Sousei does stumble back--he's always been a rather slight person, so he doesn't have much to combat rasetsu strength--though he's quick to find his feet again. He doesn't need more than a moment, though, before he's stepping forward again, sword lashing out. Souji didn't like it when he aimed for his sword arm--that's reason enough to keep aiming for it, mostly because Sousei can also be a little shit when he wants to be. And he follows up with the sheath, swinging it in an arc towards Souji's head. Souji's giving him the offense, so he's hardly going to waste it.]
no subject
he may have offered up opportunities, but it's not as if he's standing there just waiting to get hit. he still dodges, albeit purposely slower until sousei manages to slice through the fabric of his clothing and break the skin. sure, it hurts in those moments. his arm never drops, even as the blood starts to rush from the wound. but souji only laughs as sousei's sword continues to move; despite his injuries, he brings his arm up to stop his head or neck from getting hit.
there's a fair amount of strength that remains from the uninjured arm, but it's clear to see that his wound is bleeding well enough to normally pose a threat. for a moment, it even wavers—likely less than someone who had a serious injury, but enough. after a moment, though, the strength will start to come back...
and right before sousei's eyes, he may notice the way the wound stops bleeding, or how the skin seems to weave itself together. the only sign that'll even remain is the blood that had already poured from the injury.
souji's strong, he's fast, and he's got wolverine-levels of healing factor going on right now. maybe sousei was right all along to want to get away—souji seems nothing short of amused by the whole situation, after all.]
no subject
Sousei does not have strong connections to his family; they gave him up as a baby, as bait for the Orochi, and he was never meant to be more than a pawn. The Abe name means very little to him--but nonetheless, he has the family sword, and nonetheless, he has the capabilities.
Well, maybe less on the capabilities scale. Where's Ashiya when you really need him to exorcise demonic presences? Honestly.
So maybe Sousei can't do exorcisms, but nonetheless he's really not surprised when that wound starts to heal itself. Right. Nonhuman things with nonhuman abilities. That figures. And yet... perhaps if he stays this smug and amused, as much as it rankles, it'll give Sousei the opportunity to slip out of this situation. After all--
...Of course, that's when the crashing coming from the roofs and alleyways around them makes it clear that they're no longer alone either.
There could always be clowns. That could happen too.]
no subject
he's not as his best in this state, so even though his strength and sense of definitely heightened, there's a finesse that he's missing—which is just enough for his concentration to be broken from all that noise.
it probably doesn't matter much; he'd targeted sousei because there was skill there, because for him, it would be a fun kill. but his desire to spill blood is pretty broad right now... if he can take out a bunch of easier targets that are practically lined up for him, souji's not about to turn the opportunity down. he'll wait to see what happened of course; he's not going to just walk away from an opponent without good reason, but it stands that his mental state isn't exactly sound enough to approach this in the most tactical manner.]
no subject
So when the clowns come after them, assuming them to be easy prey, Sousei does the obvious; he knocks the one that lunges at him right at Souji with the flat of his blade, and then backtracks rapidly to find an escape route.
Maybe he'll be distracted enough by their new (stupid) attackers to finally let Sousei slip away.]
no subject
...especially when another has the intent of attacking him from behind.
souji's sufficiently distracted, so sousei can consider himself lucky this time. it won't take long to take the clowns down, but it should be enough for him to escape—souji isn't going to go out of his way to pursue that much further when he can just seek a newer, closer target instead.]
no subject
It doesn't mean he has to be happy about it.
One thing's for sure--he's going to have plenty of questions for Souji when they meet up again.]
