![]() It's morning when the lights go out completely. Not a single one remains on except the glow of the device and whatever flashlights anyone bothered to stock up on. However, a single hologram in the Shopping District broadcasts along a billboard for a Very Important Announcement. After that, you hear a song so tender and beautiful that it must have been composed by angels at the dawn of time. "Baby, you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed… " When you go outside to investigate, a friendly clown will be inside a stolen(?) ice cream truck, looking to get all your attention before he talks through the speaker on the truck.

Welcome to CEREALIA's fourth official event. For your convenience, we have compiled an OOC post explaining the event in greater detail. Feel free to ask questions there if you have anymore lingering concerns or inquiries. |

But as soon as he's breaking off, and as soon as there's that crash, Sousei is tensed, eyes sliding towards that alley. He can't see very well in the dark like this, but he doesn't need to be able to see to know that they're in danger now.
Kaoru... hm. Kaoru isn't preparing to fight. Strange.
But Sousei deliberately doesn't draw his sword, watching as shuffled movements come towards them from the alleyway. Oh boy.]
Be cautious. [Don't get stabbed while he's fighting, okay.]

—Should we go? They may not have spotted us...
[Reasons why Kaoru keeps the lantern tucked away, basically...
That said, maybe they could have left like five seconds earlier, but one of the clowns decides to herald the group's approach by cheerfully slamming a bat into a dumpster as they walk past, which rings out quite close indeed.]
no subject
And quite frankly said, without even looking over his shoulder--]
If it suits you, you can leave now.
[He'll take care of the clowns, but it's not like Kaoru has to stick around to watch or for the threat. He won't hold it against him.]
no subject
Kaoru hesitates for a second at that, because the offer is pretty tempting!! Ollying out with no strings attached would be the preferred option, but at the same time, Kaoru's gut instinct is saying "nah, probably not."]
I— I can stay! In case you need help, or...
[Or something?? From a noodle-armed person who looks like they could be blown over in the wind?! Maybe Kaoru is just talking about being helpful in case medical treatment is needed...
That said, this nerd is at least smart enough to back away several paces one it's clear that a fight will likely break out, so as not to get in Sousei's way.
At about the same time, two of the creepo clowns come rushing from the alley, bats at the ready and swinging in Sousei's direction with a clear intent to harm.]
no subject
... But at least he's far enough away that he probably won't get in the way.
As for Sousei, he's going to focus first and foremost on the fight. He doesn't bother to draw his sword, because he's not going to murder anyone, not even these masked lunatics, in part because they told him to murder people and he's contrary that way. Instead, he uses his sheathed sword, stepping forward instead of backwards because Kaoru is behind him, ducking those bats.
Honestly, if he hadn't trained all his life to fight, this might have been a challenge in the dark. But his entire life has been devoted under a very strict master to be the best he can possibly be, and so, masked fanatics in the dark don't post much of a challenge at all, just as assassinbots hadn't. They're each taken out by a blow to the back of their heads with a sheathed sword before he's pausing, listening intently to see if there's more.
.. ... ...hm. This is a stupid game.]
These people...what is their goal? [It's easy to know any of the goals of the people stuck here, but these lunatics...?]
no subject
Except naturally Kaoru is being as useless as can be because gosh, who even knows what demon powers are!! But it's important to be able to survey the skill of potential...whatever it is that Sousei is. Not even Kaoru's sure. A nonentity, hopefully - it would be nice if they weren't to run into each other again after this.
That said, Sousei will at least find that Kaoru is not getting in the way at all. It's clear he's got a handle on the situation as he easily dispatches both of the clowns, who collapse gracelessly. As he listens, he might hear some creaking along the rooftops, like someone is up there running, but nothing else happens just yet.]
—To stir panic...? I don't understand it at all. Even if they were angry at us, dressing up their desire for bloodshed in such elaborate clothing as a competition would be pointless.
no subject
But wow, super useless...not that he was expecting anything otherwise. That might bite him later, but despite his suspicions about Kaoru, considering him a deadly combatant is not currently one of them. Poison or backstabbing? Maybe.
But at the very least, that's taken care of, and whether Sousei can hear the running or not, he's quick to turn on his heel to face Kaoru, and--]
We should move quickly from here. The sounds of combat will draw others.
[But yeah...... Kaoru's point isn't entirely wrong either. GET MOVING, KAORU he's sure striding away from this mess.]
...For all of them to be dressed the same, we are dealing with a very organized movement.
no subject
But that warning is about all that's needed, and Kaoru is quickly setting off after Sousei, casting only the briefest glance back in the direction of the alley. BYE, CLOWNS...]
Should we head for shelter? Or perhaps I should call Hinata-san... [Because both he and Komaeda apparently have some sort of bunker going on?! Jamjar paranoia and stockpiling tendencies have done them well, clearly.]
I wonder if they're attacking at random, then, or if their targeting is much more intentional than that...
no subject
Perhaps. [He doesn't intend to go to a safe place, mostly because he won't learn anything there, and he's not really all too concerned for his own life right now. He hasn't met Rasetsu Souji yet. He'll be concerned for his life after that....]
It would likely be safer, as he appears to intend to wait out this game. [wise move, really.]
...As for that, I could not say. [without more evidence, anyway. He has some suspicions.]
no subject
Good lord, though. All these nerds with no self-preservation instinct...]
Mm, I believe that he has what is necessary to actually wait it out as well. It seems as though they stocked up on both food and water before it began... [Haven turns people into crazy maniacs but at least they're useful crazy maniacs.]
It would be better for everyone to do the same, regardless. If it is an organized attack, many more people may be at risk than if it were random. [TROUBLING.] Do you have anyone else that you may be searching for? Or should we go now...?
no subject
If you would prefer, I will escort you to Hinata's [paranoia fort] ...safe place. I intend to remain out here for a short time longer, however.
[neatly sidestepping that question of if there's someone else out here, though.....]
no subject
I thank you for the offer, but there is at least one other that I intend to meet with before heading for shelter permanently. I wouldn't want you to waste your time just showing me the way.
no subject
[He nods in response to that, and will allow Kaoru to just ditch--he's hardly going to be heartbroken about the separation.... sorry Kaoru-chan.
Go work your pretty feminine wiles on someone else.]
... Be cautious.
[That's about as close as he's going to get to either a farewell or well-wishing.]
no subject
But it's enough of a relief to bail, so there won't be any hesitation on the opposite end, either.]
You, as well. I hope that our next meeting will see you in good health.
[But more than that, Kaoru hopes a next meeting never comes. A small bow follows and then it's bYE, OUTTIE.]
